My main complaint with my new ReSound aids is that they don’t communicate with each other well. When I change the volume or program, one aid will change and the other will stay on the old volume or program. This happens both when using the 3D Smart app on my iPhone or when using the buttons on the aids.

Good show. I have a CI on the right and a ReSound on the left. I think I have all the accessories you showed. I tried the mini mic but never really stuck with it. I had a lot of trouble pairing it. My audiologist told me NOTHING. She described the Resound as the “most expensive”. It was strange to me that she didn’t say best suited for me. I need to give the accessories more of a chance. I went out to dinner last week and ended up turning the CI off. It was too noisy, uncomfortable to hear. I really avoid going out. Maybe the mini mic would have helped. I forwarded this show to a person that is scheduled for the AN surgery in May. The scheduling coordinator got us in touch to share my experience. I wish I had an audiologist like you. The feeling I received from my audiologist was she was in it to make as much money as possible and my hearing was low on the priority list. Thanks

You made me laugh when you talked about Wide dynamic range compression. One of my main complaints about my Resound One level 9 (the high-end product) is loud sounds are SOO LOUD and soft sounds are still hard to hear. The way you described Wide dynamic range compression the hearing aids should adjust for that. Nope! Also, I have closed domes and still get whistling. ~~~ Another thing I don't like is how loud I sound when I turn it up to hear those soft sounds I need to hear. I could go on and on about that. I wear these every day from the time I get up until I get in the shower in the evening. ~~~ And my tinnitus seems worse. They are better than nothing but not what I expected for a $7000.oo pair of hearing aids. I'll go mid-range or low-end next time and I always suggest to my friends to do the same.

It’s my understanding that Beltone is not necessarily locked. It just uses a different fitting software to Resound. The dealer just needs to download the fitting software - Solus Max as opposed to using Smart Fit in order to carry out adjustments.

A compressor is a device used by musicians and studios to lower the dynamic range of signals… similar to a wrdc. Too much can really truncate transients, making for ugly audio… like my old Eargo Neos. A limiter is basically an even more radical device/ software what is used mainly to raise overall levels AFTER a compressor has done its thing. Basically, for us studio folks, OTCs just ain’t making it for natural sound reproduction with non streaming audio. Meaning not good in professional situations where critical listening is needed. The compression algorithms are crude, mainly set up for speech, not music.

Are there certain hearing aids of which the user cannot wear a ball cap?
