There's something special about the character of 80's cars. I can't put my finger on it, but I love it. I just posed the question to the S12 group "Why do we love these cars?" Something has been lost over the decades that gave cars feeling.

ae86 is definitely a passion, pretty much anything you want to build now is going to be better, the only thing it wont be is an ae86 lol. my car is going through its last revision, had it since 2003 and its had a few revisions. this is the last one. im done with it after this ! :) i think a gt86/brz with a ls3 is next on the cards

Thanks! Me too. I've been working really hard to try to get a few more local 86s back on the road as well!

Congratulations. Awesome to see and hear it on the road. Wonderful. Love this project so much, so many details. QUALITY Digital dash/cluster FTW. The shift knob is marvelous

Gosh man so happy for you, definitely enjoy this video. Super calming too I think you should street it more as it is. Seems smooth and it’s enough to get you around town

That's the plan! The only thing that's left to change is the exhaust. Gotta get that sweet tec-arts x Fujitsubo catback on :D

Nice mate! How's it go with those giant ITBs? 220hp? That speedo is easy - vss into fury, then out to dash - you cut the wires going into the mechanical unit in the back - it's just a VSS mounted in the cluster. Calibrate on dyno or on axle stands.
@DoctoredGarage4 ай бұрын
Ooo that would be nice if it's easy. I would like to have a spare digital cluster to experiment on things like that. Still have to take the car to the Dyno for tuning 😆 I need a new exhaust. The one on the car fits poorly and is getting smashed by the axle. I ordered a Tec-Arts x Fujitsubo high output exhaust. Should be here in the next couple weeks

what was your solution for the headers? Thank you!
@DoctoredGarage4 ай бұрын
This car has a custom exhaust from the header flange back. I had to have it custom made on my AE86 drift car too (runs a supercharged beams).

U dont have the original heater valve?
@DoctoredGarage4 ай бұрын
I had planned to run one, but the ITBs are in the way. I'm going to try to run an electric heater valve instead so it can be mounted in a different spot.

You see them for sale, but Ive never met anybody who has actually bought a high price AE86. Who is buying them?? First timers?
@DoctoredGarage4 ай бұрын
Lots of people. It's kind of a cool time period - all the Japanese cars we wanted as kids that our muscle car boomer parents said were dumb are going up in value because we're finally making real money. It just sucks because I can't buy all of them lol

I saw an AE86 for $19,000 the other day, my MR2 MK1s are hardly worth anything lol
