I have the BP-80 100watt amp and its a beauty mate. Ive had it for approx 3 - 4 months now and it does everything i need for accoustic guitar singing. Its capabilities are above and beyond my current needs so plenty of room at add extra. Even for someone wanting just a portable PA for their phone playlsists etc is great value or for mum to call the kids back home for dinner.

I am trying to decide between 60D and 80.. Your suggestion?
@eazyrider6122
@eazyrider6122 Жыл бұрын
@@sergeizaslavsky If i was you i would go the BP60D. It has 4 instrument inputs and 2 mic imputs It has 2× 8" Woofers and 2× 2" tweeters. Only 2 Band EQ It has 120watts of power. The BP80 only has 1 8" woofer and 1 tweeter it has only 2 instrument inputs and 2 mic imputs.. But does have a 3 band EQ so you can have contol of your mids The BP80 is good but the BP60D is better but that does come at a cost also of and extra $100. Saying that the BP80 will get you started and is a good stepping stone till you really know what you want. Who knows what will be avaliable then?. Compared to other big name brand amps in the same class you can't go wrong with either of these. The BP80 comes in Orange and the BP60D is black. I guess Orange is alot easier to see running down the road but it also marks easily. If you outgrow the amp speaker you get you can keep it as a hack or sell it to go towards your upgrade. I would love to play through both of them side by side. Either way its way better then paying even half that money for a 100+ watt dedicated Bluetooth speaker that you cant even plug and intrument or mic into. Currently im seeing the BP80 on Ebay for $279 Australia And the BP60D for $399. Then both have the instrument insurance of around $40 so we are looking at $120 diffrence really. Other then all that both have all the same extras ie bluetooth, Di outputs, USB, 3.5mm headphone and phone and Media player jacks. So you can hook your phone up your PC, Your media player and play long with what ever you want.they also have another feature that alows you to live feed your music to your favorite platform without any background noise. Like a professional recording studio. Just connect the internatl recording line and the phone and livestream away.. ive not uses this feature but its there. If you want more low end and not fussed about mid range tweeking and you can afford the extra $120 get the BP60D it will be a bit larger in cabnet size and also heavier as well so also consider that. If your after something light you can carry around town abit more ie busking?. You will get decent quality sound just not quite so much low end they both have 8" woofers so im not sure if it really makes a diffrence doubling up may only effect volume not frequency level?. Both have advertisement as 15 ply cabnets WARNING THIS IS NOT TRUE. They are made of partical board and that cardboard like material. Ive opened mine up nd done some videos. But i add there is nothing about lithium battery replacement so im keen to open one up and see whats going on in the cab?, Also to find the impedance of the speakers etc. The battery is most likely a generic type that can probably be purchased online via an electronics dealer I'd imagine. If not something very similar. I cant imagine a replacement being too expensive. Not much more then a regular battery power tool battery. Anyway with all that good luck with whatever you decide.

An amazingly important question that neither Coolmusic nor any of the reviewers I've seen is: What do I do when the battery dies (i.e. can no longer be charged)? Older portable amps used standard sealed-lead-acid batteries (SLAs) that have been sold for decades and will probably be sold for decades to come. SLAs die after three years whether you use them or not. My old Crate Taxi amp, for example, makes replacement easy: unscrew a few screws, disconnect the standard battery connectors, take the old battery out, put the new one in, reconnect the connectors, screw the cabinet back together. My questions for Coolmusic, which are not answered in their manuals, are: 1) What specific batteries you use in your amps (exact models)? 2) Is the amp built in such a way that I can easily replace them? 3) Where I can buy replacement batteries? 4) What are the prospects for these batteries still being sold many years or even decades from now?

I saw somewhere (don't ask I don't remember) that the battery in the bp40d can last 10 years, with 4 recharges a month. I've played 4 gigs without a recharge so that may give you an idea. Good questions though.

This is a great question. I've been busking with my Bp-40d for a year and a half and find it sounds great with a Stratocaster. I play four times a week for around three hours. So far, it still holds it's charge, but I know it won't forever. I've already had to replace the charger. Probably not a bad idead to have a spare!

Thank you for your review. You inspired me to purchase this Amp for my son's accordion. It's an Excelsior hand made piece from the 1980's that's been retrofitted with condenser mics on both sides. He has a tube amp but is is 120v AC. He is playing an outdoor gig this Sunday and he needs a battery powered amp because there is no current in the area and he will be roving, standard for (younger) accordion players who can haul this full sized 120 bass monster around and I too may have to frequently change locations as the crowd shifts. Party hosts always ask him to use a microphone for their events and I liked how you demonstrated the effectiveness of how a voice sounds. He is wireless via a UHF transmitter. Thanks you for pointing out that he can use a USB port so that I can play music from my iphone during his (much needed) breaks. He is 22 yo now and has been playing since he was 6, and has been gigging since he was 11. Most accordionists won't use a solid state amp but I couldn't find a rechargeable tube amp. If you want to see him play, there are lots of older videos of him on KZbin: "Lorenzo Lucchesi accordion". Cheers!

Yep a very helpful review. Would have liked to have heard more bass control. Can you find a Bass Boost switch on it that is mentioned in product specifications? Its obviously got enough treble. Love the versatility of the amps orientation ie : On a speaker stand, Fold back/forward speaker, Upright and behind maybe on a milk crate. Is two Eq treble and bass control knobs per channel really enough?? Sounds like its authentic clear EQ would make it a Excellent Keyboard amp.
