They can’t figure out my mum either. The others in her town have mobility issues, cane/walker/wheelchair, in pain, on lots of meds, in a seniors lodge, or the nursing home or locked Dementia ward. No alcohol, coffee, tea, pop, juice, no smoking/vaping, rare restaurant meal, she cooks her meals… very independent. No glasses or hearing aids either. No Diabetes or metabolic disease. No statins. She walks everywhere she needs to go, independent, clear headed, and still volunteers at a local mission based thrift shop at close to 90. We talk every couple days. She likes her independence and keeps her house tidy. We help for things up high, or things she finds difficult like lawn mowing, or shovelling after a blizzard. We monitor closely, to keep her safe. I helped her with diet, supplements, and correct overall health advice… her health improved even more after she adopted these strategies.

My cardiac health has improved every year of carnivore. In the last three years, eating meat, exercising, and cutting out prescription meds--including 3 for cv symptoms-- my so called AFib has disappeared, my VO2 max has increased four points to the top 90% of 74 year olds, even life long arrhythmia has moderated. My cardiologist is visibly antagonistic. Still recommending statins, and is obese, personally "unable to sustain" a low carb lifestyle. The combo of carbs and pharmaceuticals is causing the real pandemics: diabetes, Alzheimer's, and obesity.
@Pondapple15 күн бұрын

@Pondapple I think it's a critical combo: no carbs, no pharma, daily exercise, and I also cut caffeine by half. Frankly, I think ditching drugs including Cialis, caffeine, and beta blockers had the most immediate effects. I'm actually surprised. My cardiologist told me the AFib was "a permanent and worsening condition" and recommended cardiac ablation. If I hadn't seen how effective low carb had been with obesity, GERD, low testosterone, and prediabetes, I might've believed him.

He says he prefers his patients to be well informed and says he loves to help people feel their best. I won’t see anyone else now.

Rule 1: You are responsible for your own health If you get bad advice, the person giving it does not have to deal with the consequences. It is not "one size fits all". Government regulators, Insurance Companies, Pharmaceutical Companies, Food Companies, Labs, and Doctors ultimately don't pay the price if they are wrong. You do. It is foolish the expect that anyone in the system will advocate for what is best for you, better than you will. They might. Or they might put keeping their own job before what is best for your health. To the best of your ability, you have to be the best health advocate for you possible.

I've seen two doctors here in the UK since I cut plants out of my food. They both were taken aback at hearing all of the positive things I had to say about the way I eat. They were literally speechless, yet at the end of each consultation they were both compelled to suggest that I adopt a plant heavy diet, eat more polyunsaturated oils and take a statin. Both of them even said this in a slightly sheepish way, as if they didn't feel able to break from the official narrative.

I am eating carnivore and my doctor is curious about it. However, I have been dismissed by my ortho years ago due to questioning. He thought I might have had a dying hipbone or avascular necrosis (along with my Ankylosing Spondylitis) because of the pain I have when sitting and moving... a money maker for an ortho surgeon. He ordered an MRI. I saw the images before the doctor got them. they were fine on the hips but it showed my tailbone was at a 90 degree angle and would explain why sitting and moving was so painful. I got a call from the doctor's office explaining my hips look good, so "don't worry". I asked about the tailbone, I had the nurse bring up the images and she gasped and said the doctor would call me back...and he had a different nurse call back and say "hips look good" I pointed out the tail bone again...and she said she'd ask the doctor. And I was never contacted again and was dismissed. Doctors don't really do anything for the tailbone, I've since found out. And sitting disabilities are legally discriminated against, too.

It is astounding that the exact same experience is repeated all over the world. I am from Czechia, Europe, and I have mostly the same experiences. On the other hand, I believe that anyone who finished medical school and went through all the attestations to become a doctor does care about people's health. There is the occasional doctor who does not see always medicating patients as the best approach. I tend to like young doctors - they seem much more open to new ideas. I will never stop asking my questions. When enough patients keep asking the doctors will eventually pay more thought to our input.
@seanveach95015 күн бұрын
It was not a perceived 'threat' to authority that bothered me the most. It was multiple doctors just plain not being interested at all in anything I said. I was far more interested in figuring out what might be happening to me than they were ( not a surprise ), but there was no interest in trying to understand or figure out what might be going on outside their flow chart of remedies on their part. I have had exactly one doctor listen with fascination and just honestly tell me he did not know what to say since my situation was so far from 'normal' with the diet that he just did not have the knowledge to even guess. I do have great respect for that answer, but doubt he went on to look deeper once he was done with me. ( I do hope he did though ) This is also true in many facets of life. I also am fascinated with ancient megalithic sites and the resistance to any questions or speculation about them is fought against just as hard. It is not just medicine that is gate kept and resistant to influence and change. People like that 'comfort' zone and just don't like to move either way out of it for various reasons. Those that make the choice to try things like carnivore are just the few brave enough to test, or desperate enough to believe there is nothing to lose. Happy for any that find a better way whatever motivates them!

I would give up on doctors if I wasn’t tied to a thyroid medication that requires a prescription. Wish I could find something that wasn’t reliant on a prescription. I wish carnivore had the capability of helping us rid this medication like some others. Anybody who’s successfully stopped this medication, I’d sure like to hear it.

Have you listened to Dr. Elizabeth Bright's & Dr Brownstein's talks on KZbin? They're both very knowledgeable about thyroid issues. Cheers!

@ I’ve listened to Dr. Bright but have not heard about Dr. Brownstein. I’ll check him out. Thanks

Yes, have run into this a lot. I (try to) smile and continue to as question them and move on. Nurses will call me and tell me "The doctor wants you to take your statans". Thank you for your interest and I don't fill the prescription. The next time I go, I make an appointment with the physicians assistant. they do not scold me. They actually will have a conversation with me and a discussion, and I seem to gain more knowledge from them because they are still learning. Also, they are more likely to advise than to demand.

I feel I know more about me than any doctor. Here if I want a blood test I need a doctor’s referral. Wish this wasn’t the case. Doc needs to build up my trust again. Great thoughts Dave.

Back in 2003 I had stopped weighing myself when I hit 326lb. I was EASILY 350 when I started Atkins in April that year and my dr was NOT happy with me. She kept going on about how unhealthy it was an had me write a food diary. I wrote down EVERYTHING I ate, how much and when. I saw her every week for bloodwork. I lost 23lb in the first month but this wasn't something she attributed to my change in diet. She said it was ALL water and lost muscle. So we kept up the bloodwork until one day when I was down over 50lb she said "I can't advise you to keep doing what you are doing but it is clearly working for you" I stopped listening to drs about my diet at that moment in time. I just weighed myself and I am 187lb and I have a 35" waist. I haven't had a waste at ALL since I was a teenager and that was a LONG time ago. I donate plasma twice weekly for a few years now and the nurses there ALL know me. I went full carnivore on April 14 2024 and I was 256lb. On Dec 14 2024 I was 188lb. They all ask how I did it and all ask for tips. None actually listen though because their drs tell them to do the opposite. One of them is morbidly obese and she routinely makes fun of me asking (jokingly) if I've had a massive heat attack yet. I smile and say "Not yet, but I'm trying" but one day I suspect she'll catch me in the exact wrong mood and I'll reply with "No but perhaps you can give me some tips because it looks like you'll beat me to it".

After all I’ve gone through in the last couple of years, my husband is convinced he’ll never see a doctor for his health- only for stitching and patching ha! Carnivore is the cure!!

You might want to follow up with a short video on where to find alternative medicine doctors online. One is Functional Medicine Doctors, but there are more.

The pill pushers in the white coats make $0 off of me! 😂 but my PCP likes to send me to specialists to get things checked. She just sent me to the ENT to check out my tongue as it tends to be a tad discolored all the time. Turns out my meat based diet has made my tongue "hairy". 😂 no pills for that either.

The last two years, I have viewed my doctor as an adversary. But the score keeper is my blood work and I'm winning! Future t-shirt print: Keto won! Pharma lost!

Agree. I think much of the problem is indeed questioning your doctor’s authority and expertise. In other words, ego. BUT, doctors have little expertise in pharmaceuticals. Ask a pharmacist instead. Todays doctors seem to be glorified pill pushers without the training of a pharmacist. That’s scary.

Hello Dave. I'm surprised you're still alive. You must be eating lots of strawberry pop tarts, eh? I'm glad you've decided to listen to your doctor.

I experienced this when a dermatologist told me l might have psoriasis and/ or psoriatic arthritis. Then started expoundimg on the virtues of methyltrexate and other drugs like it. I told l did not to take that as l am pretty sure that drug accelerated my mother's demise from Lupus. Already had a dx of non-sero RA. But since being on carnivore/ keto way of eating having very little to no joint pain. Not taking taking anything for it except Excedrin sometimes and rarely Ibuprofen. I knew better than to tell him about carnivore l just wanted to know what the lesions on my leg were. His exact words. "Well if you won't take the medicine then no point in trying to find out what it is" in a very condescending tone. Needless to say never went back to him.

When i approached my current gp, I statedci was on a journey of discovery and wanted a partner to monitor my health journey. They know what I'm doing and that I'm exploring avenues. Entertaining my requests for testing ( with appropriate questioning as to intended use of information as they need to defend the request if questioned by Medicare or insurance) some of the tests delivered unexpected results re cac. At that point, the game changed. I get regular tests as I continue on my journey, and in the process of reversal, they can't argue

Doctors have to cater to their Overlord aka BIG PHARMA. Blind trust in the Medical Professions is gone as far as I'm concerned.

Expertise?? They don’t even study nutrition. I bet I know more about nutrition than they do. I’ve been studying different lifestyles / nutrition and diets for 10 years. !!
