Why do you not consider the Puma a superfoam? Isn't it using the PEBA from the last gen Elite formula?
@DoctorsofRunning3 ай бұрын
@@bbnd5476the nitro foam is just nitrogen infused Eva, similar to Skechers and Brooks. Nitro Elite foam is nitrogen infused PEBA.

@@DoctorsofRunning Directly quote from Running Warehouse: "We've reached out to the PUMA team and have a slightly more clear answer regarding the foam compound. In simple terms, the shoe features a NITRO foam, that is PEBA based. The original early proto samples seen in the video do say ELITE, because the PEBA foam is very similar to the compound used in Deviate Elite 2, but when the the new NITRO ELITE for Fast-R2 and Deviate Elite 3 were introduced the market with a new A-TPU compound, they didn't want any confusion. NITRO ELITE means race day, NITRO means everyday. So the MAGMAX NITRO final samples just say NITRO on the midsole but feature a top of line and bouncy PEBA based NITRO foam. -Connor"

@@DoctorsofRunning why after 50 years why why are Pumas always narrow in the upper ForeFoot? my feet are very average width, and it's even tight for me. Do they only want people with narrow feet to buy their shoes?
@jefreywith1f9243 ай бұрын
Thanks for mentioning your foot strike. All shoe reviewers take notice. It should be part of everybody's review. As a forefoot striker, my experience running in a shoe tends to be quite different than what a heel striker feels.

Definitely Brooks Glycerin Max for me. My long runs are cutdowns, and I've been able to take the Glycerin Max down to 5:20-5:30 paces by the end. Out of the box, I did not think that was possible but the midsole has way more life to it than I anticipated.
@Thomasrice073 ай бұрын
I own both. I have to say that over time, the Brooks Glycerin Max is much better at protecting my legs and joints. I can feel long runs inf the Puma MagMax the next day. I don't think it is as good for a recovery shoe as is the Glycerin Max. The more I run in the Glycerin Max, the more I like it. I have over 100 miles on the Glycerin Max and very little wear on the outer sole. I really enjoy the ride in the Glycerin Max. I do not enjoy the ride in the MagMax. It is harsher for what I expected. Don't get me wrong, the MagMax is a good shoe, but not compared to the Glycerin Max. They were both expensive, but I have to say the Brooks Glycerin Max is worth every penny of the $200.00 price tag. It is holding up like I can run 500 miles in it. If I had to do it all over again. I would buy another pair of the Glycerin Max. I would not buy a second pair of the MagMax. But I also am a heal striker.

I have both. I prefer the brooks glycerin max midsole. Just feels softer and bouncier. It just makes the miles more fun. I find myself reaching for it more on easy days over my other shoes. But both are great options for easy miles.

Team Matt! I love the Brooks. Finally, a Brooks trainer that's soft enough and wide enough for my older feet.
@davidwalsvig29593 ай бұрын
Tried both. Could not stand the rear mush of the Glycerin. Aside from being a higher drop than I prefer, I found the Puma to be superior in every way. It's also one of the best foams I've tried.

As a 200lb (90Kg) person , I've found the Glycerin to be a fantastic shoe for daily training . It's allowed me to increase the frequency of my running sessions mostly due to the lack of soreness that I have previously experience in lower stack shoes like the Nova Blast (great shoe btw, just not for me).
@maldoror575021 күн бұрын
If I may ask, what’s your shoe rotation? Moreover, why did the NB not work for you and which version did you try? Heavier runner here too. Using the Novablast 4’s for tempo and short runs and the 5’s for my longer efforts (10km-30km). They do generally protect my legs (with some aches after runs longer than 18km) but I’d be interested to hear if there are shoes that worked better for other heavier runners. Thanks!

I'm not sure if these shoes will be right for me but they could have their place. I think it will be interesting to compare to the EVO SL when more people get it on foot as that has a high-end foam but is sub-40 and lighter.

I would be interested to see how high stack shoes affect the runner, I have both shoes btw, 92kg and I definitely appreciate both of those high stacks on the long runs. But I do wonder if it makes me a worse runner due to my legs getting a lot work done for me in a way.

I had to give up on my last pair of Glycerins after about 150 miles. I was incredibly sore the day after running in them every time. So, I’m probably out on Brooks permanently. I do have the MagMax. So far, I really love them. But I only have about 100 miles on them. I do find myself running faster than intended sometimes in them and have to consciously slow down. I’m a midfoot striker with flat feet FYI.

i just tried on both of these.. brooks was 100x more comfortable and bouncy just walking and jogging around, the magmax felt like an utter brick in comparison, but it's hard to tell how this will translate to actual running. if the brooks ever goes on sale i'll try them.

In my opinion having just 1 huge midsole singke piece is not the way to do a max stach long-range runner. The sandwich method of different densities with a large bottom stacked followed with a medium large dropin, with a polyurethane insole ontop of that. This gives a much more dynamic & customizable ride & customizable renewable refreshing mechanisms you can tinker with density volumes throughout each layer top to bottom.

I have the Glycerin Max & it's my first high stack shoe and feel as though it is too clunky for my running style & personality. I get impatient when I do easy runs so tend to find myself speeding things up & feel as though the shoes are just too heavy for my liking. Brooks foam is just a little too stiff but the tread is well known for durability.
@tomas05253 ай бұрын
MagMax have higher drop and have CHUNKY heel that is why it is having early heel contact = more wear in heel, compare to its forefoot area and to the lower drop GlycerinMax. ~ If Puma will update to 4-6mm drop for MagMax (and geometry similar to More4) I think this will result in better heel to forefoot transition.

I don't mind the stack height, I mind the width. Comparing the brooks to the primeX, granted different purposes for the shoes, but when the PrimeX is squishier and more comfortable at slower paces than the Brooks it all comes down to the width nullifying the potential of the foam and run experience. I get the impression that two things are happening, 1) your foot sinks into the foam underneath it, but the foam around it, the insole and the upper stops you sinking further, this causes stretching of your tendons, plantar and pressure on your metatarsal, especially if you land on the outside of your foot and the wide base with no bevel is forcing your foot flat. 2) because of the wide base it's like having a large mattress but putting a sheet of plywood on top of it, sure that squishy mattress is there... I'm just not getting any benefit from it. On the PrimeX all the foam is directly under the foot, flat insole means nothing is pulling on your feet as you sink in, it works. 59kg runner, the brooks is great for running down hills, other than that it's just not working for me, really uncomfortable clunky ride, the upper is terrible, I want to like it, it won't let me. Other people think it's great.
