After being shot by the “Harold Saxon” Master, she used an Elysian Field (an artificial means of regeneration) to regenerate into a more benevolent incarnation, called the Lumiat. The Lumiat went around helping people, to a point that when she encountered her previous incarnation, Missy confused her for the Doctor. The two teamed up until Missy got bored of the Lumiat, and wounded her so that she’d she’d regenerate, and Missy speculated (correctly) that the next incarnation wouldn’t be as benevolent.

The Eifel Tower scene pissed me off so much. For a show that prides itself in showing history, they sure didn’t make an accurate depiction of Paris under Nazi occupation, looked more like the London Blitz
@Teleoceras4 жыл бұрын
I know, the elevator on the Eiffel Tower was broken by it's caretaker when Paris was about to fall and it wasn't repaired until postwar. Plus Paris wasn't being bombed like it was shown in this episode. It was one of the lucky few cities to escape that kind of destruction during the war.

He wouldn't have had any believable documentation... They were all about papers. Without anything saying otherwise, I think their basic racism would have kicked in and they would have knee jerk imprisoned and tortured him for being a different color than them. Maybe even tried to harness his regeneration energy once they tried injuring or killing him a few times.

I love this scene, but what the hell were the writers thinking having the Doctor betray the Master by having him thrown in a concentration camp. I get that the idea was 'give him a taste of his own medicine' and have him realize the implications of those he is siding with. But surely there are better ways to do this than to use someone's skin color against them. Yikes.
@c.eb.12162 жыл бұрын
Not out of line with this regeneration's ethics, just a smoothly continuous downward spiral. The AI killing an innocent young woman to teach the creep who crushed on her a lesson was placidly, semi-admiringly approved by her and the companions. Very cold and calculating. Would have made an excellent snowball into the Valeyard with the lack of accountability from these companions.

Thing is, the Nazis recruited Indians, Arabs, Bosnians etc for the SS. I don’t know why they did such a weird plot point about “he’s brown, he can’t be a nazi” when there literally were Indians in the SS. He’d have stood out but yeah, wouldn’t have been much of an issue
@c.eb.12162 жыл бұрын
Didn't they have him screaming in fear when the doctor said "now they'll see the real you" and turned off his perception filter? I think it's beyond distasteful but not out of character for 13, sadly. All the callous things she does... I wouldn't have written a lady doctor this way at all. I think they should have had a lot more female writers coincide with the first lady doctor. Maybe a female showrunner too. You don't have to tone down the Doctor's compassion and make her callous just to try and avoid feminine stereotypes. The male Doctors never apologized for compromised on being sensitive and kind. Why should 13? You aren't weakening the female doctor by retaining that.

Worst part is it wasn’t even necessary. The master has collaborated with fascists before (Daleks) without needing a disguise, and the actual Nazis have collaborated with “inferior races” before (the Japanese), so you could have just had the master make a deal with the Nazis in exchange for technology or whatever, and then have them betray him at the end. That would have been way more interesting too.

@@deniza1312 Sorry, but how? Jodie’s run hasn’t been that great at all. We barely even know anything about the 13th Doctor, we don’t see the range that the others have. Same with the companions. We barely know anything about them, to a point that when Graham and Ryan left, I wasn’t sad at all. Not like when Amy and Rory left, or Rose, Martha, or Donna. We knew more about Eccleston’s 9th Doctor and Rose over the course of a single season, whereas we’re starting Jodie’s third season and there’s pretty much no character development for any of them.
