The element of body horror with the cyberman needs to come back a bit more imo. Becoming a cyberman is not a pretty process and in both torchwood and the Tennant era, i think they did a pretty good job of showing what the bottom line of the cybermen is. Make them gritty, industrial, less of a random robotic alien species and bring back the horror side of them again with a sprinkle of melodrama (bill pots + the cyberman autopsy + "I did my duty for queen and country" being perfect examples in my opinion)

I've said this a lot, but what we need is a story where a companion is only half-converted into a Cyberman, and has to realize what they have become
@owlmage2 жыл бұрын
I've sort of been hoping for the opposite, Perhaps life is meant to be robotic and the Cybermen a natural sort of progression, If they don't suppress their emotions and the price for becoming one is not slavery to a hive mind might not metal men do better than normal men can? (saying that x5)Love is a promise after all. A companion who makes the conversion work to their advantage and helps make them more human would be interesting to me, even an unemotional one who is friendly like the head seemed to be could be interesting. Making it creepier and more ominous could be interesting though you may have the right idea I just could see it going the other way.

I know some might get annoyed by this, but I really do like the Cybus Cybermen design the most. Not as creepy as the Mondasian or tomb Cybermen, no, but also not as high tech as the Nightmare in Silver Cybermen or Cyberwarriors (which I REALLY like those designs, by the way), but there's something about the gritty, industrial and bulky design of the Cybus Cybermen that make them look and feel like they have truly converted themselves into a machine, but still feel somewhat like there's an actual human inside. The NiS Cybermen are cool, but they are far too robotic, to the point where it's not really a Cyberman any more, and more of just a flat out robot. The Mondasian Cybermen are creepy and cool, and I love the whole "surgical" look to them, but they don't feel like they would be considered the "peak" of human evolution. But for some reason for me, the Cybus Cybermen hit that spot of looking like a machine, but feeling like there is something (or someone) else beneath that metal plating. Also, Rise of the Cybermen was my first time seeing a Cyberman or a Dr. Who episode, and I've been in love with the series and Cybermen ever since. ALSO also, does anyone know any good classic Cybermen episodes to watch and where I could watch them?

Definitely, because they look just human enough to be recognisable, but inhuman enough to be creepy. The human hands, the cloth-covered faces, you can still make out the organic parts, but their sing-song voices, lack of emotion, and how their mouths open wide to speak gives them a very doll-like uncanny valley feel. Like they are still distinctly human in outward appearance, but everything that makes us human has been stripped away. Their humanity has been completely removed and they are more like walking, animated corpses of their former selves. Still alive but with no emotion or humanity left.

She was still partially human so it depends on what you call alive. The cybermen as they were originally conceived were a desperate attempt (I think this was it) at survival by basically turning themselves into cyborgs, essentially a sort of life support. The suits also interfere with their brains cutting out emotions such as fear and compassion. The cyber components were attempting to override her individual consciousness and she was fighting it but knew that she would not be able to hold out indefinitely and considered that it was better to die than live as an uncaring machine. This is prior to the liquid alien saves her part.

Heather goes back for Bill Potts & they go travelling together to all the places that the Doctor had never gotten round to showing to Bill. Eventually, Bill decided that she wanted to try being a human again if Heather was willing to join her (PROSE: Twice Upon a Time). Bill kept in touch with Nardole, who forbade her from sharing bad news. Bill told Nardole that if she met the Doctor again in a different incarnation, she'd snog his face off if he wasn't a man (WC: The Best of Days). Bill & Heather purchased a home together, went clubbing, adopted cats & grew old together. Whilst dying of old age, Bill gave Heather permission to go back out into the universe & continue exploring (PROSE: Twice Upon a Time). Bill becomes a sentient oil creature like Heather, when Heather finds Bill via the tears Heather left with her, which is how Bill is able to leave her cyber converted body. I hope this helps you.

Nothing beats the first Cybermen from the Tenth Planet. They were cold, calculating, and menacing showing just how terrifying humans who abandoned emotions for logic could be. They gave off the feeling of people clinging to life even if it meant giving up all humanity. I loved it. It gave the same feeling Zombies are supposed to, where we (the human viewer) are forced to be confronted with the monsters we can become trying to overcome the fear of mortality. Unfortunately much like actual zombies, they've become cheap action movie props with the latest going further to become legions of storm troopers. I appreciated Word Enough Time for very closely exploring the mondosian cybermen and returning to form and the Doctor Falls for st least getting the action zombie trope right with the Doctor being overrun and killed by the endless encroach of the monsters cheating death. Still, it saddens me how the Cybermen have fallen. They're a classic who villian, I'd honestly like to see retired (or used much, much less).

When I watch the cybermen episodes I just notice at there was 4 cybermen race appeared in doctor who series, the first race was the original cybermen, the second race was cybus from pete’s world, the third race was dark water cybermen from missy and the fourth race was the cybermasters from series 12.

Have you noticed The Cybermen have kind of replaced The Daleks as The main Villains now?? A similar thing happened during the 1960's during The Troughton Era.

26:55. The most terrifying thing about that Cyberman is that it proves the Cybermen don't even _need_ actual humanoid beings to function. The organic head inside it was long dead and mummified before it was ditched, yet it was still fully functional.
@jamesalexander8193 Жыл бұрын
That shows just how long it can keep the brain going even while abandoned and damaged. Im guessing it becomes slower and less effective with age or wants a new brain for new ideas and tactics
@gundamgamer7060 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesalexander8193 I mean it kept functioning after it completely removed the mummified head and tried taking Amy's.

@@gundamgamer7060 I'm guessing that one cyberman was just so under maintained the brain was dying, the best car in the world will still need a oil change or some part repairing but that one cyberman needed replacement parts because it was so damaged. The cybermen have always been my favorite of the Doctor's adversaries. The Mondassian are by far the creepiest, because when you look at them you can actually believe that could actually happen to humanity. The cybermen of the 1980s.are actually comical to me, the way the cry out in agony when they are mortally wounded. I Don't particularly care for the newer ones with that awful stomping sound, and delete is not as affecting as YOU MUST BE DESTROYED. However the stories are still bloody good. The cybermen are the only Doctor Who monster that seem real to me.
