Also this explains where Kate and UNIT have been this whole time, and I love that this is going down while the 12th Doctor is at St Luke's University with Bill, Nordole and Missy so when she says she can get in touch with someone Grand Serpent does not want to mess with she really means it! I hope we see Kate again in one of the specials, probably the final one? I could see her returning with a rebuilt UNIT in tow!

If there's one thing I'm extremely thankful to Chris Chibnall for -- it's his handling of Kate Stewart as a character (not dumbing her down to make a companion seem more clever by comparison... cough-cough, airplane, fuel, bomb, cough-cough). This scene does her justice. And yes she had to go dark for the rest of the episode and was essentially bait but what do viewers expect? She's MORTAL after all. What's important to me, at least, is she could rely on her mind to figure out who the saboteur was then had enough good sense to keep her head down (no doubt she was still leading and organizing from where she was) until the tactical opportunity to take a more active part arose. She may have been powerless but she wasn't helpless,

I liked the whole storyline with the Serpent, Unit, and Kate. Maybe it's only because I liked Kate a lot when she was a regular part of the show. And even tho I liked the storyline, I'm unconvinced by this scene. She seems too unstable there. The value she gives to Unit makes it somewhat believable, but I'd liked if she was more chill in this scene, talking with the serpent and being as smug as him. I think overall she seems too emotional. Hum... but she was very much emotional in the Zygon Inversion... That's probably just my bias view then

I watched every minute of the entire saga and looked him up on the TARDIS wiki to boot, and I still have no idea who this guy was, or why he was doing any of this. In fact, that could apply to most of the bad guys in the Flux series. Not only that, his presence was practically superfluous, serving only to muddy the waters of an already frustratingly convoluted story. This is definitely one of several subplots in this season that could have been cut to good effect.

I haven't been able to watch actual episodes for a couple of years now, so I have no idea what the context of this scene is. However, purely on internal evidence, she appears to have chosen an extremely odd strategy for dealing with him. Someone who's done what she says he's done is extremely unlikely to respond to such threats by backing down. You shouldn't approach such a person and let him know that you know what he's doing, until you're ready to take him down - and telling him what you know should be done solely as a diversionary tactic, to distract him from noticing what you're really doing. Was this all part of a more intelligent plan, or just bad writing?

No, unfortunately it's just bad writing. Ever since Series 11 started, there have been so many missed opportunities and mistakes like the ridiculous fixation on unnecessary and frustrating backstory and lore (and not even doing it in a way which is interesting or unique). At least we have Russell T Davies' return in 2023 to look forward to.
