Thanks I remember prior to being a member I felt guilty and ashamed praying for "God's will be done" - it resulted in my mum passing away a day later from cancer - Then - later as a member of the church (just like your poem) I learnt to re-own "God's will be done" as a statement of faith. This gospel has saved me many times from dying of a broken heart. xx

I take such comfort knowing that although Adam and Eve were removed from the Garden, they did not experience death without having been taught the gospel. Perfect example of his tender mercies from the start of the Plan.

Thanks for sharing your testimony and insight!! My husband loves this quote from Joseph Smith providing amazing insight to the hen and chicken gathering scriptures! Object of Gathering “What was the object of gathering the … people of God in any age of the world? … The main object was to build unto the Lord a house whereby He could reveal unto His people the ordinances of His house and the glories of His kingdom, and teach the people the way of salvation; for there are certain ordinances and principles that, when they are taught and practiced, must be done in a place or house built for that purpose. It is for the same purpose that God gathers together His people in the last days, to build unto the Lord a house to prepare them for the ordinances and endowments, washings and anointings, etc. One of the ordinances of the house of the Lord is baptism for the dead. The doctrine of baptism for the dead is clearly shown in the New Testament; … it was the reason why Jesus said unto the Jews, ‘How oft would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!’ [Matthew 23:37]--that they might attend to the ordinances of baptism for the dead as well as other ordinances of the priesthood, and receive revelations from heaven, and be perfected in the things of the kingdom of God--but they would not. I will now ask this assembly and all the Saints if you will now build this house and receive the ordinances and blessings which God has in store for you; or will you not build unto the Lord this house, and let Him pass by and bestow these blessings upon another people?” Joseph Smith History of the Church Vol 5:423-427 June 1843 We liked connecting Alma 26:5-7 Garner scriptures of gathering..... why? To protect us from the storms. What are the garners.... temples. Those covenants connect us to God and Christ.... and there comes the protections and safety, Thanks again for your efforts!!!

I was reading Come follow me this morning with my kids and we dove deeper into the plan of salvation in preach my gospel. But as I read about the Celestial Kingdom out loud to my kids I began to uncontrollably cry with sorrow and pain. “The celestial kingdom has three heavens or degrees (see Doctrine and Covenants 131:1), and only those who have an eternal marriage, sealed by the Holy Spirit, can enter into the highest, which is exaltation (see Doctrine and Covenants 131:2). They will live in God’s presence, become like Him, and receive a fulness of joy. Those in the celestial kingdom who do not have an eternal marriage can enter into another “heaven” or “degree” in the celestial kingdom, but in that place they are ministering angels who “remain separately and singly, without exaltation, in their saved condition, … angels of God forever and ever” (Doctrine and Covenants 132:17; see also Doctrine and Covenants 131:4; Russell M. Nelson, “Celestial Marriage,” Ensign or Liahona, Nov. 2008, 92).” I am a single mother, I am not sealed, and although I want to, I don’t know if I’ll ever get married again. I started to mourn again for my past choices which I have repented and been forgiven for, but did my choices make it so that I can never obtain exaltation? If I do everything I can will I still never be able to move past this if I don’t have the opportunity to be sealed? My heart is breaking. 💔

My understanding is that we have a kind and merciful God and He has a perfect plan of happiness! Take comfort in a loving Father in Heaven. You have repented of past choices that kept you from being sealed and faithfully moved forward keeping the covenants that you have made! Those blessings will not be kept from you, those opportunities to receive those blessings will be given. (It’s hard to be patient with the Lord’s timing, but those blessings will be there for you.❤️)

I believe that we can still progress in heaven. Those who are righteous and did not have the opportunity to marry in the temple in this mortal life could have an opportunity after this life. PLEASE do not feel heartbroken or discouraged. Words from President Nelson in 2008, "But what of the many mature members of the Church who are not married? Through no failing of their own, they deal with the trials of life alone. Be we all reminded that, in the Lord’s own way and time, no blessings will be withheld from His faithful Saints. The Lord will judge and reward each individual according to heartfelt desire as well as deed."

If getting sealed to an eternal companion is a true desire of yours, then God will help you make it happen. He knows your desires and wants to make you happy. So rely on God as you strive to find your eternal companion 😊 I want to be sealed so bad and I know that God will help me do that
@V.Hansen.
@V.Hansen. 3 жыл бұрын
I'd rather be unsealed and have repented and remained faithful than to be sealed and then not have remained faithful. A sealing is no guarantee of exaltation. Repentance and sanctification through the Spirit are the way.

I have several church books that are over 100 years old. Most of them are signed by the original owner, and then the next owner and the next. I know it’s not like signing your name as a witness, but I think it was a common practice back then. I wish I knew what I should do with these books, I hate to see them disintegrating. I would be interested in having you look at 1 Corinthians 15:40-41 in that large, earlier bible and see if it lists Telestial bodies as well as Celestial and Terrestrial. I. Had a friend who had an old bible he called the Volgate Bible that was big like the one you are showing. It had Telestial listed as well which only makes sense when you are comparing sun, moon, and stars as listed in v. 41. It is removed in our King James Version. It makes me think of “plain and precious parts “. So interesting. Thanks for a great lesson.

Hilarious during family scripture study. I have everyone sit down. I tell the kids how the signs of the times will be obvious. I jump straight into scripture, "For a trump shall sound both long and loud." My 9 year old starts cracking up, followed by my husband and my tween. I look a bit confused. My 9-year old jumped in, "Donald Trump made it in the scriptures?" Someone else interjects, "You said, 'Trump shall sound both loud and long.'" All politics aside, that's just funny!

AAAAHHHHHHHHH! Those poor books! They need to be handled gently with gloves so that you don't rip the pages or binding and don't get the grease from your hands on the pages. and then there's David manhandling a book that was printed before the East India Company was formed. Emily casually reading a book that was printed before Otto Von Bismarck began the German Unification Wars and when Prussia was still a country. They need to be stored in a cool, dry place.

And then there are people who sit at home and judge others not knowing the directions they were given. Do you think if they were told to wear gloves, they'd be wearing gloves? Before handling any collection item, thoroughly wash and dry hands. Contrary to widespread belief, gloves are not necessarily recommended to handle rare or valuable books.
@Ethan-qj8uq

@@jills2ube It's not about how rare or valuable they are, It's about how their age. Forget the gloves for a second and look at how they were treated. not well for something that old. and that's all I can do because they were the ones that bought them. There are several others that echo my concerns in the comments. I'm sorry that I want historical items to be preserved properly.

I know thy love unspeakable, For loves sake able to send woe. To find thine own thou lots did go, and wouldst for men thy blood yet spill. How should I know thy final will? God wise, too good for me to know.

@@AMStark77 Did you know that George MacDonald influenced Tolkien and C.S. Lewis? If you haven't yet read his books -- including The Princess and the Goblin, The Princess and Curdie, At the Back of the Northwind, Phantastes, and more -- you're missing out. Also, if you can find them, his "Scottish Romances" are also worth reading.

I think the prayer, need, and situation for this section is that Joseph had just translated the book of Moses and then he and 5 elders were having a discussion and had questions about what they had learned. Heavenly Father answers the questions in this section. See the time stamps (in minute 9 is where to find this info from the video).

I'm going to tell you something. 9 years ago I didn't know how to help my son... He had had a divorce and it was awful going through it. They had a son. He was 3. But he was a baby when she left him. He tried everything to keep that family together but she didn't want to stay married. There court, there fighting, and just so much. He in that 3 years trying so hard and praying and he always came to my son sick or hurt. We knew he was being abused but could not prove it. In March of 2012 was terrible and as he got ready to take him back to her he was so distraught all he could do is cry and he told me he knew something was going to happen to his little boy. He could just feel it. The one time I did not go with in. He stop 1/2 way there and took both of Their lives. I lost my baby and my only grandchild. I asked Heavenly Father to take this burden of not knowing how to help him....just 2 days before. Then this happened. I'm still angry about it. I did not want that. I just wanted help. I couldn't before or since. I don't know what to do...I pray and I try to do my best. But I can't hear him... How will I ever get through this life if I can't hear him. I'm not angry anymore. Just confused..so someone did die from me giving to Heavenly Father....

Dear sweet Sister, what a heavy burden you have carried. I can't imagine how hard it must be to have such a great loss. Remember that we all have agency and this was not your fault. Your Son was clearly suffering greatly with pain and most suicides are to escape the pain and sorrow they feel. I truly believe the Lord will look at the big picture and his heart. You will see your Son and grandbaby again and be able to wrap your arms around them and tell them you love them. You too have the Lords love, every minute of every day. You ask how will I make it? You already have one day at a time up to this moment by strength and faith. Realize the steps you've taken and feel his love for you, you are making it. Keep going, keep trying, even if it means an hour at a time. I understand the heavy burden of pain and wondering where he is, and then I'm reminded He's right there. All the time. Sometimes it's thoughts, sometimes it's direction, sometimes it's feelings, and sometimes it's God's hand in putting someone in your life if even only for a moment to show you He is listening. You are loved. 🙏🏻 💜

Oh Vena, that has to be the worst thing for a mother to go through! My heart is breaking for you. So so hard! From what we know about our Father and our Savior, I know they know the depth of your grief and have wept with you. Even though you felt that giving that situation to God for His will to be done brought that result, I just don't feel that He willed that. But I know He has them - your son and his little boy - and I bet anything that they are near you, trying to penetrate the wall of pain. Perhaps you could try once more to give it - this time the pain, the grief, the worry, the longing - to Him. He will not fail you, I promise. Sending you so so much love.
