But after the rogue haidrr ali betrayed royal family then my forefathers and some of royal family members were threatened or killed by haider Ali and tipu . My grand mother loved life under the erstwhile Mysore Maharaja's of Mysore State. Corruption was non-existant. Life was good. Infrastructure was ahead of its time. Beautiful roads. Village roads were lined with fruit trees so people could pick fruit and eat anytime. People were happy. They had clean air, clean water, clean environment. She used to say, after Mysore Maharaja's, under Congress and India's corrupt Neta's, Karnataka has gone to dogs. Now under Government of India, Karnataka is in the Toilet.

It was probably a great period of Carnatic Music and Kannada Literature but it wasn't a golden age. Althoguh it was the best governed region of British India, the common people were very poor and the industries were minor in comparison to Europe or America. Mysore was far richer under pre British rule. During the reign of rulers like Chikkadevaraya, Tipu Sultan etc Mysore had a higher per capita income than contemporary Europe. Karnataka was far richer under the reign of the Rashtrakutas, Vijayanagaras, Adil Shahis, Chalukyas, Hoysalas and pre British Mysore. Those were the golden ages of Karnataka. I dont think the reign of Jayachamaraja should be counted as such.
