Documentary on the opening of TVW Channel 7 in Perth, WA

This documentary follows the building of TVW Channel Seven's television studios at Tuart Hill, in Perth, Western Australia, and the construction of the transmitter tower and facilities at Bickley, 15 miles to east in the Darling Ranges. It also follows the audition process, and installation of equipment. Finally, the opening night ceremony is shown with glimpses of activity in the studio and control room. The opening night was Friday October 16th, 1959.

I started work at TVW-7 in August 1959 as a still photographer ; I attended the opening on 16th October 1959 !

3:03 They discovered that the ground for the transmitter tower was almost solid rock. So they blasted it to pieces in order to lay a concrete foundation. 🤔
