This temple was built by a Kashmiri diamond merchant Kulhana Rahuta during Hoysalas in 1113 CE as per historical records. There was another named Bilhana who was the court poet of Chalukyan King Vikramaditya VI from 1073 to 1127 CE. This shows the great link of Karnataka with Kashmir in ancient times.

Neglect. This beautiful 1,000 years old temple has no proper roads. Look at that pathetic faded road side board at the road diversion. The site has a lake and an ancient temple with amazing architecture. So much tourism potential. So much chances of jobs and poverty alleviation of locals is not realized.
