What's up Mopar fam what's going on? Today on this episode we are going to be recalibrating the throttle body on my Dodge Challenger SRT 392 6.4L Hemi.
Alright let's get it! This throttle body recalibration Procedure episode applies to the Hemi engines and I Know There's major debate on whether or not it works on the forums but in my opinion it does. First and foremost let's discuss that near the end of the video and get to the throttle body recalibration procedure first!
1)Ok so First let's get in the mopar and put the challenger in the "ON" position.
2) Wait for the warning lights to go out. The Check Engine Light may remain on but that's OK.
3) Next Slowly depress the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor.
4) Slowly release the accelerator pedal until it's all the way back up.
5) Now Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position. Repeat these steps a couple of times in case you got it wrong the first time.
6) After all that Start the Hemi and go for a Joy ride
The throttle position calibration or relearn process for a Dodge Challenger equipped with a Hemi engine typically involves resetting the throttle position sensor (TPS) to ensure accurate throttle response and optimal engine performance. Here's a general guide on how to perform this procedure:
Procedure:
Start the Engine:
Ensure that the engine is off initially, then start it and let it idle.
Put the Vehicle in Park or Neutral:
For automatic transmission vehicles, place the gear selector in the "Park" position.
For manual transmission vehicles, ensure the transmission is in neutral.
Let the Engine Warm Up:
Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature by idling for a few minutes.
Turn Off Accessories:
Turn off all accessories such as air conditioning, headlights, and stereo system to minimize electrical load.
Perform the Throttle Calibration:
With the engine idling, slowly press the accelerator pedal all the way down and release it.
Repeat this process three times within five seconds. Ensure you press the pedal smoothly and release it completely each time.
Turn Off the Engine:
After completing the calibration procedure, turn off the engine.
Wait and Restart:
Wait for a few seconds, then restart the engine.
Test Drive:
Take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure that the throttle response feels smooth and responsive.
Additional Notes:
Battery Disconnection: If you disconnect the battery or perform any work that interrupts the vehicle's electrical system, it may be necessary to recalibrate the throttle position sensor.

Yes ,works ,06 charger hemi check engine light on and lightning bolt throttle body light on .removed ,cleaned ,lots of carbon .did the reset ,lights out ,runs great. !

Tried both methods the “hold for 20 seconds and slowly depress” and this for save measures and immediately I mean IMMEDIATELY I felt my 21 Ram gain power. It used to “bog” sometimes and it wouldn’t let the VVT take over. Now I can be in 7th gear with 35s going up a slight hill and gain speed like nothing. Wow. This WORKS!!

Definitely works just did the other day on my RT I do it probably 3 times a month whenever feeling sluggish. It's 93 octane tuned so definitely wakes it up

@Knochensplitter hey there, should work on an 05, if not try disconnecting the battery for an hour, it resets everything and forces a relearn.

I am on my 2nd Challenger. Both were R/T hemi's but the recent one I just bought feels slower than I remember the old one! but it's the same engine. maybe I'll try this trick. Why would the car need to be calibrated in the first place?

Hey there! a common one is the computer adapting to your driving habits, another common one carbon buildup in the butterfly valve, as it gets thicker it slowly pushes the butterfly valve out of its default zero position. If your second challenger is brand spanking new I would waiting until after your "break in" period to expect better throttle response. I know performance is intentionally reduced during the break in period. If your second challenger is used, we can blame the previous owner lol

try disconnecting the battery for 30+ minutes for a hard reset of the computers, if that doesn't work it's something that's telling the tb to not open all the way since you put a new one and had the same results

@@moparbro Mine is a basically stock car. To many times, the engine idles down so slow that it's at the verge of stalling. I am used to cars with bigger cams and I seem to be either to slow onto the gas, which causes it to stall or over rev unnecessarily when i pull out. About 750 rpm would be a huge help on my 6 speed car. I am not looking for another performance tuning at this time, just want base idle set to about 750 rpm. Don't want to spend 400.00 bucks just to adjust that.

Does p1072 have anything to do with throttle body ?

Hey there! Would it be a P0172 Code? Any issues with the throttle body it would light up in the dash, don't know a P1072 but a P0172 is excess fuel. Might be a failing 02 sensor. Thnx for watching!

Ok thanks because that code shows it can be o2 or throttle position sensor , I changes o2 sensor last year and the sensor is on throttle

@@dantecarter9663 ah yea tru, possible faulty new sensor, but also if you have a buddy with the same engine you can try swapping throttle bodies quick and see if that fixes it
