Can you show Bank Locations on a 2015 Jeep Compass 2.4 VVT please. I have the code (P000A) and i replaced the two Cam Sensors but it doesnt fix the check engine light. Any suggestions?

you said bank 1 exhaust and intake on left side of engine. I have 2015 town and country and have p0010 code. I purchased camsaft silonoid actuator. The code reads "A Camsaft Position Actuator Circuit/Open Bank 1. Is it exaust or intake?

Hi, I have a plan to replace the VVT solenoids on bank two of my DJ 2014 RT this weekend but I noticed that both VVT packages have missed the seals, does somebody knows the parts number and where I can get those..?

For anybody hunting for just the seal part number I bought it directly at my local Dodge here in Canada. For 1x seal it cost me. $15.97 after taxes. Part #: 05184855AB

Dodge dealership is the easiest source for specific application fasteners, and usually they aren't very expensive. I paid $2 a piece for cat to cylinder head bolts, and didn't feel cheated.

Habe den selben Fehlercode P0018 bei meinem dodge challenger 3.6l Pentaser motor mit der Diagnose Bank 2 sensor A. Nun weiß ich das die Bank 2 sich auf der rechten Seite befindet aber wo bzw. Welcher sensor ist A ?

Genau, Bank 2 sind auf die Motor rechten Seite. Ich glaube Sensor "A" sind an der innen seite (Einlass). Sie können die Sensoren problemlos von Bank A zu Bank B austauschen. Überprüfen Sie dann, ob das Problem auf Bank 1 übergeht.

Sorry I don’t give people thumbs down but if you don’t mind me saying…since I have experience with this - very common issue with Mercedes as well. I don’t believe you are using the correct terms and I think for this it’s actually quite important to. What you are replacing are the magnets, not solenoid. The word solenoid means some type of valve. The solenoid is the oil control valve inside the engine. I think it’s important because this makes people very confused on Mercedes forums, etc. People replace the “solenoid” and they just replace the magnet. And the check engine light doesn’t go away. Then someone else says maybe it’s the solenoid. And they said they changed it but they changed the magnet. So I think it’s important to distinguish camshaft magnet, camshaft solenoid (the oil control valve itself), and camshaft position sensor. I think using the correct words matter. Not sure why people keep calling VVT magnets a solenoid. They are the magnets that send signals to the solenoid.

At first I thought you were just nit picking. But in reality you most excellently explained that this is just an electro magnet that actually tries to move a valve which is inside the head. Simply activating the magnet does not mean the valve moves. I thought this was all one piece which it is not. GREAT COMMENT!!! It was a good video but needed to talk about the actual valve as well.

I'm sometimes accused of nit-picking but the intent is to be thorough and I promise any comments I make will always have details that are hopefully helpful...otherwise I won't comment. I'm not here to be a jerk or smart ass, ha. Btw, I needed to first read my comment to refamiliarize myself since it was a year ago. If this helps you or anyone else, about 6 months ago, I finally fixed my VVT issue on my 2010 MB C300. I took out the solenoid (oil control valve, now that we have the terms aligned) from the engine head, cleaned the heck out of it with carb/parts cleaner, reinstalled and my check engine light went out and the dreaded P0019 that plagues Mercedes and maybe other brands was finally resolved. I now have full power at any RPM and since June, 2022, I feel as though my car finally came back to "normal."

Interesting. I can kinda understand the confusion, though. A solenoid is made up of a coil that gets magnetized, and that magnetism moves a device (a spool, or a contact plate, or whatever) that does the work. Typically, the coil and device are one part, but in this case, they are separate parts, which is the important take-away for me. Understanding how it works is most important, second only to proper nomenclature. Kinda like the "dual speed oil pump" on this engine. If folks understood how it works, they would understand that it's not a dual speed pump, but a dual displacement pump.

@@timothyball3144 Hi Timothy, yes, agree. And similar to the comments above from Jerry Benson on my original comment - it can definitely get confusing. Again, I know this coming from the perspective of Mercedes engines...and you're right. Most manufacturers make the sensor/solenoid as one, with no magnet needed at all. I think Mercedes (which is my favorite brand and I'm loyal to a fault) made a convoluted variable valve timing set up consisting of 3 components instead of one: a sensor that talks to the ECU, then talks to the magnet, and then the magnet talks to the 'actual' solenoid. (Remnants of the Daimler-Chrysler merger). Mercedes knows engines but they simply don't understand these types of things like VVT...Honda is the expert on these issues. But yes, I think we are in general alignment: the word solenoid typically means something that moves. The magnet is really just a magnet that activates/deactivates the solenoid. I originally made my comments based on how I saw so many people frustrated, and I was sensitive to their pain. People keep changing the magnets/sensors, spend all that money, and then say the check engine light is still on. Mercedes (Chrysler, same difference in this context) put the solenoid inside the engine, threaded into the camshafts (both intake and exhaust). The sensors (which are hall sensors) almost never go bad, they can go 300K miles. The magnets wear out at around 100k miles, in general. But the solenoid needs to be either cleaned or replaced from time-to-time. Which speaks to not only the importance of oil change intervals that are less than 10K miles (I typically go around 6-7K miles before an oil change) and oil that is APPROVED for your engine (engine builder code).

@@timothyball3144 If this helps anyone, please just remember the number of solenoids you have is consistent with the number of camshafts/valves you have. I have a 6-cylinder MB engine which is 24 valve. So 4 valves per cylinder means 2 intake camshafts and 2 exhaust camshafts, 1 set per cylinder bank (2) = 4, so you have 4 solenoids. If you have a 4-cylinder car, you most likely have 2 camshafts, 1 intake and 1 exhaust, so 2 solenoids, 1 cylinder bank. And if you have an 8-cylinder engine, perhaps a 32 valve, but still 4 valves per cylinder, and 2 intake and 2 exhaust cams = 4 solenoids total.
