How did you get that strut to just fall out? My suspension won't droop enough.... Did you disconnect the swayer?

Hey boss, I had my rear shocks both replaced with a whole new assembly. Now, the rear is still sitting pretty high, about 3-4 inches from its normal height. Would you happen to know what happened with it? The mechanic said it should settle down but I drive the vehicle daily for 2 weeks now and it hasn't budged.

They may settle a little bit. What year and model do you have? And is it awd or two wheel drive? I wonder if they put the correct ones on because some journeys had the performance suspension package or the touring suspension package which are different from one another.

Do you need control arms for the rear as well, like the front ?
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE10 ай бұрын
There is a lower control arm there. Are you talking about replacing the lower control arm?
@c.p.574110 ай бұрын
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Yes! Thank you. Sorry I am not knowledgeable about cars. I just bought a used Journey and was told it needed front and rear suspension. The front is practically done, just need to know what I need for the rear suspension.

i watched one video where the guy just cut the plastic cover that is right in front of the strut bolts and then just covered the hole back up, ya not the best way but saved him a lot of time and as he said the cut portion is almost covered up by other stuff so he wasnt worried about it
@brianvinzant1893 Жыл бұрын
Any chance you could link the video or know the channels name? I have been looking for how to do that because I saw how much shit you have to take off for this
@@brianvinzant1893Yeah, follow the video below. Don't get sucked into tearing the interior apart to remove two 15 mm nuts on each side.

@@bammerbiff1621 I already did it, I took out the back seats and cut flaps the plastic, one one side when bending the flap up it broke out the square witch I just put back into place on the other side it worked perfectly. After putting the seats back in you can barley see anything and if you did you had to be looking for it

I'm going to have to do the same on my journey, ordered Monroe as well. Using the ratchet strap trick tho, wish me luck lol... Thanks for the vid!!

What kit do you recommend for me ? My suspension is worn and I have a 2010 Journey awd r/t
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE2 жыл бұрын
You really can’t go wrong with the big three Monroe, Gabriel, and kyb especially if your planning on keeping the vehicle. If you don’t plan on keeping the vehicle for awhile I’m sure the cheaper brands like fcs, Detroit axle, and prt will work just fine. Are you looking for the strut and spring combo or just the struts and reusing your original spring.
@Catchmecupid2 жыл бұрын
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE just struts and reusing original springs because I’ve heard that’s best and saves money . I’ve heard you don’t really want thick springs either which is another reason . A lot of full assemblies have thicker springs is this true ?
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE2 жыл бұрын
@@Catchmecupid Not really sure on the larger springs or at least I haven’t really noticed. I prefer to reuse springs because I’d rather save money as well. The only benefit of full assemblies is they are faster to switch out and you get new strut mounts and bearings which is good for the fronts because a lot of journeys had problems with the factory strut mounts and bearings but for the rears definitely worth it to just reuse the old spring. Check out www.rockauto.com they seem to have the best prices for your vehicle especially on the Monroe oespectrum struts.

O. M. G. Seriously? That's a lot of disassembly. I started to wonder if you would end up having to remove the antenna. Excellent video, though. Thanks.
