I bought that truck out of Idaho over 2 years ago. it was originally a plow truck out of Colorado. I have pics when I got it originally if your interested. I re-did the rear of the frame and some other stuff. Let me know if you have any questions. have fun with it!

No way. That is so cool. I figured it had a plow on it at some point because of the hydraulic pump on it. I would love to see pictures. Send me an email at diyscottg@gmail.com

The fate of the three lights is still unknown. Probably gonna have to come off when I do the paint

Those are for vacuum lines on the intake manifold, one or two might go to the carburetor,distributor, and brake booster,if got power brakes,or vacuum wipers,
@DIYSCOTT3 жыл бұрын
Yes it should have vacuum wipers. Thanks!

You need to go to the Dollar store . You get oven cleaner. A caution that when you spray it on aluminum it must be washed off in 10 min . Then you spray it down if no aluminum leave it a few hours then respray it . When you wash it . It will be all gone .

For the grime on the engine oil pan that I wasn't able to power wash off? Thanks for the tip :)

@@DIYSCOTT cool name bro i wish more people would watch your content its really good i do how you keep documenting the power wagon are you going to rubberize the interior? Think it will clean things up alot
@DIYSCOTT3 жыл бұрын
@@rw3175 Hi sorry I never saw this. When you say rubberize the interior do you mean like the floor pans?
@rw31753 жыл бұрын
@@DIYSCOTT hey no i dont know what you Americans call it but its a spray on application that leaves a thin or thick layer of rubber
@DIYSCOTT3 жыл бұрын
@@rw3175 interesting yeah eventually I think the cab should have an interior lining of some sort but probably more like a headliner felt than something I would spray on

That power wagon is awesome, I like your channel it’s very similar to mine ,I like the mixture of different things.looking forward to watching more 👍

Take a liter of Coke to the engine, prior to pressure washing, for stellar results!

Good to know thanks for the tip! Someone else suggested oven cleaner so I will definitely keep both of these in mind. Have a good rest of your day!

There is a power wagon parts catalogue and they have some things they provide information on parts

Are you talking about the one from Vintage Power Wagons?
@firebreathinggarage21173 жыл бұрын
Finding a good exhaust manifold will be difficult, good news a good welder can repair that one.
@DIYSCOTT3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know vintage power wagons has a couple but some times they are picked over. Good to know a welder can fix it because I believe it is cast iron?
@firebreathinggarage21173 жыл бұрын
@@DIYSCOTT yeah it's cast, but a good welder can fix it.

hear the old guys. make it run, the metal/paint work can wait. paint the chassis and cab floor underside and leave the rest until it runs. cause it costs time and money to do right! an engine you get on the scrap yard for small money, a diesel would be cool.

I agree but it's gotta be a period correct flathead

One of the connections on the intake manifold went to the wipers, which are missing. I think the bigger one went to a Pcv system (missing on mine). Basically plug everything up.
@DIYSCOTT4 жыл бұрын
Yes. Thank you! I actually just found the missing pipe inside the cab that goes from the manifold to the wipers. Going to have someone put on the tires and do the brakes to get it driving safely. We are going to look closer at the distributor. Will check the points and check for a spark. Hopefully can get it started soon. Thanks :)

Your cab floor looks much better than mine too!
@JDawghasaTruck4 жыл бұрын
Here’s the thing. You can throw money at these forever! Get an idea in your head how far you want to go with it. Don’t make stupid modifications to it and then later on somebody else can do more. As for the bed, probably a flatbed temporarily would be good. Don’t spend a pile of money on a bed unless your sure it’s the correct one for this truck. There were a couple different versions depending on year.
@deanbenson68793 жыл бұрын
Often Surplus trailers will provide an acceptable box replacement.
@DIYSCOTT3 жыл бұрын
@@deanbenson6879 Yeah I finally found a bed! But while searching I actually discovered a similar thing that a lot of people once their power wagons stopped working chopped the rear frame and left the bed on and made them into trailers.
@JDawghasaTruck4 жыл бұрын
Top rear manifold goes to wipers. Pipe below carb maybe pcv (missing from mine). Stud on the side is for throttle linkage

Your tires actually hold air! Only one of mine did when I got it. It is a dangerous job to change those tires, find some old dude with experience 😉.
@JDawghasaTruck4 жыл бұрын
Always check the points. Probably corroded, can be cleaned. Condenser may be bad (was on mine). Check inside of cap for arcing. And rotor. Probably best to replace cap, rotor, condenser. I’m actually still using the points somebody put on more than 40 years ago! Check for spark at points first, then coil, then plugs.
