I would catch that Dmax up on all of the maintenance (filters, fluids) and make any repairs if needed. Keep it completely stonk and baby it. And, take the key out of it when you park it. 😊

I started a Tow truck company in 2011 and I have had every kind of Diesel truck from the big 3 and I can tell you hands down nothing even comes close to the reliability of the GM Duramax with the allison trans. The Fords were a nightmare with engine problems,one problem after another. The Dodge with the cummins the engines were okay until the bolt in the grid heater breaks and destroys the engine. The Dodge transmissions were very weak ,had replace a few and the Dodges had a bad habit of cracking flexplates especially while towing heavy loads.

I run a tree service and we've had many of the big three diesels and currently have fords 550 with dumpbox and a Chevy 6500 to pull the chipper when you're using them to tow heavy every day of their life maintenance and breakdowns are inevitable but the new Fords seem to have the most minor engine issues nothing crazy yet but Chevy has been the least expensive to run and maintain... Gave up on dodges because the cost and transmission issues and flexplate problems it had gave me more than i had time to deal with... Traded it in on the 6500 and never looked back, but it was by far the easiest to work on and problen solve on the chevy and ford are so crammed in there I'd have to think they take the cab off when they do any kind of major work are you be taking out everything just to get at minor shit half the time ... Basically what it comes down to is what you like and what you want ... They are all nice trucks and everything has its own drawback but having over a quarter million miles already I think buying that Chevy especially since you know where it came from is the smart move for yall... Where else are you going to find that nice of a Chevy where you know the history like you do on that one...

On the Cummins make sure the exhaust brake is always on either full on or automatic (both loaded or unloaded). This makes sure the vanes are used all the time and do not get build up and hang open or closed. For next time or everyone else. Geno's Garage (great place for Cummins parts not a sponsor) has a a new aftermarket actuator, stronger and no calibration needed, much cheaper than a new turbo if your is still good.

The new shop is looking sharp. One thing at a time, I get it, but you might want to put on your wish list to install a couple those little round exhaust trap doors at the bottom of the garage doors and snake an adjustable exhaust hose from whatever vehicle you are working on through those openings to keep the fumes outta the shop.

If it’s a work truck it’s Cummins. For us…Every brand has their issues and every brand is “expensive “ it’s a diesel so unfortunately it comes with the territory. So long as you keep up on maintenance ( which isn’t bad ) and you address the “issues/faults” of any of the brands, you’ll enjoy whatever mfg you pick for many many miles. With all that said that’s a damn good looking 3500 Bob has there✅ 🤜🏼🤛🏼

I would love to know how I was unsubbed? My guess? I do a lot of walking & getting up & down with boxes at work working for a large retail home improvement store that rhymes with Know's. I am usually the 1st one on vehicle repairs & maintenance but, not having a garage & this frigid weather in O.H. is killing me. I have to install new fuel, & return lines, front half shaft, serpentine belt tensioner, plus, I ordered all new brake components when I did my brakes last! I realized that 1 caliper is sticking, so I ordered everything new from lines to pads. I primed & painted the calipers & centers of the rotors. You are blessed do to all of your hard work & family ethic. I am stressing the freezing work I must do!

Bucko adds humor to already very entertaining videos, him moving Molly's car was a hoot. Bucko is correct though about the Duramax diesel and being a lifelong Ford guy and an owner of a 2015 F250 Super Duty Diesel 4x4 I can verify that the Cummins by far is the easiest to work on. Being diesels they all cost a bit to repair because you can put higher mileage numbers on them than any gas engine. Is what it is but the Cummins is definitely easier to work on, older design and not as fuel efficient but is a good diesel. Looking forward to seeing what the nova can do with new powerplant. Is it going to be on boost or the bottle? Go fast and be safe. God bless you and your family and friends.

I'd buy a duramax because I'm a GM guy. The smart thing to do would be to look into what hot shot truckers, or fleets that have different brands of trucks think of the year and brand you are looking at. Business owners with multiple trucks tend to worry about reliability more than brand loyalty like most individuals. A truck that is hard to work on but rarely fails is much better than one that is easy to work on but fails often, in my opinion.
@justinb363
@justinb363 Жыл бұрын
Had a hotshot company for several years. Cummins left me hanging multiple times. From the junk transmission that you can't bulletproof to the body control modules. Only issue I ever had out of my 5 Duramax rigs from 2014 to 2019 was with the DEF DPF. Absolute only issues. That 13 GMC has the most comfortable interior out of all of my trucks. Dodge was second. Duramax hands down in my opinion. Only thing you will hate on the GMC will be when the passenger side head light goes out. It is not a quick bulb change. However you guys could whip it out pretty quick. I suggest a FASS Fuel System, will help since you guys travel so much and you have no idea where your fuel will come from. Anyhow, my two cents. Love the channel and those classic muscle cars!

As far as pulling trucks go, I have had all three. Seemed like the ford had twice the power of the Chevy and the dodge. We tested that theory pulling a 450 dozer, not even close. I now have a dodge 2500, 22 model. Everything seems good on it but the transmission makes me a little nervous with how it acts. I would stay away from def fluid if at any way possible. The gmc duramax is actually a good vehicle. A family member has one and uses it to pull a trim carpenter trailer daily and all we modified was the passenger inner fender well so we could maintain filters,lol. Also was lifted 3”-5” and a front leveling kit with backup rear airbags for when he pulled the car trailer or 30’ camper to get rid of the bucking. Never had an issue with suspension that’s for sure.

Well it'll kinda give u an idea of wat the carb will do but it would be right bcuz the motor is stock wit just a can n gonna have an 950 carb on it which is way over kill for that setup but u will get an idea of it so wantd to make sure u knew that carb will be to much but bill will get it best as he can for motor. Be different if motor was built wit pistons / rods n bigger cam for it be different story then

I will also add if I was in the market for a tow rig as a diesel technician I would look at a 2020 up F350 with 7.3L gasser with 10spd Torqueshift Transmission. Will pull anything y'all have and no expensive diesel up keep. Just a my personal opinion as I know what one tank of bad fuel can do to a modern diesel fuel system.

Bill I’ve been wondering if I was missing videos or been unsubscribed. Guess not! You guys have gotten a lot done. New lifts look awesome! As far as new diesels, they all have issues. I’ve owned three in last four years. Everyone one of them comes down to fuel or exhaust issues. Good thing is Buck-O seems to know how way around them so finding whichever one is easiest to work on is probably your best bet! Buck-O is correct, maint is absolutely the key cuz they aren’t getting any cheaper. Still kicking myself for downgrading to a half ton!

Purchased my first diesel truck and it's a 05 duramax I've had no issues and have had it for over a year. Love it so far. All vehicles will require money and maintenance. It's how they work

Im a farm kid so usually I was lucky to get to work on my vehicles or the farm equipment in the driveway, because it was usually in the field or off the side of the driveway in the yard lol, the garage was usually so full of equipment and parts and garden tractors and mowers you could not use the garage and neither of my 4x4 k20 square body trucks would fit in the door anyway, and the 4spd 350 quadrajet Rochester 4bbl carburetor 81 Chevy c20 Scottsdale fertilizer truck that used to do manure hauling duty lol it would actually fit the front of the truck and part of the cab in the garage but none of us wanted it anywhere near the garage or the driveway lol
