I am a woman I have three vehicles and one is a 2004 Dodge Ram. I want to change the battery myself because I want to save the money and I think I can do it. What I like about your video is that its FEMALE FRIENDLY. And that tool you broke out I have to have one of those. My problem is having 3 cars its hard for me to drive all of them. I bought the truck to haul a 10' canned ham trailer. Its a great truck 6 cyl runs great but I let it sit to long I guess. I live in California and pep boys is $189.00 for a battery and change. And $150.00 from my mechanic. But after watching your video Its given me the I can do this. Thanks its a great video and I hope you continue to do female friendly video's. Liz

I like to take the Neg off first. Once I took the Pos off first and swung it away from the battery and it hit something and SPARKS ALL OVER THE PLACE. hahahaha lEARNED A LESSONG THAT DAY. NEG FIRST FROM THEN ON..

I like to put a light coat of copper or the silver aluminum anti-size on the posts and terminals. Since there's metal particles in the anti-seize, I would think it should help with conductivity and at the same time protect against corrosion! What are your thoughts on this?

+mrexecutive1 I generally stay away from anything like that on terminals, the mixing of the metals and their reaction with the electricity flow causing an electro galvanic corrosion reaction worries me. With the dielectric grease they are protected and it has no potential reaction with the metals or the environmental factors surrounding it. The dielectric grease has been the sure fire way to prevent corrosion issues for me for many many years now.

You didn't use a Memory Saver. Usually if the computer loses it's memory, the trans shifts funny for a day or so. It also may stall when you stop.

I coat those threads with wheel bearing grease.

+srercrcr Better than nothing, but bearing/chassis grease can absorb up to 50% of it's weight in water when just exposed to air. Eventually causing more corrosion. Anti-Seize is the way to go. Brian got every little detail correct (as usual!).

+srercrcr I have seen it done both ways and they both work. I would imagine marine grease would be best for the threads in that environment though.
