Got to say a big thank you for your video. Never have replaced the power steering pump myself and certainly never the vacuum pump seals. Was up in the Ga mountains and power steering we not out. No places were open to tow and had to do the repair on a gavel lot. Just had to say thanks for all the direction and information. Went together perfect. Thanks!

I just replaced mine and resealed my vac pump while I don’t have any leaks my brakes pulsate now like something is getting air into it I bled the power steering like he did as well. Any insight?

1055 pull the gear out all the way then tightening the bolts between the two halves of the vacuum pump was a great tip. Thanks. My gear shaft tightened up same as yours did and had to come back to take a look.

The 1996 Shop Manual also says you can use silicone or molar seal to hold that main gasket in place when installing the whole unit back in place to the timing chain cover.

Awesome, I watched other vids but no one else mentioned bleeding the system which I was curious about since I had done the hydro-boost a few years ago and it was required on that as well. Thanks a bunch!

It's a $1400 job at the Dodge dealer, because they replace the vac & ps pumps, charging 20% premium on diesel labor.

I didn't hear anything about using a double seal until 11:38. Did I miss something?

Great video Russell. My brakes got hard to push and I thought it might be a problem with the hydro boost but the issue persisted so now I think I may have to rebuild/replace the vaccum pump.

It’s on the horizon for me to do this. Oil leak has developed on the pump / vacuum pump. I will make sure I have the vacuum pump seals as well

been nice to see how you got the pressure line on

I never saw you check the vanes, also the drive coupling is the name of the you call a mechanism. Someone asked about the pressure line install, it is best to start it before you mount the unit to the timing housing. The power steering pump has its own seal, nothing to do with the vacuum pump seal which is sealing engine oil only.

and why does it exhaust into a sealed chamber where air can not escape?
@williamvaughn98703 жыл бұрын
I have a 2000 w/Cummins I have a oil leak and looks like it could be where the vacuum pump bolts on, does that sound possible to you?

Jus being a know-it-all but if return lines are getting brittle should've put new ones on, but i'm weird that way. :-)

will the vacuum pump seal leak also cause a power steering fluid leak?
@DieselWorld7 жыл бұрын
Yes it can.

Does this part has to do w/making the brakes works properly?????
@andrewkresek45502 жыл бұрын
The brakes run off the hydraulic pressure created by the power steering pump and modulated by the hydrobooster. No power steering pump = no steering and no brakes.
