Dodge Ram intermittent windshield wiper failure, fixed!

Working on the wipers of my 2008 Doge Ram 2500. They we're failing to stop at the bottom on the intermittent settings. Fix was quick, easy, and free!

I know you did this a year ago, but THANK YOU!! Did exactly what you did, and it worked perfect. The one thing I really don't understand though is the grease in it is a dielectric which means it does not transmit electricity / has I very high resistance value. I tested the grease in the wiper motor and that is the case, won't transmit elictricity. So why would they fill the cavity with a grease that does not allow the flow of voltage but yet by the pure nature of the mechanism, it needs to transmit voltage to operate??? Grandpa always said, if it aint broke don't fix it. So I put new grease in it, and it works great. WTF? Side note, I sanded the contacts with 1K grit to remove the oxides. If any one can answer the grease question, I would appreciate it. Once again, thank you for the vid, worked perfect.

If the grease was a conductor all the contacts would interact and be useless. The grease prevents the three rings from jumping to eachother.

Im going to give this a shot before I purchase a new wiper motor for a new control switch for the inside on the column. Good video 👍

The problem is the brass contactors. After a while the contact tips will become dry and scrape into the black plastic housing. With a 120 or higher grit, gently remove the black plastic from the contactor tip. If it's black sand it slightly. Don't go crazy. A little love is all it needs. Where the 3 gold connection strips cross under two rings, you need to add the dielectric grease there. It acts as a well to keep the tips lubricated.

The issue I had with my 3500 is that the blades where just to snug to the windshield

will when i start my truck up the wind shield wipers turns on there own even when i open the door without the truck being on the wind shield wipers starts moving . Would have any ideas what’s causing that????? Than

I know this is an old post, but thought I would ask anyway. Do you know if the intermittent wipers are controlled by the PCM/computer. I just put a plug and play PCM in my van and shortly after I started having this problem

I don't know for sure, but I would think not. It should have a fairly standard timer controller between the stalk and the motor.

Mine stay up when the multifunction switch is off wich I did "replace" they stay up I will try this if not praying a new motor will work

yea...same issue. The pause happens half-way through and stopping in the middle of my windshield. not clear on what the fix exactly was except to reapply the dielectric grease? correct?
