DODGE RAM- Troubleshoot & replace wiper motor & multi-function switch

Wipers on my 94 Cummins were not fully working properly- couldn't figure out if it was the wiper motor, or the multi-function switch. So we test & investigate both. This covers all Dodge Rams from 1994-2002, & many others in principle.
Here's what we found.....

Thank you for posting this video. I followed your process to the point of almost replacing the motor but while I was inspecting it I noticed 1 of the 3 bolts had a copper clip and it was corroded along with the bolt. I figured that clip was the ground connection, so ran I separate wire from that clip to the chassis - Lo n behold everything worked fine! Lesson: easiest thing to check the ground just by putting wire to the part which holds the wire connectors to the chassis.

I was looking to find out where the resistor was. Figures it's on the motor because, of course I already changed the multi switch! Now I know for sure. Thanks for the video brother.

What about the module by the steering column that controls the wipers ? A lot of ppl say they have to replace that if motor and multifunction switch doesn’t fix it.

had the same issue with wipers but also i would turn the left signal on ant the right would flash and vise versa, cracks me up while driving, people probably think i don't know which way i wan to go or messing with them. LOL new switch at amazon 47 bucks even cheaper at other online stores.

The larger connector connected to the wiper motor, what is that called? Pig tail?

Everything functions on mine but they won’t shut off. Hopefully changing the switch will fix it.

@@jacoboverton777 I figured mine out, it was the circuit board on the wiper motor. I need to replace my entire wiper motor to fix it. Since I don’t drive it very much I just unplug the motor if it isn’t raining.

Rarely ever had issues with it- if I do, I take it back & get another one. Plus new is 5x more expensive; used ones will still last me 4-6 years. By then I usually have sold the truck or retired it
