@fubaracing a local hardware shop, but the depot or lowes should have a low tension spring you could use with wire cutters to get the size you need. Looking for around 3.5-4in depending on tension

They did right with a recall and replaced the parts for anyone that took in their. Sometimes issues like these cant be uncovered during the normal testing phase.

Yep, this is true. However in case you are stuck and cant get to a dealership, this is an option!

Este metodo es el mejor, pues "la cosa rosa" realmente "sube", y por lo tanto el resorte de compresion "lleva" un movimiento mas natural por el camino asendente. Gracias por su tiempo. This method is best, because "pink thing" really "up" and therefore the compression spring "leads" a more natural movement on the road asendente. Thanks for your time.

correction... it happened as I was parking in angle parking at store and put it in reverse to adjust and when I moved the shifter... the car acted as if in Neutral and I was stuck in the lane with a car behind me trying to get by and one in front.. so I moved the shift to Neutral and then reverse and suddenly the car backed up so I was able to maneuver into a slot backing up. I hoped to drive off when I came out the store... started engine, moved shifter to D, and the car didn't move---and neither did the dash reading.

hmmm R P's problem sounds familiar and Myke66 your solution sounds better... THAT SOUNDS ACCURATE.. BUT THIS AREA MECHANIC swears in my case the transmission, steering column, and ignition needs replacing but says he's going with bare minimum...

Great video! Thanks, Myke. I can't tell, however, what adhesive (or whatever) you're using to help secure the spring to the plastic. Picture's a bit fuzzy and it's not a product I'm recognizing right off. Can you post the name of the product? Again--very helpful info!

@aequintanilla To be honest, im not sure. I know that the avenger and calibur share similar parts, but im not sure about a charger. Are you having the same issue? Id just pop it apart and take a look inside and see if it looks similar.

What if the you try to take it out of park and your gear wont engage?

Yes, just a dot to keep the base in place

I just experienced shifting from park to reverse... or drive... etc... the car doesn't move. The dash reading PNRD3 doesn't move even the shifter is moving. I just had it towed. This doesn't seem the same as you described here... but myke66 I'd appreciate in ideas...

K Davis My dodge avenger 2010 also read PNRD8 and I was able to move the gear but it won't change on my dash board.What did you do to get it fix ?

This is a recalled part. Take it to dodge and have them fix it for free. Mine did the same thing

So i Got my car back into park, but now when i Shift the gear, it wont register in my screen that im in the drive slot... any ideas?

Try manually moving the pink tab and parts to get it to shift without a spring and see if it shifts correctly, if it does it could be the tension on the spring, otherwise it could just be a bad shifting unit that would need to be replaced.

thanks for your reply! I discovered that It was the gear shift bushing next to the transmission that had broke thanks to plastic parts.
