Dodge TIPM low beam repair.

This is a quick video of a TIPM from my 2002 Dodge Ram which had the low beam issues everyone has had. Just a quick video of the issue, cause, and repair.

If you have only the rear passenger turn signal operating and a problem with your headlights and emergency flashers Curt's fix will absolutely repair your problem! An important step that is not in this video would be how to remove the fuse box and how to separate the fuse panel from the box to gain access to the printed circuit board. There is a KZbin video that does show how to do this. If you look closely you will see three recessed buttons, either use a screw driver and break them off or carefully drill them out. Then pry around the sides to separate. Curt thanks so much, great to have my truck on the road again!

I had same thing. right rear turn signal only. No power to other 3 blinker bulbs. Had left headlight on bright and right headlight on dims. Soldered the wire just like you did and it works fine. Dodge service guy said $1700 to fix it. Thank you so much for this video.

i have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 and was having the low beam issue with no turn signals outside but flashed fast on the cluster panel also said lamp out so i did exactly what you said in the video and it works perfect thank you so much for sharing and saving me about $1000

Had the identical problem in the exact location of the board. I was having multiple issues with turn signals, low beams , front and rear. Followed your lead and it worked perfect. No more problems

Many thanks for this. Had the exact same problem on my 05 ram and now works great again. I tried soldering the trace on the other side but solder would not bond to the board, I'm a rookie at soldering but this was much easier to accomplish.

Some advice for those who decide to use a salvaged TIPM rather than repair. First of all, this is NOT a TIPM, it's an IPM. These earlier Dodges (up to '06 I believe) used an IPM (basically a fuse box with circuitry) which had a FCM (front control module) bolted on to it. A TIPM has the two parts combined as one unit. The FCM contains an eeprom which is married to the VIN# of the vehicle. If you swap out the IPM make sure you use your existing FCM (it's the aluminum box on the side of the IPM). If you use a salvaged IPM including FCM, you'll have all kinds of odd 'Lamp Errors' which will entail having your vehicle reprogrammed. To sum up: The IPM is 'plug & play' as long as you use the original FCM.

It's hard finding information about the IPM on my '04 Ram because it's impossible to search for "IPM" without getting videos about "TIPM". Is there any way to determine if my FCM is the factory one? I have tons of questions about the various CMs on my Dodge and cannot find reliable answers anywhere. My main question is whether or not I even have a Body Control Module since my truck has no power accessories. I bought the truck specifically because it has manual transmission, manual windows, manual door locks, manual transfer case... it's as "dumb" a car as you can get these days. I really want to ditch the IPM and FCM in favor of running the lights through an ordinary fuse box but I don't know if I can do that without causing the ECM to panic. As far as I can figure, the ECM is the only box on the truck that actually serves a purpose.

I have a 2004 Ram in for repair and I took apart the IPM and saw no damage/flaws to the circuit board. I'm now assuming the FCM is the problem.

I think this might be my issue too. I have an 07 ram with no power to the driver side low beam. Haven't taken apart the TIPM yet but I guess that's the next step since there's no fuse for the headlights.

a friend has 2007 calibre. head light on passenger side not coming on. lost the ground connection ,it seems . bared ground connection on light socket, connected a ground wire light worked.

My 2004 dodge Ram 1500 had low beam issue. Replaced FCM(Front Control Module) . Fixed problem for 2 months then all my lights went out but one head light and high beams. Yes I checked all the connections under the fuse box. All were tight and I cleaned them the first time with emery cloth even though they had no corrosion on them Then a few days later they started working again. Is it possible that the FCM I installed was OK and its the fuse box circuit board. I'm guessing the remanufactured FCM I installed was defective. But not realy sure. I installed another remanufactured FCM from Rock Auto. Original cost was $341.00, but they give me a $220.00 core refund if I send it back. My understanding is they do not make new FCM. If they did I would have bought one. Could it be the fuse box circuit board? My truck only has 40 thousand miles on it and has spent most of its life in very dry desert climate. No rain or salt .issues

It would be great if you could give us more specific instruction and description from start to finish. Like wheres the headlight board found and how'd you get in there. Also what board and which of the pins we need to solder the wires to. You know, a little help for us dumb guys that really need good clear instructions.

Was that burned trace on 1 side of the board? If so, just to help others out. You can remove mask from the thick parts of the trace and attach your jumper there. It would be a shorter jump and larger area to attach the jumper. Just a guess, the jumper to that small pin may heat up a detach. But you wont know until you try right.

I Have the same problem right rear turn signal is only one working and right headlight works but when I hit high beam that light goes out and the other light is on high beam

CURT DONAHOO, I'm not sure if a TIPM circuit is just a fuse box or does it convert CAN signals into LIN signals and other signals?

Are these TIPMs wired in parallel and sometimes one of the lines go bad so only certain circuits are affected while others continue running?

This just happened to my 96 Ram 1500 and now I have 7 days to fix it or $150.00 fine. High beams work and fog lights work. So just jump/bypass the burnt spot ??

my 2004 ram having some light issues aswel, no rear brake lights, no turn signals at all, right front low beam only. Took apart the TIPM and got it down to the board, seen the EXACT same spot in your video (before i seen the video) and assumed it was damage from prying up on the board accidently. wondering if i run a jumper like in the video i can fix this? how did yours turn out?
