this was the easiest and simplest way for me to install my electric brake controller without having to pay extra money for a wiring harness to the factory wiring harness which can cost you anywhere from $10 to $20 extra.
Here is a cheap connective which goes between the trailer brake controller and the truck wiring harness this one's only $8 although you'll probably have to cut off the end to the controller and wired up directly like I did but at least you can plug it directly into the truck wiring harness.

Alright but, can you elaborate on how the controller tells the trailer to brake? Is it wireless? Do I need a new adapter plug for the back? Let's assume I don't have a plug at the rear. Thanks.

Okay if you DON'T have a direct plug-in the cab for the controller or a plug to the trailer on the back of your vehicle. Then you will need a full wiring harness + trailer plug and this brake controller. Now some vehicles will still have the brake controller plug in the cab that runs from the brake control switch but no wire to the rear of the vehicle for a trailer plug, also if you had a light duty 3 or 4 prong trailer plug which is usually just flat that plug will not work with. You will need a round style plug built for trailer. Okay so how the controller works on my vehicle and there's a little round turn off which controls the intensity of breaking, so when the power is set low the brakes come on very lightly but when I just a adjust it to a higher power the brakes come on firmer so you can adjust it to your load. So Light loads you have is set on a low power and heavy loads you set it to higher power. Before taking it (truck and trailer) on the road you do a light brake check to make sure you feel the trailer drag on breaking. The big slide lever up front of the controller it's kind of like an emergency brake you can slide it slightly for more power or all the way over to lock the trailer brakes up completely in case of a emergency. Hopefully this explains it more in detail and knew how it works and what to look for.

I wish you would have identified the wires to the blue plug under the dash, the only one that is a sold color is blue,

Okay the wiring should be black is power the white is ground, red is your brake, and blue goes trailer brake. Hope this helped. I believe I was going to put it in but when I washed explaining it the mic was so bad I couldn't use that section.

@@stephengoad3091 thank you, I had that code ,plus I looked it up, plus it came in the box, it's the Primus controller, what I didn't have was the tell tell to the black with red strip, white with blue strip, red with Orange strip, blue with yellow strip that was already run to the plug and play under the dash I cut off to save a few bucks to wire the controller straight up. I hooked the mostly white up to the all white from the controller, and the black with small red strip up to the red, well it kinda worked, I went and looked at the plug and play from the store and I seen that I had those two reversed, I changed them and now I have trailer brakes working correctly, who would have thought the black with tiny red strip goes to the white with tiny red stripe. but what I just told you is no where to be found on google or KZbin, probably because of the Gillian different brake color wires on so many different vehicles under each rig, anyway thank you
