Kind of glad they kept the Viper N/A for now. It really sets it apart from the Hellcats. Even if the power numbers aren't quite as high at the top end, the extra 2 cylinders and that beastly sound for sure make up for it.
@ErectileSceptile4 жыл бұрын
I never understood the N/A obsession. Supercharge basically just N/A sound + squeal, and turbos just sound awesome. I look at a N/A and I guess I could say it's good because the manufacturer gives you the choice eon whether you'd like to turbo or supercharge it rather than choosing for you.
@jaketonsfeldt48743 жыл бұрын
@@ErectileSceptile people like na cars bc they usually sound better since it’s just engine noise (especially compared to turbos), power delivery is more linear, usually rev higher, and there’s just something about them that feels right. I like fi cars but I’m more of an na guy

Matt, I want to say, thank you. Because of this video, when I was shopping for my first supercar 3 months ago, I purchased a Gen V Viper GTS. The Viper had never crossed my mind prior to that. Even though I'm a Mopar guy (I own a Charger), I've always let the media paint such a terrible picture of this car for me. This video put the Viper on the table for me. After driving a number of cars at the track and the street thanks to friends (GT-R, Gallardo, R8 V10, C7 Z06), I finally decided to drive a Gen V Viper as my last option. That's all it took. One drive in a Viper for the light bulb to go off in my head and it all made sense. 3 months into my ownership and I couldn't be happier. The GTS has more insulation, nicer leather, and 18 speaker sound system and adjustable suspension so it's much nice to live with on a daily basis and on the street, but is just as capable on a mountain road or track. It's an excellent machine and I'm so glad your video influenced me to consider it. Keep up the great work and maybe once I have a few mods on my GTS (I have a few planned), you'd be interested in doing a One Take on it since I live in Los Angeles close to the Snake and Angeles Crest. Cheers!

Interesting fact is, the actual displacement of Viper is 8382cc V10. Anyway, 8.4L OHV V10, RWD, Manual, track focused chassis setting, fat tire, side pipe, 645 horsepower, 600 lb/ft, C7 Z06 destroying acceleration, etc... No reason for not loving this car.

NISMO N ATTACK 東瀛戰神 all the z06's do 0-60 in under 3.2. The auto does 2.9 in all of them. Above 135ish i hear that the z07 slows way down, from experience the stage 2 goes strong well over 160, and the stage 1 i'm sure will do over 200. The stage 1 is the biggest competitor to the viper

Matt, thank you for taking the time to show what this car is capable of instead of bashing it like most others do. The cool part about the Viper is that it has a personality that most other cars could never even dream of having and it's one of the last REAL drivers cars. It's truly one of a kind. The price drop was a huge step in the right direction for it too, I hope to see more of them on the road soon. The Viper is also a perfect example of what American car companies are capable of building when the engineers are in control instead of the accountants.
@NoahBB10 жыл бұрын
Seems like the TA is in a way similar to the V12 Vantage, it's not a car you buy because it's the fastest, it's a car you buy because of the driving experience and it's "specialness". Undoubtedly people will make the comparison that a C7 Z07/Z06 will beat this for the same price, but will it actually be as awesome as this orange beast? Up to personal preference.

Slickpete83 Have fun and be careful! Cameras never do this road justice. I think it's the camera's FOV. Not only does it make the car seem slower than it's actually going, but in reality, the turns are a lot tighter and the straights a lot shorter than how they appear here. You can't really see the turn's banking either from the video. I mean the car already looks like it's fast in this video, can't imagine how it was in person. Must've been quite a ride.

+Paul Jeitler I had no idea that the Viper ACR was that capable. Can it really take on La Ferrari? That's pretty impressive for a car that on paper has 300 hp and 300 nm of torgue less than the Ferrari. Do you have any links? I would love to see that video or info.
@pauljeitler76789 жыл бұрын
+Jonas Rosenven like I said, there's videos of the 918 Spyder beating the La Ferrari (search for "hyper 5" on youtube for example) and the ACR Vipers runs around a track faster than the 918 so... (I believe it was at Virginia International Raceway that the ACR beat the 918 and I even think they were both driven by Randy Pobst but don't take that for granted) the ACR holds 13! track records right now! that's more than any other production car at the moment (if not ever) and it produces a maximum downforce of 2000lbs, which is more than any other production car EVER! the previous generation ACR was a track beast and this one is even meaner - of course the La Ferrari, 918 ect. are going to be way better for day to day life (which I'd expect for the difference in price...) but the Viper is the ultimate street legal track weapon (coming from a diehard Corvette-fan)

The Viper TA is the fastest purist track car that you can buy. In a short time, you won't be able to buy a sports car with a NA engine, stick shift, and hydraulic steering; the Z06 was already forced to supercharging in order to meet emission targets. While the latter is still fast, Motortrend's recent test saw it overheating after four laps, so it seems this car and the Z/28 are among the last of the endangered purebred track monsters. Get them while you can.

If you don't see the benefits of this car over a hellcat, stop talking about cars. Do some research bc you know nothing.

Wait till you drive the new ZO6! It will blow your mind it's so fast. Randy Pobst was speechless while driving one recently with an 8-speed auto...and that's rare ;) Don't get me wrong, love the Viper T/A also...

Both great cars. I love how Viper, Vette, Hellcat, Z/28 are still the analog thing. Most european cars are more like video game.

I'm a Vette/Nissan Gtr guy but I would love to own a Viper. Mean looks, sound and the speed and handling to crush just about anything not called "hypercar"

You've gotta have fuck you money to drop six figures on a Viper, I had no idea they were that expensive.
@bicboi193010 жыл бұрын
bro it's a track focused road car. It's in the top lap times at many tracks and has the record at many. This is against many advanced ferrari's, lambos, and porsche's that are triple the price.
@SimpleSock10 жыл бұрын
Carter Morris I get it, if you want to blaze around a track all day with it maybe it's worth it, but even then there are cars that are a hell of a lot more practical in that price range that have similar lap times.

SimpleSock I agree. The base model still packs the V-10 which is notoriously impractical for daily driving . If Dodge wants to sell more of those, they should consider a couple of lesser models. An $55K 485 hp 31500 lbs V-8 version, a $70K 550 hp 3200 lbs version and add 25 hp to the current V-10. They be selling a lot more than 100 a month

This Viper owner can afford the T/A but can't afford to hardwire his radar detector. OMG this is such a huge pet peeve of mine!!!

They need drop the hellcat engine in that bitch if their charging $100,000 plus! Why would I pay $100,000 for a slower 2 seater when the hellcat charger and challenger is $60,000?
@TheSmokingTire10 жыл бұрын
dave dunn 1) It's not slower, 2) The Hellcat engine doesn't fit in the Viper. It's too high and wide.
@RumblestripDotNet10 жыл бұрын
640hp 3300lbs for the Viper, 707 hp 4400lbs for the Challenger, 4500 for the Charger. How is the Viper slower?
@iSOBigD10 жыл бұрын
Rumblestrip.NET According to their own claims, the Charger can get to 3 seconds or less with slicks and get supercar 1/4 mile numbers. It's actually faster than the 2 door challenger and faster than their current Viper, again, according to Dodge's claims. So yeah, it's a legit question to ask why pay double for something slower and less usable. I find that the Viper looks great, but you buy supercars for performance, right?
@stoopidvideo10 жыл бұрын
iSOBigD Yea but Viper will demolish it on the track.
@RumblestripDotNet10 жыл бұрын
iSOBigD The operative words are "with slicks" Drop some slicks onto a Viper and see how quick it is.

Matt I love these one-shot videos better than the "pretty" and pricier DRIVE videos. These videos are raw, get your real emotion and reactions, and even better- show your driving skills and your commentary as you are reacting to the experience. Its the perfect what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of review and I love it. Keep up the great work.
