Matt, the Del Rae in Pico is fantastic. The fam and I went there a few years ago for New Year’s and it didn’t disappoint. They are known for their Pepper Steak and it’s really good. Very cool Old School vibe. They’ll still have the Xmas decor up when you go and it’s a nice touch as well. Happy New Years boys!!!

Not to be bias. But I think the Dodgers pitching format for is perfect for a Pitcher coming from Japan with the 6 man rotation. It would be a lot easier transition to the MLB. How many other teams will use a 6 man rotation ? If he goes to a team with a 5 man rotation will he be able to last a whole MLB season ? It's a big change especially for a rookie coming to a New League & Country...

The Sasaki situation is feeling a bit like the Teo situation; i.e., an agonizingly long slog accompanied by incessant speculation, lol. Maybe Sasaki will do us all a favor by announcing his decision before the signing period begins!

One thing I can see as a reason Roki would not even consider the Phillies is that their rotation is full, and he wouldn’t for sure be given a full time starting roll. Wheeler, Nola, Sanchez, Suarez, just acquired Luzardo, and have Andrew Painter as probably the top pitching prospect in the sport. There rotation is pretty much set

I assume once sasaki has his initial meeting with San Diego, he will then identify the finalists (I am guessing two or three teams) and then arrange follow-up meetings with the finalists and then make a decision. I suspect the follow-up meetings are when he will get the tour of team facilities and when organizations will bring their star players (especially those from Japan) to those follow-up meetings. Hopefully, sasaki's selection criteria will be more clear. I just hope Roberts can keep his trap shut this time. As for Teo, I think the years are two too many. I think that's reflected in offers from other teams who were offering two year deals. Friedman may have gotten Teoscar to cave on deferrals and signing bonus, but he had to give three years and a buyout that pushes the deal to 3/$72.5 million (highly doubtful the team exercises the 4th yr option when he's 36). I personally think by year two, there will be significant drop off in average, contact rate, and OBP. His defense, which is currently bad, will be near unplayable by year three when he's 35 and his bat speed significantly slows, and his whiff rate spikes even higher. He should have received a 2 yr./1 with buyout. But I suspect teo refused to accept deferred money under those terms. Friedman may have gotten reduced the tax hit, but i think this is not a contract that will age well as far as value verses player performance.

They’re saying roki is back in japan now so does that mean he still hasn’t met with sd or do you think just their meeting wasn’t leaked?
@normlee656626 күн бұрын
@@phigher1 I don't know. However, he has until January 24th to sign, so there is a lot of time and it's a relatively short trip from Japan to the west coast, so he could fit an initial meeting with SD upon his return to LA. It may even be a zoom call for all we know. With all that public bragging by the SD manager being very confident in signing sasaki, I do have unfounded suspicions that SD has had personal contact with sasaki before he was even posted and behind his agent's back. This kid is a bit of a rebel who publicly criticized his Japanese club which is unheard of in Japan, and basically forced his way out which has resulted in some Japanese clubs and media criticizing him for doing so. Would it surprise me if he indicated to darvish during one of their private conversations that he would likely commit to SD but needs to put on a show first by meeting with other clubs? Not really. ultimately, it's all speculation. I would guess we will know by the end of the second week of January.
@phigher126 күн бұрын
@ that’s what I feel he has with the dodgers and I’m starting to think the padres interest has been all fabricated by the media and because his connection with darvish. Especially considering what direction they’re going (cutting payroll) and the most obvious obstacle about going to Sd, is that you’ll be in the same division as the DODGERS. He’s already sacrificing 100’s of m’s, why would he also sacrifice wins/success. If it’s not the dodgers it’s one of those teams on the list. I would guess Texas or NY. I am a little surprised Seattle didn’t make it. This kid wants to play in the postseason, more specifically the World Series. He got his first taste during wbc and then made up his mind for good right after 2024 World Series which I’m sure he tuned into. And I know sd had a good year, hell they were 1 game from probably winning the ws but dodgers can say that about a lot of years they didn’t win it all but the difference is dodgers reload in off season where as sd looks like they’re scaling back. But roki knows all this and if he still chooses sd then this man wants all the smoke 💨 and im about that too! We’ll see

San Diego Padres are the only California M.L.B team to never have won a World Series championship. All other M.L.B teams in California have won one, even the pathetic Angels have won a world series championship. The Dodgers, Giants, and A's have won multiple championships, not the Pods, and the reason is ownership and fan base, suck😅

If you take what his agent said there really is not other option than the dodgers. San Diego overall success is garbage, you have to win a World Series first, trading away cease, losing king next year and musgrove this year, losing Profar and Kim. San Diego last bit of glory was game three. Imagine having bogerts and machado from a decade yikers. The way this off season went they might finish third in the west probably fourth.
