6/18/2024: Willie Mays died today at 93 years old! Just had to hear Vinnie call the rhubarb in the Coliseum that involved a hit ball by Willie! Great stuff!

I had this album when I was 9 years old. I memorized every word. I haven’t heard this in nearly 40 years. Still brings tears. Went to my first dodger game in 1958.

Thank you so much for this........my father had this record and as a child I listened to it over and over. Vin Scully's magical calls of the Roy Campanella tribute and the Giants/Dodgers rhubarb were testimony of his matchless ability to make you feel as if you were right there at the event..........Scully is an artist and has entertained millions with his paintings for 67 years, a shooting star in the sports galaxy

About 2 yrs. ago, I was doing webcasting of HS and JC Calif. sports events. Amazingly....it must have been a spiritual gift from above, I did 2 games where I got to paraphrase Vin's words in each game.. The football game was a game that was sold out, and they arranged a tribute for someone or other at halftime, and had everyone wave their cell phone lights; so instinctively and gratefully I got to say, per Vin: "A sea of lights...." The other game was baseball: East L.A. College vs. Mt. San Antonio College in the conference playoff game at ELAC. Again, late in the game, someone hit a home run close to the foul pole; however, beyond the fence in HR territory, there was another black pole holding up something else on the school sports complex. The HR hit the pole beyond the HR fence, and kicked back over the fence, into outfield territory. Similar situation: a big argument over what happened, and which pole it hit, and HR or something else ? I felt like I was being watched over during those 2 yrs., that I got 2 similar situations I had always memorized from this recording. I mentioned this 1959 incident at the Coliseum as my partner and I were analyzing the situation and the argument. Very grateful for the opportunity.

My grandfather took me to the Series at the Coliseum in '59. I think it was game 4. I was only 10.
