There aren’t many places that you can expect thunderstorms with lightning every single day and night, but over the past couple of months we’ve witnessed the transition of seasons in Costa Rica from dry, to wet. What took us a while to realize though, was that we were sailing through one of the most notorious “lightning alleys” in the world, the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ. It is here that the Northern and Southern hemispheres prevailing trade winds literally collide, creating some spectacularly powerful thunderstorms. Unlike squalls, these thunderstorms not only bring strong gusty winds, but they also bring one of (at least these sailors) biggest fears while out on the ocean, lightning, and lots of it. We were unknowingly in for a wild ride to Nicaragua, which is our next destination, and one we’re high tailing it for tomorrow morning. Both Boundless and Teulu are up for the task, are we? This week we're taking the good with the bad, as we have some truly blissful moments in-between some of the scariest we’ve ever had out on the water. But first we need to check out of Costa Rica.

Parker and Katy, Nice video. I vacationed in Costa Rica three years ago. We stayed next door to Papagayo at Planet Hollywood. I would look over at the Marina every day and have a number of pictures with the marina in the background. I was nice waking up every morning to the Howlers in the jungle. We gave grapes to the White Faced Monkeys in the trees on the beach. You could set your clock by the rain each day; building up across the bay in the morning and moving over the bay in the afternoon to reach the resort around 4:30 PM. I did manage to go on a catamaran trip from the resort to the point at the opening of the bay. You guessed it, it was raining for half of the catamaran ride. The captain made some really great guacamole. It's nice that y'all, have been buddy sailing with Zack and Becka. I have been watching them since they went to purchase Teulu. Thank y'all for sharing. Cheers! Blue Skies, Fair Winds, and Cool Comfortable Air. Faithfully, James

12 hours to check out of Costa Rica! WOW! Great job. It took 2 1/2 days last time we checked out. We were sailing to Isla Del Cocos before departing Costa Rica - 6 day sail. They wanted us to return to the mainland after visiting the island to check out. Our forward destination was Galapagos. It made no sense to sail 6 days back then 6 more days out just to check out. It is the most disjointed and complex process I've experienced.

Playa del Coco was a very nice Anchorage when I was there in 2007. Your next stop should be in Puerto Angel Mexico a very small Anchorage and when I was there in 2007 you could check into the country at that Anchorage. And it is a very small quaint town I liked that place a lot also.

I think its great you are showing your ventures to include another KZbin channel. It seems so many times other channels try to hide who it it they are sailing with. I watch both of your channels and enjoy seeing both view points.

Guys! That's what I thought. If you're friends with Rebecca and Zach, I'm sure you could get along with Lauren Landers. Beautiful girl, captain of a yacht (and not only yachts, marine biologist and freediver). I am sure that your general video will help you all get the maximum number of subscribers. Password for communication with Lauren, traditionally, hello to the first mate Mikko)))) By the way, she is now not far from Costa Rica, and is going to Grenada)))) Sign up if you happen to find one.
