"It's a BEAD !" I could hear Alex's voice in my head as I looked down at the ground at a cobalt blue bead... in the parking lot of the YMCA in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Of course, I picked it up and thought, "Perfect for crafting" (a la Kit and Caboodlers) !

Such a wealth of finds from this bottle dump! The nude figure is probably a German "bathing beauty" from the 1920's/Art Deco period. They were very popular. I have 2 Dr. Kilmer's Swamp Root bottles, one a regular size and one a really tiny sample size, possibly smaller than yours. I had no idea the Dr. Kilmer made it all the way to the UK! I thought it was an American brand!

Hi guys! Love your programme and enthusiasm . On your pottery there are some terms you were looking for...so here goes: A raw clay item that has been thrown on the wheel, hand constructed, or made in a mold and has not been fired is called greenware. the first firing is the bisque fire the second firing is the glaze firing there are more firings and other alternate firings that can be done but not in your little kiln which doesn't fire high enough. althought these are the simplest examples, there are loads of fantastic books on pottery of all sorts including Raku (which is breathtakingly stunning!) All the best & keep on Mudlarking.

Hi I have a Dr Kilmers swamp root and kidney cure sample bottle I found at an old ash tip in Stockport. I found it buried upside down with the stopper still in and what I am assuming is the original "cure" amongst other small poison and wonky old old bottles and clay pipes. I am being genuine if you are interested in purchasing anything, I can provide pictures.

Dr Kilmers swamp root is still made today as a liver and kidney cleanse. Milk Thistle root is more popular. Kidney disease is very prevalent and people don’t really talk about it the way they talk about cancer. The stuff does help a bit

I believe the brown acorn thing actually came off the end of the water warmer you had found with the end missing...and i really guessed the glass prism to be a thermometer you may be able to buy a small thermometer and fit in the spot....love this place it holds lots more treasures and i really hope you repair the ladys body i collect pictures and statues of ladies especially older looking ones their beautiful.
@grahamcroft5643 жыл бұрын
My thoughts too Tammy. As soon as I saw the foot warmer without the end I immediately realised that the "acorn knob" found just before was probably the missing part (or at least the same part from another foot warmer). I didn't have to guess about the obelisk though as I recently found one with a broken thermometer in place.

Another fun video with you all, yay! That little mini acorn is almost the missing centre-piece of Willie's recent 'Motto' Ware find (Dirty Secrets of Scotland). There was a KKK tomato sauce on sale in Oz early 1900's, looking for any connection or possible slang/local saying, IE "triple a ok" denoting quality was shortened to KKK, or such.
