I see a commentated DOJ clear, I click :) enjoyed watching this, tons of good advice in here and you describe the psychological warfare aspect of the game really well! I don't think you're allowed to call yourself "not very good" anymore if you can manage such a clean survival run with Exy (random deaths happen to everyone, it's the routing that counts). Looking forward to your Ketsui clear with commentary.

I’ve started making KZbin videos again which is super fun. I’m thinking about switching from Ketsui to ESP Ra.De. just for a little bit, but Ketsui keeps calling me back. I was doing really well and then I hit a wall where every one of my runs seems to fall apart in stage 4 now. Maybe what I need is a long break. In fact just talking about it makes me want to play it now hah

@@TheHiddenFortress81 yeah, I saw you did a video on bullet hell obsession recently too, nice! Have you played any Esprade yet and if so, how do you find it? It's kind of weird in regards to difficulty, cause the bulk of the game isn't necessarily that bad, but then you have what is almost a mandatory TLB at the end...

@@hazylevels I haven't played enough to have a solid opinion but I figured, even if it isn't my cup of tea it's gotta be pretty good. Somebody else told me that the finay boss in ESP is insane too. It's kind of intimidating. All of these games are intimidating. To me anyway. I just feel like I should take a longer break from Ketsui, cause it feels like I'm getting nowhere. Or maybe not maybe I should keep pushing. I have a hard time NOT playing Ketsui now, because I'm worried playing another game like ESP or Espgaluda (I really like that one) might ruin whatever practice I've built with Ketsui. Maybe I should try to get into the Raizing stuff. There's so much stuff I want to play and I feel like I'm missing out on a lot. But Ketsui just keeps taunting me. What do you recommend? I need to see your Batrider and Bakraid videos still. Honestly, I think I'm starting to think I'll never get the 1CC in Ketsui.

Listen I'll admit this to you because you have like...a million 1CCs under your belt, but I think Ketsui has defeated me. But I can't admit it to Ketsui. :)

Awesome run bro. Believe it or not, runs like this are extremely valuable to people like myself because if you think about it, superplays with no bombing on the first loop are useless to me. I'm not gonna spend a literal 500-1000 hours of my life doing that, I just want a survival 1cc. So seeing a clear like this is actually way closer to my own goals and is very beneficial. I love your hyper to immediate bomb stacking technique. It's smart. I've left extra bombs floating on the screen in other shooters myself. Big brain move. I've gone through the mental battles you described in this video with my lesser clears so I'm happy to see your 1cc. It gives me hope. I beat DDP this year so I think my goal next year will be a DOJ Black Label 1-All. But yeah, one thing that helps me when I'm getting overly eager for the clear as I get close is to focus on cherishing the experience. Think about it. You're not just gonna stop playing shmups after a good clear. You're just gonna be right back in the grind again. That's the real game. That's the meat. So as I get close to the end I remind myself that no matter what I accomplish with a game in the future, you only get to have the experience of clearing a game for the first time once. So I cherish it, and suddenly I'm not stressed. I'm accomplishing something far more profound and special than a clear or high score: I'm a kid having fun with a video game again.

That’s actually a good way to put it dude. Like…putting yourself in the mindset of it doesn’t matter if I get the clear right now cause it’s gonna be the next game anyway. Also I wish I had the skill to go for even a Hibachi kill but that’s just so intimidating. So I just wanted to get the 1cc on black label 2 round and man it was so fun. Although it feels like the experience has started to spoil other games for me hah

It certainly does. This game was so mean to me. But it's so good. I'd like to go back to it someday but I feel like I'm pretty much tapped out at a 1 loop non Hibachi run at this point hah.

@TheHiddenFortress81 I have been playing this for years and I still can't pull off a 1cc. Now I'm on high blood pressure pills after years of being frustrated over these shmups I find impossible. Same with Ketsui. I don't know how you people in this community do it. Watched everyone's playthroughs over the years and I have a terrible time executing everyone's strategies. I eventually gave up 1ccing these because of my health problems. I'm the type that would throw controllers across the room if I lose.
