ESPgaluda is really well balanced. It was the first bullet hell I saw (PS2) where I thought it looked like fun and manageable. Then I tried it and said NOPE. But as time went on and I got more confident I got the clear and that was a big part of my shmup journey. But they sort of hit a great formula here because the scoring loop is great even just for fun and extra lives. The player has lots of moments for creativity and there's just a good split between "chill" and "insane" which makes runs seem more natural in how it regulates my stress levels. Anyways great run, and enjoyed the commentary too!

@@sibbyeskie it’s so nasty. The funny thing about these games, is like…I love playing them and to me it’s not stressful at all…until I’m in a run and I’m getting to the end and I realize wow this is a good run this might be it hahaha and then this dread creeps in like ohhh fuck. I actually feel better after losing a life or when I’ve spent all my bombs haha Oh one other thing. I’m a big fan of doggies. They’re the best people. I looked at some of your dog videos. :)

Sick clear! I'm chipping away at dodonpachi DOJ but I am often tempted to start routing this game. The only barrier as you said is the extreme difficulty spike at the end. Very reminiscent of Deathsmiles in that way, I think your reverse practice approach is the best one for games like this. For consideration for your next clear another Cave game I would recommend would be Mushihimesama Original. It's a pretty different flavor to most of Cave's other output, very fast bullets and no hyper/slowmo/etc. It's on the more memo heavy side, but not terribly complicated so it's pretty easy breezy to route, and it was a lot of fun for me to clear. The port on Steam is quite good too!

Nice job! I haven't played Espgaluda but that last phase is wild looking. Kind of reminds me how crazy Mushihimesama can get if you go for the true last boss compared to the rest of that game. I think Crimzon Clover is definitely worth a shot; to me its Novice mode is easier to 1CC than Blue Revolver's normal but its Arcade mode is tougher than Blue Revolver's Hyper. I love both games though, for separate reasons. Crimzon Clover has some really cool boss designs and puts you in a couple really unique situations. Whatever you go with next, I'm looking forward to it!

@@TheHiddenFortress81Futari is great! I need to go back to DOJ, I felt a bit intimidated by it since it looks a lot harder than the mushi games on original and whatnot, although M2s port at least has lots of useful training tools. For futari at least the final boss doesn't shield so if you have enough resources you can bomb spam to get through, otherwise final boss patterns feel like a huge difficulty spike and are very fast and hard to dodge reliably for someone like me whose bad at these games. Took awhile for me to get a clear but then I wasn't always sticking with it. Second half of stage 3 and stage 5 are the other toughest parts of the game I'd say. Oh but maybe play 1.5 unless you want to do 1.01 original which is waaaay harder from what I can tell(can't bomb spam as bombs do less damage to bosses, some patterns are faster, etc. boss 1 and 2 also are a bit harder in 1.01 so on the one hand maybe those will hold your attention better going for a clear in 1.01, in 1.5 the first 2 stages can get a bit old when the difficulty doesnt get going until stage 3 sorta like in this game, but then there is always going for more scoring in the early stages which makes them more fun again but also a lot riskier

Congrats on the clear! I agree with your criticism of the difficulty, there's just too big of a gap between the beginning and the end of the game. All the content is good, but the flow of run is off compared to DOJ or Ketsui. It's something a lot of the later Cave titles do, unfortunately. Btw based on how much you enjoyed stage 5 I think you might like Mushi Futari Black Label.
