www.callawaycars.com - Does a track day Corvette Callaway Z06 SC757 w/HD Cooling System really work in 110ºF+ conditions? Find out at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond CA.
HD Cooling System (Level 2) explained, and put to the test on a recently-built 25th Anniversary Edition, featuring the Champion Package and several competition options.
Let Callaway resolve your Z06's overheating issues.
While this test car was a 2016 7-speed manual, the system also performs well with 8-speed GM 8L90 automatic-equipped Z06's. Visit our website below to review engineering test reports of multiple configuration cars and environments.
Watch this video to get a walk-around overview of the Callaway SC757 featuring the GenThree Supercharger System w/ HD Cooling (Level 2) and other features of the 25th Anniversary Edition explained by Pete Callaway and tested at Willow Springs International Raceway during the grueling summer heat. In-car video and instrumented temperature data shown in a full 25-minute session at a recent Speed Ventures track day at "Big Willow". Callaway was there for engineering and customer support. Corvette's Performance Data Recorder (PDR) was also utilized to capture video and vehicle health data (shown at end of session during the cool-down lap).
Observe the trends of the engine coolant temp, oil temp, inlet air temp (IAT), manifold air temp (MAT) and transmission temp leaving the heat-soaked pits, and then stabilizing before consistent lapping. Note: MAT is a calculated value based on several temperature inputs to accurately predict charge air temperature as it exits the supercharger's intercoolers and enters the combustion chambers. IAT is measured at the mass air flow (MAF) sensor located just after the air filter. Ambient temperature as reported from the vehicle. Track temp measured in the pits at 148ºF.
It’s common knowledge that the C7 Corvette Z06 cooling system can be overtaxed during aggressive driving or on-track use. The result is power loss as the stock intercooler system isn’t capable of removing enough heat from the compressed inlet air. Plus, excessive oil temperature can have an adverse effect on engine oil lubrication properties, resulting in serious damage to engine components.
Callaway HD Cooling Systems were developed in a collaborative effort with sister company, Callaway Competition of Leingarten, Germany, and Entwicklungs Partner, Tikt Performance of Stephanskirchen, Germany. We turned to Callaway’s 25 years of motorsports success, combined with Tikt’s road car product development and advanced manufacturing capabilities, to support the introduction of a proper cooling system solution.
While HD Cooling Systems work best with the Callaway GenThree(™) supercharger system, they also perform well with otherwise stock Z06 Corvettes. Now you can focus on improving your lap times without fearing the uncontrolled rise of the temperature gauges and the dreaded “limp mode”. In fact, during testing, Callaway engineers reported a significant improvement in overall performance as power was not lost by running at higher temperatures for extended periods.
