Personally I have liked almost every movie Snyder has done on top of loving all the DC movies he has done. I really loved the universe he was building. It was the perfect contrast to Marvel without trying to copy Marvel. I really don't understand how people can watch the movies and say they suck cause they are actually really good. I was hyped for his justice league and with everything he describes sounds like Justice League could have been pretty amazing. They re-shot almost 60% of Justice League, so it would not have "been the same movie" if Snyder does have a version of Part 1 that he had almost finished. They had to cut out everything and re-edit things that made any reference to there being another movie like there was suppose to be. WB should not have fucked with perfection.

I liked BvS. I rewatched it and batman actually doenst kill as often and directly als people say. The dream sequence showed his fear. He doesnt want to kill but there are Situations where he would break. Like in the movie. The chase scene: He shot at the tires of the car. I just rewatched it and it's on the same Level as batman letting Talia crash and die at the end of the dark knight rises. The Grenade guy: He pulled a Grenade and pulled the Pin. If he threw that thing more than one Person would have died. So in my mind, batman saved most of the other goons. When He shot the Trucks at the end: First of all, they have 50cal's. What do you expect him to do? Use his anti machine gun spray..? He also shot at the floor first like 10-20 times. They had enough time to get out of there but they didnt AND he was pissed beyond limits in this scene. Im 100% fine with this batman killing.

The mainline Batman hasn't killed a single person since the 40s, before he even became the Batman he is today. It was actually required that they had to redo his entire origin so he never killed. Outside of that, the only time he's killed anyone is in edgy spin offs. Even in the games, he only beats the ever living shit out of people, not kill them. Nonsense needs to stop.

I think the better thing to say instead of Batman doesn’t kill, is Batman SHOULDN’T kill. What makes Batman special, what makes him different from other vigilante type heroes, is his morality. If Batman killed, he would become the bullet that shot his parents. He would become Joe Chill. Now does that really make sense? No, not really. But that’s the point. His greatest flaw, never killing those who deserve death, is also his greatest strength as a character. Take away Batman’s outer shell, and you’re left with a man, stuck in the alley of his parents death, who doesn’t want anyone to suffer like he has.

This is why the punisher is a better hero than Batman! The Punisher isn't looking to do good intentionally he's on a mission to kill rapists and murderers until he dies. It's both beautiful and sad because the punisher's entire existence is to fight until he dies. He'll never stop and think how many lives would have been saved if Punisher crushed Joker to death in the back of a garbage truck. If Punisher sliced open Riddler's intestines out! If Punisher blasted off Harley's Quinn's head! If the punisher scorched the entire Court of Owls with napalm and flamethrowers! How many lives would have been saved! All those people Batman murdered by letting the joker live! I think the Punisher would be sympathetic towards Mr. Freeze and Killer Croc. And he would team up with Red Hood because the punisher is not a cold hearted killer. He's not vengeance. He's punishment and he only kills those who truly deserve to die. The Punisher has literally nothing to lose. His entire family was gunned down by the Mafia. The Punisher is the hero Gotham deserves! Batman's no killing rule has increased crime in Gotham by 200%. The Punisher would decrease crime by 90%!

How you can fix /change lex without denying that the Jessie stuff: Flashpoint have it so Lex Sr never had a son and is younger, have him find out about the world flash comes from, have him slip out into a refreshed version of DCEU that the flash returns to where things happened “slightly different”(keep it nebulous for new creators to step in) and have him slowly try to snake his way into Lex Corp as this universe version of Lex Sr’s illegitimate son and have him kill jr.

To make that point you'll need to establish that batman used to firmly believe in not killing. Then you show an older batman who doesn't care anymore. So the audience know the man must have seen some shit. The struggle/consequence of crossing the line is also the interesting part of the comics when batman does kill. BVS has none of those. We just got a rich punisher.

I believe I could argue this both ways as Batman as a master martial artist/ human who has flaws or in elseworld issues where he could have let himself be the martyr to win in the end. As an expert tactician he could plan ahead (even after his death), or he could of make mistakes as a deadly combatant (while being human) and make a mistake as we all do,.

There was a lady on Kevin Smith's podcast that said the original version was different (had finished scenes and concept and previs scenes), which is what people call the Snyder cut. Then bvs came out was received negatively so ZS has to scrap his vision and try reworking everything. If this were to have happened then BvS would technically be a sequel.

Cool discussion! I personally am in the "Batman wouldn't AND doesn't kill" camp, because even if he REALISTICALLY is probably incidentally killing people when he maims them, the narrative is that he never kills, therefore we're supposed to suspend our disbelief and think that all his opponents survive (because comics, and because Batman). Like, it doesn't make any sense that they'd all live, but that's what we're supposed to believe, so that's what I assume is true. If Batman can breathe in space, he can stab them in the neck so precisely that they don't die. That's how I read it anyway. Also on the Dumbledore thing: from what I remember, JKR told everyone that Dumbledore was gay and in love with Grindelwald ages ago, I think shortly after the release of the last book in 2007. And I remember one of the directors of the HP movies saying that they had to cut a joke about Dumbledore dating a woman after she told them he was gay, and this was way before the book series had ended. So a lot of people think this is a retcon way after the fact, but it was always part of her plan. People weren't really that upset about it back when she initially revealed it, but now that diversity and LGBTQ issues are on people's minds, they're angry that she always had this major queer character and never had any intention of including that aspect of him in the books in the first place. I think maybe the reason it's coming up again on social media is because there's that new Grindelwald movie and supposedly them being in a relationship wasn't included in it (I didn't see it so idk). So that's what people have been mad about recently.

The problem I have with Batman killing is that it takes away from the impact when he was going to kill Superman. If Batman hadn’t killed anyone and Superman was the first person he would’ve killed it would’ve been more impactful. IMO he doesn’t understand the characters at all.

That convo at the beginning of the main topic reminds me of when my dad asks how someone died and I say "heart failure" every single time. On the topic of Batman killing, I can see him not wanting to, but after the 4th or 5th rampage of the Joker or some other maniac at that point he's just irresponsible. But at the same time if you kill the Joker you can't use the joker anymore. But you know comics and death means nothing.

Batman does kill indirectly but he is so brutal that if no ambulance comes to save a henchmen they'll probably die. . There's a comic where Batman drops in through the glass celling of a warehouse lands on a henchmen immediately bounces off to drop kick another off a balcony and while he does it says to himself "broken ribs, collapsed lung a few days in the ICU and he'll be fine".

My interpretation is Batman doesn’t like having to kill people, but he is willing to do so if he must. He’s less hesitant to kill non-human adversaries than human adversaries.

When you look at from a realistic point of view, of course, many of those that he's incapacitated in the pursuit of justice has suffered permanent impairment and/or eventual death due to the injuries inflicted by the bat-shit ninja. But hey, it's to be expected. He's never claimed to be a perfect super-man. He does what he can to prevent such outcomes, but in the end, he'll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. His lore is cold.
