What is NAR (New Apostolic Reformation)? According to Wikipedia, The New Apostolic Reformation is a movement of which is seeking to establish a fifth branch within Christendom, distinct from Catholicism, Protestantism, Oriental Orthodoxy, and Eastern Orthodoxy. The movement largely consists of churches nominally or formerly associated with Pentecostal denominations and Charismatic movements but has diverged from traditional Pentecostal and Charismatic theology. It advocates for the restoration of the lost offices of church governance, namely the offices of prophet and apostle. The New Apostolic Reformation is a phrase originally used by C. Peter Wagner to describe a movement within Pentecostal and charismatic churches. The title New Apostolic Reformation is descriptive of a theological movement and is not an organization and therefore does not have formal membership.

@@whoa_bro9971 there has been a hand full of times that part of a sermon has had that in it but it is always has a point into the sermon and not just a rant. I listen to Bethel's sermons weekly for years now and can't remember a time that they did what you're suggesting. The same with Todd White, I have even had the opportunity to talk to the man once and he was quite a genuine and humble person. You simply are the type of person that they are referring to, you make it a point to make them your "enemy" without any factuality to back it up dude. Mind you the first time I listened to either one of their sermons (Bethel and Todd) was to prove them a heretic many years ago but I actually listened to the entire message for the message sale and not my agenda.

Let's clear this up "NAR" is an acronym for all churches that hold to a 5-fold ministry. It has no leader, as it isn't official. Like "Reformed" or "Charismatic" or "Cessationist" or "Prosperity gospel". It is used by others to lump in practises and theology that others dislike, and like all of the terms above, there is a range of theological differences in the churches that could be portrayed as "NAR". Bethel is NAR. As is Vineyard and New Frontiers, and the New Wine grouping in the CofE. At least, that's how I see it, which is why NAR churches are like "What's NAR?"

What is particularly damning is the video footage of all the 'prophets' around Todd Bentley commissioning him. In essence doubling down after other Charismatic leaders called Bentley's methods into question. With Bill Johnson speaking about jealousy...somewhat implying that Bentley had a special gift and calling and the other leaders would be jealous (possibly because they weren't 'chosen' to be a super apostle). On top of that the lukewarm response to Bentley's indiscretions and then subsequent support of his ministry (with his new mistress wife). This shows a total lack of discernment and unquestioning adherence to their conviction that they had a special revelation about Bentley. The fact that these leaders couldn't see the situation for what it was and didn't change course after referring to scripture regarding false prophets exhibits one of the core tenets of NAR which is valuing personal revelation above the Word. Even in this video Kris Vallotton calls a difference of theology as people 'on their own journey' of faith in the Lord, this is used many times to avoid calling sin sin or speaking out strongly against something that is anti-biblical. 'Do I agree with the Catholic theology? No but the guy loved God'...isn't a love for God a love for truth? A manifestation of some physical sign is not a confirmation of spiritual alignment with the Word. In this example Vallotton appears to take tongues speaking on it's own as some type of confirmation with no other testing of the spirits. This is why there is a lack of discernment within the movement because of the focus on a feeling in the moment rather than an emphasis on confirmation from the Word.

I can pretty well guarantee that there is something you believe, somewhere, that is not 100% correct. I'm pretty sure that there is something, somewhere that I believe that is not 100% correct. I'm not saying you are less of a Christian because of it or that it represents sin in your life, or in mine for that matter. The Holy Spirit knows all of the things that are less than perfect in the life of each one of us, and He knows the order He wants to tackle them in. That order might be different for different people. Those are the different journeys that we are on. We're heading to the same destination from different starting points, so our individual paths look different from each other's. Let's not condemn each other over that. We grow in discernment as we train our senses through practice. My discernment is not yet perfect, and your discernment is not yet perfect. We are called to love each other and build each other up as we go. Not to condone sin, but to allow space for the Holy Spirit to work in each one of us individually as He wills and to participate in that as He leads each one of us.

I’ve experienced this for the last 5 years as a worship leader in a charismatic Pentecostal church who’s leadership swallowed the “Bethel pill” so to speak. They are VERY led by emotion and emotional “experiences” whether they are biblical or not.

@@copernicansun744 - "on a different journey" doesn't mean sin is okay. I don't condone sin and I don't recommend continuing to practice it. But the truth is that the one who is best able to take each one of us through that journey to complete sanctification is the Holy Spirit. He knows which issues are the most important ones to address first for each person, and that order differs from one person to the next based on our life history and where we specifically have been wounded. The Holy Spirit knows when Issue A for one person is going to be automatically dealt with when Issue B is addressed, whereas another person might have Issue A as a result of Issue C. Note also that nobody had to manage Ananias and Sapphira's sin - the Holy Spirit was the one who resolved that situation in the way that was the best for that community. We don't typically execute people the moment they are caught in a lie, but in that scenario God knew it was necessary.

The problem is your ideas about what authority modern apostles have and what their role is. You didnt explain accurately what the NAR actually is, there's more to it. The fact that you met with the pope and didn't rebuke him is why people have issues with you. The fact that the pope even holds that position SHOWS that he doesn't have a true relationship with Christ or love God. Jesus said "why do you call me Lord and do not do what I say?" And John writes that we know who loves God by who obeys His commandments, not by whether or not someone claims they had an "experience". Scripture is not open for interpretation, it means specific things, the Catholic church is the whore of Babylon described in Revelation and will play a large role in the rise and rule of the antichrist.

@@cklee_ Thats not my job to judge and rebuke unbelievers(as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12:12)- however it IS our job to judge those who claim to be in Christ, especially those in roles of leadership and teaching. Meeting with the Pope is a once in a lifetime thing, Id say thats the ONLY chance you'd ever get. Jesus Himself opposed those in high religious offices, who were teaching perversions. @Dean Agnor Kris went into a little more detail about the meeting though, it is obvious from what he said about it that he didn't rebuke him and doesn't appear to have an issue with his office. He went into how the pope must love Christ, so "who is he to say anything?" Why are you so bent on defending these people when they've created so much confusion and harm in the Body? I am not accusing them of anything false, they have failed every time to really address the problems all while dismissing them and talking out of both sides of their mouths. I respectfully submit this to you. But, as far as NAR is concerned, it encompasses the 7 mountain mandate! @Dean Agnor I never said that the cross abolished Jesus' ministry. Honestly, I don't even know why you would say that? The gospel is the person and work of Jesus Christ (and the cross is the epitome of this). This isn't my tradition, it's what scripture teaches. Paul said that if anyone preaches another gospel (you and Bethel), then you should be accursed (Gal 1:8). Paul even went further and said that he resolved to know NOTHING but Christ and Christ CRUCIFIED (1 Cor 2:2).

It's exposing false teaching and actually even heretical as in their teaching of kenosis that they're now trying to clean up... God is love no disputing that but Jesus said I am the Way the TRUTH and the Life and people need to know that the true Gospel of Jesus Christ is love
