DOES CO-WASHING REALLY WORK - Month Trial On Wavy Hair

So does co-washing really work?... Well I tried it for a month so you don't have to.
Welcome back or welcome to my channel, my name is Frankie, i'm a hairdresser and this video is all about co-washing.
Co-washing is when you skip the shampoo part of your hair wash and go straight in with conditioner. You'll need to massage your scalp for a while to lift all the dirt but other than that its a pretty stress free process... but the real question is did co-washing really work?
In this video i'll show you pics & tell you more about my experience with co-washing over a 4 week period.

Before you run and cut your hair because it’s “dry and frizzy” you may want to find out your porosity. If you have natural high porosity you will probably never completely get rid of the dryness and frizz! The best you can do is keep it as healthy as possible and find products that work for your hair.

After cowash you should apply a leave-in cream (could be also your conditioner) and stylize with gel, let it dry completely and then scrunch gently, it'll help a lot with the frizz. That's part of the curly girl method routine, maybe you're already aware of.

Thanks so much for the advice. I'm still testing out loads of different products and drying methods to try and get the best curl but to be honest I'm thinking I need a good haircut once the UK lockdown is lifted. I feel like my biggest problem is that my hair is too heavy at the moment and the old layers are causing a load of frizz. Thanks again for the advice 💕

Love your videos! If you do this routine to get a good curl pattern back, can you occasionally blow it out on a special occasion and not loose your curl pattern?

Hey Jenni, thanks so much. I'm so glad you love them 😊 You could definitely co-wash regularly and still interrupt that routine to wash & blow it for a special event. It might damage the curl pattern but it would only be temporarily. Hope that helps 💕

0:10 People should still try it out every body and hair type is different from different curl patterns to different porosity levels. So even if it didn’t work for you doesn’t mean it won’t work for the next person.

Hey, I'm currently reviewing products like shampoos and conditioners again so I'm not co-washing at the moment. I'm definitely going to go back to it once I've finished my affordable haircare series. When I was co-washing I completely skipped the shampoo part of hair washing. At first I started off co-washing twice a week and managed to get it down to once a week eventually. Hope that helps 💕

Yes that's right, co wash once a week. Some weeks I'd wet my hair in between washes to freshen up the curls 💕

Thanks for responding back! I know this may seem kinda gross but my scalp creates sebum, more than others, and idk if i have to get my scalp used to the process... or co washing isnt for me 🥵

Not gross at all babe! My scalp definitely felt more oily whilst co-washing. It's really important that you massage and scrub your scalp (all over) for a good 5 mins. Also you could do it every three days at first and then slowly push it back a day. Hope that helps ☺️
