Being a native of WV, and being an underground coal miner. When I first started working in the mines, it didn't take long at all to see for myself. That the coal seams I have worked in, hadn't been there for "millions of years". My family has a long line of miners, and all of us have found some incredible fossils and artifacts encased in coal. Things that should not have been there, based on the "billions of years" theory.

RAPID speciation is actually an important part of the biblical creation model (e.g. see creation.com/speciation-is-not-evolution and creation.com/speedy-species-surprise ). But speciation within a kind (e.g. 'family')-usually as a result of natural selection-is NOT evolution. (See creation.com/natural-selection-evolution ) SELECTING genetic traits is very different from CREATING brand new ones, and that is where evolution has huge problems. If you are referring to things adapting over time, such as dogs becoming other kinds of dogs, this is called speciation, which, yes, is verified by observational science; however, if you mean "chemical evolution" (*molecules to man) or if you mean, animals "evolving" into Humans over time; those ideas are simply not supported by observational science (* instead those ideas are modern mythology and philosophy tied to a kind of forensic science).

Carbon-14 in coal is produced by radioactive decay of uranium-thorium isotope series that is naturally found in rocks (and which is found in varying concentrations in different rocks, hence the variation in carbon-14 content in different coals). It does not cause a problem zeroing instruments 0 is 0 and coal is not used as a reference.

After some research it actually looks viable! It's funny that most science seems to believe carbon-14 cannot be created through alpha decay but I could see it, and I could even see their entire theory on how c-14 is created in the atmosphere being wrong. Alphas have the extra proton, which is ejected upon the creation of c-14. That said, in the same rabbit hole I found a lot of issues; mainly that if small environmental effects like that can contaminate the dating methods, none can be trusted. If radioactive material can be created through multiple different avenues, then it can also be degraded. Throw enough energy at the earth and you could rapidly create or degrade anything.

If you study the geology in the Gulf Of Mexico, of which I have had the opportunity to see firsthand, having worked very many drilling operations, and recorded the lithology, you would find that there is a massive alluvial bed of Shell Fragments, a couple 100 feet thick at about 1/4-1/2 mile beneath the sea bottom reaching out about 100+ miles into, and across the Gulf. Every coal sample contained carbon-14. They even contained approximately the same amount of carbon-14. There is no way to physically contaminate all the coal in the world with carbon-14. I believe the super high volcanic mountains we see today were created during the flood. Think about it logically. The 'fountains of the deep' opened up and massive volcanic activity was happening at the same time, the rapidly cooling lava would have stacked in one spot and made an underwater mound which, with continued volcanic activity would have made the mound 'snowball' and get bigger and bigger and form an underwater mountain which would have been exposed when the water receded, leaving a mountain. The slow collision of continents doesn't seem enough to create such high mountain ranges. Not to mention, most volcanic mountains, when erupting out of water do not get taller, maybe thicker and more rounded but not taller. They actually fragment and break apart and sometimes even explode like Mt. Saint Helens, leaving the remaining mountain much smaller. The only way such huge mountains could be formed quickly in my opinion, is to be from immense volcanic activity during a time of water covering the earth. I'm not a geologist or a vulcanologist so I cannot say it's a 100% certainty but it seems more consistent with the young earth/rapid formation timeline.

@@kevinrussell1144 That's the thing, I don't need an IF. I've got the details in the Bible. It explains everything. Even things that science can't explain yet. I KNOW it's true. Not because of any empirical evidence, but because the Lord has changed my life so drastically for the better and I see His works everyday, not just in my life but in those around me. More and more evidence of Biblical events is being found everyday and scientists still can't figure out how evolution could even start because the cell parts needed for division and eventual merging are not able to be made before the cell decays and dies. Life cannot come from non life and something cannot come from nothing, it's impossible and unobservable, therefore scientifically impossible to replicate or even observe. As far as geology, there is way more evidence for a young earth and a global flood than there is of anything else, even in core samples. Layers that science says were laid down over thousands of years have no sign of biological growth in between, which would have occurred between the layers if they were laid down over a long period. It's more likely that they were laid down quickly all at once which would explain the lack of biological material between the layers. There are many other examples of inconsistencies in scientific explanation, like how rock layers can be bent without breaking if they were laid down over long periods of time, more likely mud was laid down and bent while still soft, then turned into sedimentary stone after being bent. Anyways, I don't want to 'convince' you of anything, you have to come to faith on your own terms, if at all. I really pray that you do, it's so freeing and opens up a whole new world and takes the 'glasses' off and let's you see the world the way it truly is. Maybe check out the Institute For Creation Research channel and you will see many videos of geological, biological and even cosmic evidence that will change the way you see things for the better. @@kevinrussell1144 As far as something coming from nothing, I should have clarified. Life cannot come from non-life, a living cell cannot come from a non living primordial pool of goo or whatever else science tries to say happened in the beginning. Even scientists in a laboratory with expensive high tech equipment cannot make a living cell, complete with programming, from non living components. They can replicate cells using other cells that were already alive but they cannot replicate anything like they claim happened to start life. No matter how many non living items you put into an area, no matter how many lightning strikes, no matter the heat level, life cannot come from non life. Nothing ever observed has created life from non life. Nothing attempted has been able to produce results even close to what is needed for life to pop out of nowhere. Anyway, like I said, you probably don't want the truth or even watch these videos, just come to flaunt your expertise and argue with comments. This week I've had a discussion on a geology FB group I'm on regarding the Capital Reef National Park Cathedral Valley, in the US...rapid deposition of sediments. Had the usual keyboard warrior abuse and dismissal, but one guy calmed down so was able to rationally engage with him for couple of exchanges. It wasn't coal we were addressing, rather the beautiful layering evident in the 'cathedrals'. Interesting to hear you Tas, mention the possibility of continent/ocean reversal during the Flood. This makes more sense to me than catastrophic plate tectonics. The preflood continents scoured down, and all the material that made them up, being washed into the preflood ocean basins. The trajectory of water flow and sedimentation is downhill, so eroded material on continents went downhill out into the oceans where tens of thousands of metres of sediment built up before being uplifted to form present day continents.

I am a Christian so I am on your side and truly believe God created the universe and the earth. I am a physician and An amateur astronomer with an interest in physics. While I agree with your discussions on the formation of coal. Formation of carbon on the other hand is a different story. Carbon and more complex elements from what we know can only be formed by nuclear fusion in stars. So the coal that was on the earth must have come from a dead star. I do not know whether stars are young or old but I think they probably have to be older than 6000 years unless God had a different mechanism for their formation. If they are only thousands of years old then we should see them being formed fairly regularly throughout the universe and Galaxy. But we do not. I truly believe God created all this but I do not know how. However this should not be the hill you should die on in terms of believing in God and Jesus Christ. The most important thing to know is that he died for our sins and rose from the dead so we know that what he said was true

A casual google search for man-made items found in coal says a lot, I found one video of 20 items found in coal, and the coal was of course dated to many tens of millions of years old, with the items in the coal. but there are those so convinced that they will hatch all kinds of conspiracy theories to explain away such items, if you follow much of this at all the number of times they have to resort to made up stories about such things is amazing in and of itself, that does not mean what you think it means here let me explain what that really means, over and over and over ad nauseum, countless dragon legends around the world, just about every culture has a flood story, the Ica stones, Acámbaro figures, Indian pictographs, the evidence is there but people would rather cling to evolution and therefore explain away the evidence anyway they can or try to discredit the evidence anyway they can. Its just like Mary Schweitzer, 4:50 I had One reviewer tell me that he 4:52 didn't care what the data said he knew 4:55 that what I was Finding wasn't possible 4:57 says Schweitzer I wrote back and said 5:00 well what data would convince you and he 5:02 said 5:04 none This has nothing to do cold hard factual evidence, but a predisposition that they will not have anything that will point to a young earth and the Creator of it. "Sciences alternative to an Intelligent Creator: The Multiverse Theory," Discover Magazine December 2008. "If there is only one universe you might have to have a Fine-tuner, "If you don't want God, you'd better have a multiverse” And there it is in a nutshell, they do not want God, so any other explanation is preferable than to accept God. Any old story no matter how implausible or farfetched is better than The Biblical God for them.

People are so caught up in young/old earth that they are missing very important biblical lessons that are relevant in our lives. Whether it's young or old doesn't matter when it comes to learning about God and learning valuable lessons about our sinful nature and other human characteristics. The age of coal does not affect anything when it comes biblical inspiration and lessons. It's like this....In the movie Mr. Mom with Michael Keaton, he is trying to tell some co-workers a story to inspire them, but they are so caught up in the details that they destroy that actual lesson Keaton is trying to teach them.

This proves that some scientists are just jokers. To forget that it takes millions of years for the dead vegetation to reach those high temperatures, because that only happens in the deep layers of the earth and where the pressure is high enough. Coal found on the surface, is even older. The geological movement of the earth's layers due to tectonics pushes the aerth layers up. This is how mountains form and ancient layers are exposed
