I've noticed a big difference when it comes to interviews and pay range after getting my A+ even though I have a Canadian college in IT and 2 years of entry level IT experience. I'm getting calls every day after getting the certification. My resume is not being thrown away anymore

Thank you for making this video. I am new to IT. I am started to prepare for CompTIA A+ (Core 1). After I am done with Core one I will prepare for Core 2. My goal for this year is to get CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ and CCNA. I might also look into Linux+ later. Thank you for sharing your expereince. Keep making these videos. They motivate and help many of us who are just starting in IT.

Are you preparing your CompTIA certs under any organisation like The Training Room or all by yourself ?
@davei29383 жыл бұрын
As a technologist the only cert I would recommend is the sec+ if your job requires it. Comptia teaches you how to memorize questions and you might get a entry level job. I recommend people to get the ccna that will get you future jobs like network engineer and will get you a decent salary. No hate love that women are getting certs and hope more people do so.
@jamastechtalks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your insights, Dave! I partially agree with you. However, I must add that certifications provide a solid theoretical foundation for people with no previous experience in IT, neither professional nor academic (like myself, for example). For this reason, getting a cert is a good way of structural learning of the subject matter. Of course, further practical experience is required. But after all, we all mostly get certs to get a job in tech.
@strappedup243 жыл бұрын
I highly disagree with this statement. I think it honestly depends on the sector you're trying to get into. Security plus and Network Plus are two great certs to obtain and will help you excel in getting great jobs. You just have to keep grinding and applying for jobs
@feedyourspeakers3 жыл бұрын
I'm about to take the net+ to see where that takes me career wise. I have experience with networking on some level but when I review different practice questions and things , 1/2 i know and 1/2 i have never dealt with. I just want to get the net+ to see if that helps a bit with others like CCNA

Here in the U.S. it's called something like being "paper crazy/obsessed". The U.S. is the most "proof of knowledge/show me the paper" country out there. CompTIA A+, N+, S+ are considered to be foundational certifications that might get most people an entry-level position with basic pay. The other elements of job hunting - marketing, self-confidence, story-telling the application of your skills, and working the job applications - can get a person a higher-level, better paying position (with or without the foundational certs). Land an IT job and then, while you're making money and getting experience, study past the foundation certs and go for CCNA, Cloud, Database, Big Data certifications. Supplement with Linux and code-based certs. Any combo of those will provide a life-long career with great pay.

They pay insane amounts in south africa even just for comptia,in fact a+ and n+ is basically all you need to become top 16%richest earners here,all about location and experience comes with years worked👍

Definitely!

🤔 I'm not so sure about that. I live in South Africa as well, and I've not seen any job post that requires A+ or N+ offering an insane amount of money. Unless of course, one has 3+ years of experience in an IT role. I'm not doubting, I'm just saying I haven't seen one. I myself is preparing for the A+
@mrmoneyindabank3 жыл бұрын
Totally i get you,it does take a couple years to get the training wheels off,statistically earning above a threshold of R22k a month positions you as top 16% its all about the knowledge and a good amount of patience,you'll kill it man👍

Do you think I will be able to pass the CompTIA A+ if I study the CompTIA textbook + bundle pack + practice questions. Or do you think I would need to watch more videos online to pass the exam?

Hi Alan! Which textbook are you referring to? I personally never used bundle pack. I used exam cram book, Jason Dion course and Jason Dion practice tests.

Since I came from a none IT backgroud and have little knowledge in the field, What's your thoughts on having an internship to really get hands on before looking for an entry level job in IT field ?

Hi Tony! Thank you for your kind words. If I were you, I'd start looking for an entry-level job right away. However, it might depend on other factors, such as country you live in and etc. Good luck!

I got a job offer with CompTIA ITF+ (along with Google IT Pro and JAMF 100). So... yeah, I'm working for an IT firm (hardware/software manufacturer). ITF+ shouldn't be ignored. The IBM IT Support certficate will give you 30% off the cost of the exam.

In my experience, certifications are pretty useless. They only make your CV look “better”. But working experience trumps all.
@jamastechtalks Жыл бұрын
It’s true. But what should you do if you don’t have work experience in a particular field and yet want to work in that field? In cases like this, certifications do help.
