Does Cooper Kupp to the Vikings Make Sense? (SPOILER: Yes. If He's Cheap)

If the Rams decide to release him he would be a great addition on the cheap. He can play every WR position in this offense instantly. He's a mean blocker and does all the dirty work. He would help in the running game, WR screens, and he's awesome in the red zone.

My first thought would be using Cooper Kupp much like I had suggested for the Vikes if they had kept Adam Thielen around....the 2nd or 3rd WR for 3rd/4th-and-short, as well as in the Red Zone, close to the goal line. IMHO, Kupp is a good blocker, runs precise routes & is a sure-handed receiver...so he's the kind of receiver one needs in crowded traffic.

Vikings need to use the resources to acquire O line parts and a good Running Back. We have good receivers

If it was a choice between affording Kupp or a great stud for the iOL or a proven, younger CB, then - yes indeed - Kupp is not a high priority. However, IF Kwesi A-M can add Kupp while significantly upgrading the iOL & CB room, then I would be all for it. He'd be fantastic in the Red Zone & on 3rd or 4th-and-short.

We need corners especially if Aaron Jones retires and Byron Murphy leaves. Harrison Smith will probably retire. We have to shore up our defense. We already have 2 of the best wr in the league

It seems like every off-season starts with talking about fixing the offensive line, and then the team gets distracted by shiny things (like a star veteran WR), and by the time the season rolls around, we still don't have an offensive line. So I'm actually not sure they can walk and chew gum at the same time. If it was up to me, I would tell Kwesi, "You don't get to sign anyone else until you build us a line. Or two." Otherwise JJ will suffer the same middling fate as every other QB this last decade.

Good point. (BTW, given his proven skillset, size & competitive spirit, I could see replacing Addison with Kupp in goal line or 3rd/4th-and-short situations. So he'd be 2nd WR some of the time.

I do agree though we need to put everything into our offensive line really make that one of the best in the league and everything else will fall into place if we can keep our defense the same with another good corner and a monster safety if Harrison leaves we will be great

It might be a good idea as long as he doesn't have a Thielen ego. It might benefit Jettas and Sherfield to hear some of that veteran experience. Kupp always found a way to get open in 2021. Maybe they can pick up some of his tactics.

He’s a good player but I’d pass. He’s aging and may not be his former self. Plus we already have a solid 3 at WR plus TE. We need 100% focus this off-season on bringing top tier talent to the trenches and possibly going CB/RB in this draft

@@zay7443 FWIW, I think Nailor took some big steps forward this year, with just a couple of drops being a concern. I think there's a good chance that Nailor will continue to progress with having McCardell coaching him & JJ as a role model. Having said that, I will agree that Amari Cooper is a good 3rd down WR who, last time I watched him with the Browns, still had enough speed to be a threat when it's 3rd-and-ling. So, yes, he'd be a good option too, if his contract isn't too expensive.

Yes, and that's exactly the role I would have had for Thielen as he aged. However, Thielen still believes that he can be a #1/#2 receiver, and over the last 2 yrs, he did prove to some degree that he can be a #1/#2 WR.

Not sure how cheap he would be, but yeah if you can get him on a cheap one year deal, absolutely. Can you get him for like 1 year, 10M or something? Idk if Kwesi is gonna go higher than that for a WR3, but at that price it'd be such a good deal for a guy who's good for 700 yards, and a couple of 100+ yard games, but who gets dinged up and is kinda on the old side. He catches a lot of the stuff that Nailor drops I'd say.
