I'd love to see a wobbly disc become as popular as the glitch

When I started playing in 2004, there was a guy that I played with using the epic. He would tune it for different flight shapes. What was fun was when he tuned it backwards and ended up 250’ off line. I believe it came with instructions on tuning it for different shot shapes, and it was also advertised to get more forward push due to the odd balance created by the rim. It is interesting to see a newer version of it.

So using your method, the Epic should be a 23.5 speed? (16→31) Would anyone else like to see Simon, etc go full rip on an Epic?

I can't wait for this disc!!

There is one thing with Epic not mentioned here. You can tune its stability by bending it (wing down, wing up). So, if you have tailwind, you probably want wing down. If you bend the wing down and throw a backhand, you'll see what a tunnel throw exactly is, because the disc will create its own tunnel. It's weird and funny.

I for one love it when manufacturers come out with strange, gimmicky things. It’s all about experimentation. Experimentation equals progress in my opinion.

I used to throw Epics a lot. It's IMO too finicky with regards to the wind, so it's mostly a novelty shot nowadays. Still, mostly an overhead/thumber shooter. But! For those wacky upshot glides like Epic, a really understable light disc sort of works like it. My "replacement" for the Epic is a ~150 gram Blizzard Champ Boss.

You should do overstable drivers next, X/4/0/3-4. In my experience not all of them are as overstable as the numbers suggest and the flights vary a bit too, some have big skips and some just dig into the ground.

I'd love to see a video seeing if fission plastic really has less turn variance from headwind to tailwind than a single plastic disc because of the increased gyroscopic stability. I suppose you would need to find the same mould in the same weight with the same parting height to really test fairly. I don't know if there are any fission moulds that also come in single plastic.

Looks inconsistent, not sure who's gonna want that. Anyway, maybe do a video on what discs are good for tomahawks and thumbers. What goes far, what's better for a shorter chipshot over some bushes. I have a go-to, but sometimes I'm not sure if I should pick a disc that pans differently.

Hey thanks for the video! Since no one has mentioned it yet, I'll do my best to fill you in as a former epic thrower. The ideal epic throw flips over to the flight plate, glides up side down before finishing the barrel roll. Thrown hard enough, you can even get a double barrel roll. It's all about wind and "tuning." If the video you've snipped is the one I'm thinking of, maybe you already know this. Tuning an epic is difficult. Once you bend it, it wants to return to flat, so each throw is different. Thus the gimmick and reason why you don't see them often, inconsistent and unpredictable. I'd be interested to see another video where you try to tune the ETII. Taco the disc for more flip, opposite taco for more glide? Excited to get my hands on one.

My buddy (no backhand) has been thumbin the epic for 20 years now. He can get around 500' into a slight headwind.
@mandobrownie5 ай бұрын
Besides people who like the asymmetrical feel for forehands and backhands, I thought the purpose of Epic-like discs was to get thumber and tomahawk flights you can't get with a symmetrical disc. If the ET2 flies like symmetrical discs on thumbers and tomahawks, then I'm not sure it's functionally different than a symmetrical discs. Maybe it has a different grenade flight? Maybe it's roller flight might be different? Hard to think of other ways it can provide something over and above symmetrical discs.

Very interesting looking disc. Very niche.
@SixSidedDiscs5 ай бұрын
Yea I'm curious if people will find it useful, I can see how it might be appealing if you want to be able to adjust the feel of a disc from forehand to backhand, like I like 11 speed or lower backhand discs, but I can forehand up to 13, so maybe this disc works for both? Idk, looking forward to feedback once people try it.

On the surface, without me actually trying it, it reminds me of when Shimano came out with "Biopace" chainrings trying to even out your fluctuating leg power to the rear wheel. They were even standard on some Nishiki bikes for a while but people vote with their dollars. Time will tell but my experience is that it's likely gimmicky and will not last and in another 15-20 years some other company will try it again only to fail.

Is it multi-speed or multi-glide? The amount of wobble seems to vary on different throws, and the amount of wobble may affect the potential glide. Thoughts?

I rotate my discs around my hand on the pad until I have a comfortable (no notches) hold in my throwing arm and no notches on my steadying touch with the other hand... Fine when you have the same grip 360deg round the disc.. with 'most' of my discs it's easy to get at least 2 smooth points of touch... With this disc.. there's only going to be 2 places that will feel comfortable to grip (with the right width... and the chances those spots are undamaged are... well... I throw plastic at trees... so the smooth sections are reducing with every game. I guess I would b ok as long as I got the expensive plastic version... (like most of my discs now anyway.. other than a soft Cosmic Proxy...

does it roll?
@SixSidedDiscs5 ай бұрын
Maybe with enough power it could roll, or if it were beat-in enough, but I don’t know how that extra weight on one side would help it roll. It might bounce quite a lot lol

I love Trash Panda, but... from a physics/aerodynamics point of view this thing is actual trash. It will wobble and lose distance, and the top of the dome will not be the center of the wing. The lift is changing as the disc rotates. This is just a start. It's on par with with Gateway baskets sadly...
@InbredJed820605 ай бұрын
Not gonna lie. I'm a trash panda fan but this disc seems like a fail. The wobbles decreases it's distance. It's inconsistent from what I seen in 3 reviews now.

Not impressed by it honestly flight based on where you grip? Basically no. Assuming you're a robot the flight will only vary by at most one revolution of the disc and at 1000+ rpm. That's what about 1/20th of a second. I doubt even the pros could reliably use hand position on the disc to hit a given and slightly different line. I see it as an "interesting idea" but I can't even say why it's being done. The only thing that comes to mind is marketing gimmick. Sounds harsh but pretty true imo. Like it's one thing for a video to do a gimmick to get views, but a company selling a gimmick feels pretty different to me. Mostly since watching videos is, free unless you want to pay for them. If I could throw this new disc as much as I wanted to, and then if I like it pay the company that would be better and "scare me a lot less about gimmick marketing". But largely gimmicks seem to be about implying one thing about the product and getting another. But you can't really use any disc till you know if you like it at "any store" so why is this different than just getting a new "excuse" to market a disc ... Frankly I don't know much. It just feels a bit different. I just personally kinda hope gimmick discs don't sell in general. But if a disc offers a nice useful ( or fun) flight then idk I think I can more seriously recommend such a disc. Basically I feel like some how it's promising people it isn't delivering, and as far as I can tell, that feeling is objectively wrong. Either way I wasn't in the market for something like this and likely won't be getting one.
