Does everything happen for a reason?

I truly disagree with "Everything happens for a reason, " although I used to strongly advocate it. Listen to why I feel this new way

I agree with the part when you said that "everything happens for a reason" as a form of escape. But at the same time, there are things in the past that will make me question why it happened at the time (aka getting injured, failing classes, death of a loved one etc. but looking back at it now, it forged me into who I am. So I guess now the phrase just means differently for me instead of an escape, it's a way for me to grow and be better. And it's up to me how I want this situation to shape me. Which kinda means, everything happens for a reason, so I can be _____".

Yes! I completely agree with what you mean. My perspective on it was to not let myself justify trauma experienced in my life, more of a coping thing lol. But on the opposite of that, it has forged me to become the man I am today, I think it happened for a reason looking back at it now but I also think there are a multitude of circumstances that just happen, like the saying “wrong place wrong time” type of thing. I totallyyy agree with what you have to say though, much love i appreciate your response
