Processed cheese product can be made at home with 3 ingredients, all of which are already in your pantry or fridge. Just combine cheese, milk, and sodium citrate (made by combining lime juice and baking soda) and melt it together and then let it cool and solidy. The stuff in the grocery store also has added preservatives just like 90% of everything you buy in the store. This stuff is nothing to be afraid of. It legally cant be called cheese because it contains ingredients other than cheese. You can make it exactly as i described with just the 3 ingredients and the FDA would still prohibit you from selling it as cheese. Spread the word, stop lying to your fans. Stop fearmongering.

He wanted a grilled cheese sandwich and wouldn't eat anything else when I told him that I didn't have any cheese. He rode to the closet store, Walmart, and picked some up. As he was making his sandwich he mentioned that the cheese wasn't melting. I had to see this for myself. Sore enough, it stayed just as firm as ever. He hadn't bothered to read the package because it looked exactly like one that he was used to eating since childhood. When he realized that it was a VERY different product, and read the label, we couldn't believe that the FDA would approve such garbage. Turns out, that's nothing new. Check the youtube video on how it's made, memory says it's 50% milk fat and loads of emulsifiers and stabilisers. This "Plastic cheese" was designed to melt "perfectly" on burgers (for fast food I believe). The goal was for it to 'melt' to divert the burger without splitting it falling off. So this food product was creating to look pretty and be used to quickly, not too be be healthy or tasty.... But to look like cheese while covering a burger.
@easygoing63973 ай бұрын
And not wholesome either.
@xyex3 ай бұрын
There are 3 types of cheese defined by the US FDA. 1. Cheese. This is your traditional cheddar, mozzarella, colby, etc. 2. Processed cheese. This is cheese that is made with at least 51% traditional cheese, with other things mixed in. Technically speaking, pepper jack cheese, even if the only thing added to the Monterrey jack is jalapenos, is a processed cheese because of the jalapenos mixed into it. Because it's not 100% traditional cheese. You can literally make this cheese in your own home with a block of cheddar, some milk, lemon juice, and baking soda. 3. Imitation/processed cheese food/product. This is cheese that is less than 51% traditional cheese. It is, otherwise, the same as type 2. It just has less cheese in the mix. You can also make this at home with just two ingredients. Milk and cheese. You melt equal parts cheese into milk to make a cheese sauce and, because it's 50/50, it's imitation/processed cheese food/product, and not cheese.

Wait until Americans realize …. “You think that’s chocolate you’re eating?” Chocolate melts! American chocolate sits on a shelf for not hours not days not weeks MONTHS! AND NEVER MELTS!!!!! Authentic chocolate melts when you touch it.
@khasualentertainment6734Ай бұрын
It melts
@Fluent-in-FuþarkАй бұрын
It does not! I’ve had American chocolate from several different places. American chocolate is more of a “flavour” rather than a food. Same with American vanilla. You can buy an American “vanilla” ice cream with zero vanilla in it. American cereal is banned in Canada. A lot of American food is banned in Europe. An experiment you can try is boil yourself some milk and place the piece of chocolate in the hot milk. It “should” make hot cocoa. If it’s authentic chocolate it will melt into hot cocoa. Chocolate melts like a thick liquid. American chocolate smears like animal fat.

American cheese is made with cheddar and sodium citrate. The nitrate causes it to melt but remain smooth. It's basically an emulsifier that prevents the cheese from breaking. It doesn't make it bad or unhealthy or inorganic, I'm sure.

@@DeepDownInTheOceanso what preservatives do they add to make it unhealthy?

@@5cottjohnson Companies add preservatives like sodium phosphate, sorbic acid, and emulsifiers to American cheese, which can contribute to high sodium levels and potential health risks when consumed in excess. all "cheese food" means is that it just has higher milk content. it's basically a legal term. aside from a particular salt, it has the same ingredients, just in different amounts. anyone who has ever had a burger or grilled cheese sandwich knows it melts just fine. please don't try to make it sound like it's artificial in some way.
@ShawnteAmoure2 ай бұрын
It is legally called CHEESE FOOD becaus it is NOT cheese and cant LEGALLY be called CHEESE! It is artificial and like she said IS NOT made equal. Most importantly it is NOT nutritionally equal. There is a distinct difference in taste. And as shown it doesn't melt. There is absolutely nothing wrong with knowing and acknowledging the difference. No one is telling you that you can't or shouldn't eat it. That's totally up to you. But there is definitely a difference in quality.
@ShawnteAmoure2 ай бұрын
Also, the higher milk content is a lie. The difference is cheese products and cheese foods have ingredients OTHER THAN milk like vegetable oils and emulsifying agents that are not in real cheese. So CHEESE would actually have the higher milk content because it's just milk, a little salt and rennet.

Tillamook stole the Bandon Cheese recipe in a hostile take-over of the cheese factory in Bandon OR. They promised the workers they'd still have jobs. Instead they razed the factory to the bare ground and claimed the Bandon Cheese as their own. I won't buy anything from Tillamook unless it's at a deep cut discount, reducing their profit margin. Bandon has since built a new cheese facility called Face Rock. It's wonderful. My favorite is the Vampire Slayer Cheddar that's infused with garlic.
