Feuerschwanz (foy-air-shvantz) translates to Fire Tail (with the 100% intentional double meaning/ slang translation Fire Dick) was founded in 2004 as a parody band, to counterpart the (sometimes overly) serious German medieval folk scene. Over the years, they left the straight parody behind while keeping a mostly humorous or at least light hearted attempt. In terms of music genre, they went from medieval folk into medival rock and have now evolved into medieval metal. Their original material is usually in German but in 2020 they started doing covers in English too. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary they have released their first ever album fully in English as a "thank you" to their non-German speaking fans. It contains one newly written song (The Unholy Grail, which was teased at the end of the video), one new cover (Valhalla Calling) and ten of their previous songs translated into English. Some of their covers (including their own translated ones): I See Fire (Ed Sheeran), original was the end credits song of the second The Hobbit movie. Warriors Of The World United feat. Thomas Winkler (ex-Gloryhammer), Saltatio Mortis (medieval rock band, represented by vocalist Alea) & Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum), original by Manowar. Dragostea Din Tei (aka the Numa Numa song) original the infamous summer dance hit by the Moldovan boy group O-Zone. Blinding Lights (The Weeknd). Gimme Gimme Gimme (ABBA) The Final Countdown (Europe) lyric video only. Wardwarf (in typical Feuerschwanz mindset, written in one word instead of War Dwarf) feat. Roberto Cavalieri (from the og dwarf metal band Wind Rose) is the re-recorded version of their original "Kampfzwerg" (literally Battle Dwarf/ Fight Dwarf). Hauptmann (Captain) Feuerschwanz, the guy in chainmail, is the last remaining founding member. Prinz Richard 'Hodi' Hodenherz III (Prince Richard Testicleheart III), the long haird singer is a multi instrumentalist, playing all kinds of pipes and flutes as well as accoustic guitars like the Irish Bouzouki. Johanna von der Vögelweide (Joan of Birdswillow [Joan of Screwmeadow]) plays not only the violin but also hurdy gurdy. Hans der Aufrechte (Hans the Upright) plays electric and accoustic guitar, he led them discreet but continuously into metal. Jarne Hodinson (George Testison) plays the bass guitar. Rollo Schönhaar (Wolf Prettyhair) is the newest member, as their drummer of 16 years, Sir Lanzeflott (Sir Lancequick) had left mid 2021. Mieze Musch-Musch (Kitty Puss-Puss) & Mieze Myu (Kitty Myow) are dancers, stage & video performers. For the video to "Highlander" (another of the translated songs, inspired by the 1986 movie of the same title) they took lessons from a stunt coordinator & close combat instructor specialized in sword fighting. Myu was guest musician with her harp on a few of their songs, credited under her real name Jenny. Which was quite a novelty as there is an unspoken rule in regards to Feuerschwanz: we do not refer to people with their real names (although those are common knowledge).

Band was excellent. Vibes of war and pillage. Different from the other versions I've heard - I like this. Thank you.

German "eu" is pronounced like "oy" as in "boy". So read it as Foyerschwanz. And yes, check out more of them. It's a deep, deep rabbithole.

Skipping over the strange video I liked this metal version and the reaction from all of you

Seeing your reactions to the solo and break down is the exact reason I shared this. I know you guys love great musicality and since you'd heard the lyrics a million times it wasn't really for that. As jerzey said (my god I can't believe I'm saying something nice about him), it was different. It was more of an 80's feel vs the harder metal that others have done.

In defense of "he could have run into a roman". The Byzantine empire which was the successor state of the Eastern Roman empire lived on well past the viking age. The Vikings actually made up a noteworthy mercenary force and even protected their Emperor they were well respected enough as warriors. All that said I am not an expert on the arms and armor of the 700-1100 Byzantine Empire but who knows if someone ran into a heirloom if not something still in comon use.

Way, WAY to many pauses. Great to pause occasionally for a comment in a reaction, but this was just too much.
