The problem I see when she is compared to the other archons is that they are compared to all the other units of their elemental types. But Venti was released in 1.0, he had no competition, Zhongli and Raiden were archons of already weak elements with few good units, and Nahida was one of the first Dendro units. Furina on the other hand is the archon of Hydro, arguably the best element in Genshin, with some of the best units to date. She can't possibly beat every single one of them without powercreeping the entire game.

The Hydro lineup is crazy so many strong characters: Ayato, Kokomi, Neuv, Childe, Nilou, Yelan, XQ. Hydro Archon is almost certainly going to be at least super strong because otherwise she will never get played.

The reality also is that a lot of people just don't like Xingqiu and wish they could get rid of him, but Mihoyo is never going to release a character that powercreeps him because they generally try to avoid that. So people keep expecting every new big hydro character to be able to replace him and then get mad when they don't. It happened with Yelan - people saw '5* Xingqiu', they got super hyped, and then she was balanced in such a way to avoid powercreeping Xingqiu, and people called her trash for a bit. The same thing's happening here.

I mean, about the electro, it was never a bad element and it had it's own share of very good units like Beidou or Fischl. In case of Venti, he was and still really strong in specific situations and compered to Sucrose he was and still a worse unit IF this specific situation doesn't present itself. In case of Zhongli and Geo... yes, the Geo as an element is terrible and Zhongli is the most flexible niche unit in the game but he never was really good the begin with. We don't have really a lot of charatcer who became amazing or terrible later in the game, examples like Kuki, Kequing or Thoma.

Most likely Nathaln units will have some gimmick like ousia/pneuma and hp drain/gain. I can see something like the more you hit enemies and they hit you, you gain rage that increases AT. All the archons are kinda mix of support/buffer/dps chars so the new pyro archon will be Benet + XL in 1 unit but no heals :)

After Nahida I think everyone expected the Hydro Archon to also be the best Hydro character for most situations. Furina will still be a strong character, but unlike Nahida there's plenty of insanely good Hydro units that would make it impossible to fill all the shoes of.

Well, she's not there to compete with dps. Archons are mostly there for off field support. Nahida's dendro damage ain't the best either considering there's Alhaitham or even Tighnari but her EM buff and Dendro application is the best. Furina should be a perfect pair w/ Neuvillette

@@kaikaikai4477 She does stand out though. SHe gives a teamwide buff, something which no other hydro has been able to do. Plus AoE hydro application that isn't tied to NA. The crab has 3.5m AoE, the octopus with a 2.5m AoE, and seahorse with little AoE of 0.5m. Furina doesn't apply more hydro than Xingqiu and Yelan in ST, but she will be able to fit the shoes for a Nilou bloom with dps, Diluc, and archon hyperbloom teams.

Honestly, my only problem is how difficult it is for a lot of her potential teams to utilize her burst buff to it's fullest. (My current understanding is that 1 stack = 1% HP change). While she herself does have healing and HP drain built into her kit, the long duration of the skill has to be accounted for as I don't believe (this could be wrong) she will be able to build that many stacks herself, relying on another character (strong healer/character with rapid changing HP) to make use of the high stack buff. 99% team damage bonus is amazing, but if the average team is going to get 30-45% it's not as amazing as people make it out to be (still good). Everything else about her is pretty damn good tbh. I did note that the wording for her skill stack buff (the draining team HP one) indicates that it's potentially an external multiplier in damage. "110/120/130/140% of original damage".

You're exactly right. Most were waiting for the hydro archon to be a general upgrade for their teams, but Mihoyo expertly limited her flexibility in older teams...unless you go for c2.

I think the main issue is also that the buff has a slow start. If you use her burst then skill you have 0 stacks, assuming you were already at 50% from the last rotation and then use a healer you'll have a few stacks into your DPS dmg window, and if they are from Fontine they will get a bit more, but is all that hassle really worth it compared to just running XQ/Yelan or even TTDS TotM Kokomi (for atk scalers)? The first rotation will just be bad, I guess you won't heal during it (good luck if we have aggressive enemies) and just run it without much bonus, or even save her burst for the next rotation? IDK there are a ton of moving parts in her kit and we are still early in Beta. I like her design and water walking enough to get her for over-world regardless (plus I want Charlotte who should be on her banner too) so I'll try for one 50/50 at least. I'll wait for TC on her team options when she is actually out with her final kit.

Thanks for this follow-up video! I think it added valuable information, especially the amounts of ER she would need for different team makeups. I’m looking forward to the video where you talk about her weapons. I am torn on whether to pull for her signature weapon or not. I plan to get her at C0. Given how much ER she will need in most teams, I just don’t see how it is possible to utilize her signature weapon well. As an off-field unit, it sounds like she will almost certainly need an ER weapon. While I luckily do have Festering Desire, I only have it at C3 because I missed part of the event. I know a lot of players don’t have it at all. If it ends up being that Furina’s signature weapon is really just for a C2 on-field Furina, then I suppose I’ll have to skip it.

I'm so used to farm ER that this is nothing new to me. My Bennett has over 300% ER (when used as the only pyro in the team) and even my Kazuha has over 200% ER. If you want perfectly smooth rotations then you need the perfect amount of ER on each character. I already have a couple of nice pieces of Furina's artifact set and I'll continue farming for her for at least 2-3 months until I get her best possible pieces.

I do hope they somewhat decrease her ER needs. At least to the point where an ER sands is sufficient for solo hydro. The fact that I may need to run an ER weapon or prioritize a lot of subs for ER stats is a bit disappointing. I get your point near the end and I agree, but a personal opinion of mine is that it’s still a bit overtuned on Hoyoverse’s end. We’ll see what happens in beta I guess.

Yelans only synergy is her A4 and providing double hydro. Each time Neuv does his CA, he essentially gives 100 stacks to Furina. At the end of rotations you're at a minimum of 66% common damage buff. However given Furina's own HP drain and although that's not too important for Neuv as he's already fluctuating between 100-50%, you can pretty easily max out her buff while doing significant damage, and then you can just swap forms and heal up if needed. There should prob be a vid though, as they're tailor made for each other.

I really like that Genshin tries to be balanced, but my problem with it is that a lot of that balancing is just making energy requirements really intense, which leads to us players slapping Favonius everywhere. It is boring balancing it that way, and leads to a lot of weapons just being useless.

Thoma for example has an 80 cost for a burst that has mediocre pyro application and makes his shield 100% but only when the active characters use normal attacks, theres also sara, whose burst is only her same skill buff but with less steps and some damage. Honestly I'm not a fan of her hydro application. Currently 0.7~0.8U/s on average, you showed an infographic with Hu Tao VV Vape at 2:01, but she wouldn't work there... she is just dysfunctional in vape without another hydro applier (Kazuha's burst might help a lot, but its uptime would end a bit after the setup, maybe around the 2-3rd N2C). Avg application aside, her app seems to be a lot inconsistent too because of the animals' AI, so for that and other reasons a 2nd hydro seems mostly mandatory in the current meta. Honestly I think she would be much better with no ICD on the octopus, that's all I ask: that would be enough hydro to make her application a bit more consistent and viable as the solo hydro in pre-Fontaine teams. She still wouldn't powercreep XQ/Yelan because they would have better application and/or comfort or easier access to a strong and reliable dmg bonus for your carry without making your team half dead, I would even be fine with less personal damage outside of Fontaine shenanigans to compensate for it if that's too much, but I think she should at the very least be functional and consistent as solo hydro in teams like vape, her being potentially relevant only as a C6 Faruzan for Fontaine characters honestly doesn't excite me, she should be more flexible. I thinks her healing is being overrated. You have to manually activate her healing which sacrifices her damage and messes up your rotation. As long as you are on attack mode, she will keep on draining your team HP till 50% and you will not get any heals. If you go to healing mode you sacrifice your hydro app and damage. In a 20 secs rotation , you generally do not have enough time to switch to her healer mode. Her passive heals isn't really efficient too if you do not have another healer. She will drain your Hp as well as the fontaine characters so you'll never really be able over-heal and activate her passive. I don't know, I'm just speculating. Can anyone confirm this? Like what's her rotation going to be like? IDK how her switching mode be applied in a rotation. I guess her active healing is useful during idles. But in a rotation, I don't know how that can be applied. especially with selfish dps like Yoimiya, Cyno, etc who don't want to get interrupted during their field time just to switch to her healing mode.

Nahida solved all dendro team problems, the same as Raiden with energy required characters. ER is a good stat in terms of damage only on raiden, on every other character you better prefer more damage. The ER set exists to give ER stat a value of damage, because characters that needed around 200% ER suffer a lot before the set they could ult but lose a lot of damage because of the ammount of ER invested. Beidou is the best example, she became a lot better.

It's already hard to max out the the burst stacks There was no need for this high ER requirements To Increasing her stacks to full she will have to be in some specific teams and then on top of that for her ER the good teams for her become even more low So overall her teams choices become very few/low

we just got more footage on how her pets hits, i tried using lilbro and her damage seems to be very similar with my Yelan even with ER Sands+Fleuve (262%) in 20 sec rotation, i think it's worth to use ER sands so i agree with you that this is one way of hoyo attempt to balance her. good and well researched vid as always, looking forward for more furina tc from you.

I feel like they cover 2 different playstyles quite well. Furina has thr ability to sustain the team herself, and she can buff more than yelan. But the way furinas pet turrets do the attacking for you, you don't need to do any NAs like yelan, and her uptime at 150%. Also golden troupe. She's kinda like yae mikos situation, where you really want to focus on her e skill but her burst is also too good to give up. However, I think her burst is overrated in a a sense where it's not the main focus of her kit.

I kinda agree. You can use burst when it's absolutely necessary. It still wouldn't cripple her main ability to sub-dps when she can't burst. Nahida's burst buff is good but I seldom use it anymore in the abyss. I'd rather spent the next seconds to do reaction than get that buff especially in hyperbloom since the Driver wouldn't really get that much from her buff anyways. Idk if that's a different case for Furina since it is a significant buff.

It's a really good ability I mean 250EM for free?? It might be good for wanderer, hu tao, wriothesley who could use their burst at the end of the rotation but for someone like Raiden, Alhaitham, Ayaka who needs an immediate buff, it’s fairly unnecessary since the important instant of damage they needed gets the lowest amount of buff since the stack build up of Furina’s burst is quite inconvenient.

At that point it’s basically a taser team with a hyperbloom every couple seconds. It would be better to just replace Kazuha with Nahida since her buffs are more useful to a hyperbloom team and she would actually make that team a hyperbloom/quickbloom team.

I feel like giving Furina ER sands, Fav Sword and giving HP Goblet and Circlet would be good option. Since she receives so much Damage percentage from her Burst and possibly Golden Troupe if you use it. Using another Hydro character with her alleviate some problem. I would also recommend using as much Fav weapons in her team since her Burst is such an essential part of Team Buff. Hopefully she doesn't have too much energy issues 😢

I made it but probably theorycrafters will perfect it Or you can also just avoid doing those 7 hits and the rotation will be much faster The problem is her burst only lasts 18 seconds, and those 7 hits take AT LEAST 15-20% of it It depends on how strong those 7 hits will be But if not too strong shorter rotations means next rotation starts early and recovers back the damage from the missed 7 hits in terms of time.

Thats what I was thinking. I think furina literally had more energy particle regen and lower energy cost than yae so at first I'm thinking that people are trying to find something wrong with her because you could probably get away with 180% er max just fine with a 70 energy burst cost. Especially with a weapon like festering desire which fits her kit so well. Her uptime is 100% for her ult and 150% for her skill so idk, I think people are exaggerating because I honestly think she will fit nicely in the SS tier alongside all the other SS five stars (nahida, raiden, yelan, kazuha and herself). That's like worrying a lot about ER on a chatacter like kazuha who's main focus is his e skill, like furina. Honestly I see a lot more pros than cons to furinas turret like kit, the pets follow her, last 30 seconds which minimizes her time on file for other characters, and her damage is said to be as good as yelans. I'm not going to go past 160% er probably

Her burst does little buff to non-Fontanian / no AoE healer teams that building ER for it while sacrificing her damage seems to not be worth it. Yelans q = furinas e, furinas e has 150% uptime and kinda follows the active character, has AOE etc. Yelans only single target. Furinas ER requirements are well compensated for with golden troupe anyways. Honestly yelan and furinas kits are similar but at the same time very different. The thing about furina IS that she can solo sustain a team because a lot of times you don't always have to attack while in battle because of down times. Also with yelan you have to NA to use her ult while furina they do it for you like us miko, but furina takes up way less time with her e skill.

Like is it possible to just let the summons take hp in their first hits and have the full duration of the stack? Or do they need to keep draining continuously to maintain the stack? In Neuvillette's case, you just need to cause 3 different hydro reactions once and the stacks will have a 30 seconds duration each.

So from the look of it, realistically, pre-C4 Furina will only be able to use her signature sword if she's played with a hydro powerplant like Sacsword XQ, 2E Yelan or 2E Neuvillette? Her ER requirements are higher than Yelan and unlike her, she doesn't have the benefit of a C1 (or situational rotations) that let her double her energy generation. Sounds like a Freedom Sworn or Aqua Simulacra situation, Best in slot but terms and conditions may apply. Maybe opting to play with 0 ER and bursting every other rotation (or every 3rd) might be worth it with the sword and great artifacts.

I think she may end up as a Jack of all trades, master of none kind of character. She applies hydro without attacking yes, but not as much as XQ or Yelan would apply and not as consistantly it seems. She heals a bit, but not that much and single target and she cant apply hydro while healing. She boosts dmg, but it has a ramp up time and needs a lot of ER, which takes away from her skill dmg. She wants to be run with a teamwide healer also, because she drains the entire parties HP with her skill. About 33-37% during her rotation depending on the calculations i have seen, and that is teamwide, per rotation. I think she will still be a good unit, maybe just not that busted compared to other hydro characters, but still good. Though it would not be the first time we see someone being underestimated in beta compared to live play, or a unit getting better over time with more characters releasing. I am getting her c2 anyhow if she ends up fun to play.

Great vid, I've been playing XL since I got kazuha back when he released so I'm used to high er reqs lol. I do have some thoughts unrelated that I hope you can address in a later video perhaps though! I'm going for c2, based on the na spam I saw on the leaks subreddit it seems like she can get her 7 procs in roughly 4.5-5s with a rotation of CA (Pnuema) E Q N4 N2C. With these lower field time requirements, about 7-9s, you're likely to get at least 1 particle reducing her ER needs. Additionally with this would golden troupe be her BiS? The 15s of off-field procs make it feel like it wouldn't be a terrible idea in some teams. In my mind her best team is Furina - XQ - Yelan - Kazuha for a hyper where MH would be best playing her as the on-fielder.

Have you considered perhaps HMC as a battery? I know its kinda wack, but HMC is pretty applicable for a battery. I literally have mine built as one with super low crit investment on Fav and its thanks to Marechaussee Hunter set. With a minimum of 31 crit rate from circlet, HMC with a held skill can end up with 67 crit rate which is more than enough given the amout of times it hits. With his own energy particles and fav, HMC generates 9.33 particles in total, 3.33 hydro elemental particles, and 6 elementless particles. I run an ER sands on HMC so he can burst every rotation for those short lasting AoE hydro, which should assist with Furina's own hydro app. Otherwise, Fleuvre Cendre Ferryman looks to be of higher value than Festering Desire then. I also think Fischl would be of huge help with her own elemental particle generation.

I don't understand the concern about energy on her. Her elemental still(at C0) looks like one of the strongest skills in the game. There are already many great characters that don't care about their burst at all; using her burst every other rotation will hardly effect her damage at C0. The fact that she isn't on field to collect the particles she creates can also be seen as a good since since she can battery units with better burst. Now with constellations things get interesting. Most of her constellations buff her burst including one that directly gives her energy. Her energy problems are an issue for whales who get her much more powerful burst and it is fixed by whaling harder.

The problem for Furina compared to Yelan is that the Emblem set only benefits the Burst DMG with the ER. But Furina's main dmg comes from her Skill instead. So that amount of ER wouldn't be converted into DMG, if you use sets other than Emblem set.

I don’t think this is a problem, it's just a way of designing her kit. Her not being able to use emblem was likely factored into designing golden troupe, and its probably why it gives so much dmg (70%), to make up for the high ER reqs. You compare yelan+furina with their respective sets and you see they’re getting about the same value out of them (20% ER+50% dmg vs 70% dmg)

I use mostly Childe International (with Kazuha C2), Ayaka Freeze and mono Cryo (and I’m saving Primogems for Shenhe C6), Wanderer C1 hypercarry (with Faruzan C6), Hu Tao C1 double Hydro (Yelan and Xingqiu).

Which Hydro unit you run on Ayaka Freeze team? Kokomi? You can bench her and add a cryo healer instead, or put Furina alongside her since Furina seems to synergize with Kokomi given Furina gives incoming healing bonus and can "overflow" healing with her E and passive, and both of them benefit from hydro resonance. Do you use Mona instead? Once again, you can bench Mona, or run her alongside Mona. Furina's E drains HP from all characters, including non-Fontaine ones, so she can build her stacks without any Fontaine weapons or characters too. It will build less stacks though. Wanderer only has Faruzan as a dedicated buffer, so you have two free slots, so Furina might be used on them, alongside some healer like Diona, Baizhu, Benett, etc... which might give you the option to Freeze characters for Wanderer and give him some heals, although given he's on air most of the time, he doesn't need that much. She could probably replace Benett in Childe International, since she also buffs, heals when needed( and you can actually control when to heal unlike Benett) and Childe helps with her ER issues and gives her hydro resonance, but Benett helps with Xiangling's ER issues, and there's pyro resonance to consider, so there's a bit of a trade-off which we don't know it it's worth replacing him or not. I can't say for Hu tao teams, given Yelan and XQ are there to vape her pyro-infused NAs, which is where both excel unlike any other Hydro character. Furina can vape them too given she seems to have a solid hydro application( although not as much as Yelan's). Hu Tao's HP mechanics would synergize with Furina, but Furina kinda wants heals too, and we don't know if there's a way to heal and hurt Hu Tao really fast to justify healing her just to hurt her again. Besides Yelan and XQ, whom you're running in Hu Tao's 4th slot? You can also build a new team if you want. I for example plan to run her alongside Raiden to solve her ER issues, in Nilou teams, Shinobu Hyperbloom teams, Ayaka Freeze teams, etc... Especially in places where I know there will be some drain mechanic involved like against those new Fatui, Rifthounds, etc.

With Ayaka I either run Komomi as healer for the Freeze team, or Layla C6 for mono Cryo with Shenhe (she is fantastic, protecting the team, providing the Tenacity buff, and dealing about 400k damage per rotation, using 10 Quills). I also have Mona. I have Xingqiu and Yelan but I never use them with Ayaka, performing Normal/Charged Attacks for hydro application seems clunky and their Hydro application lacks AoE. Considering I’m saving Primogems for Shenhe C6, she will pretty much always be tide to my Ayaka C0. I actually wish to replace Kokomi though, because I’d like the Hydro application to not be static for 20 seconds. I need a healer in the team though, and also a grouper, and Furina doesn’t apply Hydro in Pneuma. Maybe a future Anemo unit will solve the issue, providing strong grouping and healing, for a team with Ayaka, Shenhe C6, and Furina. I wonder how Furina will be in Wanderer’s team, compared to Yelan C1 in a shieldless team with Bennet and Faruzan C6, or in a Freeze team. I use Hu Tao C1 in double Hydro teams (Xingqiu C6 with Jade Cutter and Yelan C1 without signature weapon and without Elegy), in the 4th slot I use either Zhongli for protection or Kazuha C2 for Hydro VV and A4, and for sharing 200 EM with Hu Tao. So, I guess Furina would replace either Xingqiu or Yelan.

I don't think I have a really huge energy problem with her. I will have Raiden and Furina in the Same team so ER problems are solved. My issue is what healer can she utilities. For reference this is my team: Raiden, Yae and Furina. The 4th slot is really difficult for me to fill. Im considering my C6 Sayu, C4 Bennett and Qiqi for healer option. i think the best way to use her in freeze team is going her as a healer and only going as buffer no dmg but i dont know how much the heal turret can apply hydro

The “healing summon” doesn’t apply any Hydro and doesn’t do any damage. The only thing it does is healing the active character(s).

I forgot to mention that with her C2 though, the healing summon gains a lot of value, because in Pneuma mode, the 7 Hydro infused Normal Attacks from her C2, will do 30% HP as damage instead of 15%, and will consume 1% HP from nearby party members, getting more Fanfare points. In that case, in a Freeze team, you’d do the 7 Normal Attacks in Pneuma for massive damage, then switch to Ousia for off-field Hydro application and damage. The Ousia mode instead, with C2, adds some team wide healing to the 7 Hydro infused Normal Attacks.

Do you think Furina would be much better if she bursted every other rotation? That way her E gets to drain more hp (in 20 seconds it can drain about 38% hp), so if you heal at the start of the next rotation to full health (eg. with baizhu) you can start the next rotation with about 152 stacks. If using Neuvilette with 3 charged attacks he can easily reach 450 stacks and hence have a full 90+% damage bonus. Perhaps the high energy requirements are intended to encourage extended rotations? Moving away from the idea of bursting off cooldown

Honestly I've very glad that furina has these limitations. It puts xingqiu, yelan, and furina on a scale. Xingqiu is the most convenient but with the lowest damage contribution, yelan is slightly less convenient but has higher damage contribution, and furina is fairly inconvenient but provides the most damage contribution because of her teamwide buff rather than just the active character.

Furina atm is very good only with Fontaine characters (Neuvi and likely future ones) and just "ok" in some pre-Fontaine 2H teams (mostly with XQ/Yelan)... and that's it. She isn't viable as solo hydro in any vape teams: Kokomi can drive National way better than her, and Kokomi is atrocious in National... the point is that currently Furina seems like C6 Faruzan for Fontaine teams, very cool but also very niche, I wouldn't mind that with a generic 5S, but she's the Archon of the most flexible element in the game, it doesn't feel right. All they need to do is removing the ICD on the octopus and honestly I would already be extremely happy with that, she wouldn't powercreep XQ/Yelan but at least she wouldn't need them either in most pre-Fontaine teams.

@@GT-xw7rg I mean if that’s good for you fine, but the “other teams” are basically just Fontaine teams, that’s the truth: whether you are ok with it or not, that’s quite niche for the hydro archon and she would objectively be the most niche archon in the game.

@@xanthee_imr I’m fine with that to. I don’t think an archon “needs” to be anything. Personally since an entire region has a whole new playstyle around fluctuating HP values, I think having her be based primarily on that to be far more interesting than just being a better Xq or yelan. I’ve been saying from the beginning I’d rather her do something different and not just be another competitor in the hydro application arms race.

@@GT-xw7rg I agree, except that currently she doesn’t even come close to be competitive with XQ/Yelan, actually she’s currently not even functional in many teams that require a certain amount of hydro because the application is too slow and also inconsistent on top of that. I agree that she should be primarily focused on Fontaine meta, 100%, but I would also like her to be at least functional in those other teams. All I want is no ICD on the octopus and she would be fine, still not better than XQ/Yelan in many scenarios because of her other issues (huge ER requirements, harsh requirements for her buffs that mostly can’t be met).

You need a healer/shielder. Their HP is too low to be safe. Swap Raiden with Baizhu, you want Fischl to proc Hyperbloom for max dmg so Raiden stealing bloom can be bad

​@@nonamepasserbya6658 Tbh he should replace Nahida with Baizhu, Nahida doesn't contribute to team damage too much because her burst only effects on field. They both can drive. His Fischl is on golden troupe with Polar Star so her Hyperblooms aren't really that good compared to full em Raiden and Fischl doesn't proc that many to begin with or they can just run Nahida on Prototype Amber. Swapping Raiden with Baizhu doesn't really make sense since you'd be using more Spread and Fischl A4 doesn't proc on Spread nor Hyperbloom. Raiden gives you more Aggravates so.

The blooms aren't gonna do damage unless Furina or Baizhu are on full em and you sit there and wait for the blooms to explode without Nilou or Kaveh. Fischl can use Aggravate just as much as Electro Charge and removing Raiden just brings the team dps down.

I’ve been saying to people for a bit now that Furina 100% looks strong, but she’s not the upgrade over XQ people thought we’d be getting, and IMO energy is probably the biggest or 2nd biggest reason why.
