My favourite kind of science is the kind I get to apply (to my lower back) Thanks!
@markvarley4557
@markvarley4557 6 жыл бұрын
I was curious about using the hot water bottle, I presumed it was held to the lower abdomen, hips kinda area, as I figure that's closest to the womb, but if they were using kidney-shaped heat pads in the underwear in the research you mentioned then presumably it sits over the vulva, lower down, is that the best place to apply the heat? above or below the pubis? It's an academic question in my case as I'm a guy and tend to not suffer from period pains, not first-hand anyway, but I have one of those enquiring minds, I wandered in here from Knowing Better's channel :o)

I suffer a lot from a herniated disc in my back and I absolutely live for the heater built into my car seats. Even in 110 degree California summer days, I still drive with the seat heater on 100% of the time because it helps so much. Unfortunately, it is extremely short lived, and the pain returns soon after getting out of the car.

Sometimes for my housemates (BECAUSE I'M A MAN) - I get a jar, fill it with hot tap water, and rap it in a tea towel... the heat is more direct, BUT what ever you do: you can't use boiled water (because that's very dangerous and might smash the jar)... but hot tap water works... and you can control the heat a bit more... and it's a lot quicker as a delivery system than hot water bottles.

Hello, haylee. please, see my today post on this page. If you now haven't a heating pad, you can fill with the hot water (never too hot!), some plastic bottle (for drinking water, for milk, for soap etc.) and put them near your feet, on belly and at lower back, for more time as possible, until to the end of menstruation. If you like, write me again. See you!

If you enjoy your heat bottle, you might wanna try a "Magic Bag" (basically, a fabric bag with heatable/freezable beans); I converted quite a few friends to that, much to their relief. It's so much more convenient than heating pads or blankets...

I have cramps so bad that I’ve had to go the ER. I was in so much pain that I was vomiting and I couldn’t see straight. The doctor just told me to take 1000mg of ibuprofen. It helped, but it often still left me in some pain. The water bottle though??! Straight magic. With the hot water bottle, I don’t have to melt my stomach lining or risk overdose! I even got a cute microwavable penguin so my “water bottle” is precious and soft and snuggly. My penguin saved me this month.

I take an ibuprofen than have a relaxing hot bath. Sometimes I find ibuprofen works better if you do something else to temporarily get rid of the pain. I tried hot water bottles and hot pads. But hot bath just works better since it all so takes some weight and pressure off my back and stomach.

The painkillers I have are 550 a pill. I'm going on 20 and I can't swallow pills to save myself especially if they're big. So when I choked on half a pill, I filled up two big hot water bottles and put one right over my uterus and the other one against my lower back. I had to keep changing out the water every 2 hrs to keep it hot but it worked well for me. I just need to find a way to get something that stays hot for longer Tip: if you get bloating and nausea on your period, try some pepto bismol
@osv1950
@osv1950 3 жыл бұрын
Hello @Lonnie G . Period pain is unfortunately very "widespread", but never "normal". Your advice is useful, but a lot more can be done to avoid this useless discomfort. I'm a nurse, since a lot of years I've been studying the strong period pain and some easy methods to "prevent" it, instead of only "fighting" cramps each time. Using the Hot Water Bottle, as you said, is very useful, but only during the pain is not enough: cramps become more bearable, but it's better to use the HWBs following an easy method of progressive thermal stimulation, to "prepare" your body , to"prevent" and avoid pain. We'll speak again about, if you like, very happy to send you the complete description of the method and help you to across your suffering. Menstruation must never be a hell!

Hi, @Soph's Notes and all girls! I'm a nurse, since a lot of yeras I've been studying the severe menstrual pain, some easy methods for its prevention and the use of heat for the health. The hot water bottle for cramps is surely useful, as you said, but to use it only during pain is not enough: cramps come more bearable, but a lot more can be done to prevent pain, instead of only contrast it each time, using the hot water bottle in a different mode, following an easy method of progressive thermal stimulation. If you like, I can send you by email the description of the method (too long for this space!), very glad to help all of you not to suffer unnecessarily again. Menstruation must never be a hell or a damned doom!
