I feel its incorrect.. It all depends on they type of policy you have. Its called permisive use. Some policies do not allow it.

What if someone is using my name on their car insurance when I don't live with them nor did I give them permission to do so?

was the vehicle they have ever in your name? If you ever lived at the same address they currently live then the insurance companies do a consumer report and can add you to someones policy as an excluded driver. But it does not affect you. You just wont be able to drive their vehicle.

Interesting that it will cover someone else driving your car, but not your own teenage child driving your car...makes no sense.

Espcially if its child. They need to be included or excluded on your policy. Since they are a household member and have access to the vehicle. But some policies dont even let you lend your vehicle out. So be carefull.

But, it is based off the driver...look at the rates for inexperienced teen drivers.
