Great topic. Good friend helped me drive back a new to me used vehicle 2 states away which I added to my insurance. Permissible use allowed friend to drive my car; if accident, it would 1st use his insurance (he has lesser limits); anything not covered enough would be applied to my insurance. Thankfully all went well. It is wise to get informed in advance. With some insurance co.'s not writing new policies, had to pay for 2nd car before selling first one, or insurance would be dropped completely.

In California- if I lent my car out to a family member and they were hit by a red light runner. My family member has their own car insurance but I just found out that my car was changed to only liability a week before getting hit. Will the family member insurance cover any of the accident.

Very informative video. Are you an attorney? I live in FL and just received a denial letter from the at fault driver's insurance that rear ended my car on the expressway going about 5MPH due to traffic flow. The letter states it's an unlisted vehicle. Pls let me know if your an attorney for hire.

I talked to multiple people at the company to try to see how much extra money this crash is going to cost me so my friend can pay me back and they said they couldn't answer that and it could be anywhere from 200-900 extra a year...

What if the at-fault driver doesn't have enough insurance? Would the driver be able to claim underinsured motorists under the vehicle if the owner let them drive it?

Hey I recently got into an accident in my friends car, I live in Florida, we were on our way to Miami for a trip and as we were in the highway it started to pour rain and the car slipped off the road and we hit a bunch of bushes and debris, no one was hurt, but I’m curious to know how this is gonna pan out for me? If you/he claims it, you will get an at-fault accident on your record. I believe in FL it stays for 3 years. If you have insurance yourself and your insurance pulls the claim, your rate will go up. Technically your friend’s insurance will pay it if covered or they might have your insurance pay. You won’t know either way, they’ll just take care of that part in the background

They want you or your insurance to pay for it? If you have a bill of sale and took off your policy (you should have taken the plate too) then I doubt they have a leg to stand on. They’re defaulting to you because of him not registering it. Just gotta CYOA

My husband was headed to work he had the right of way to make a right turn as he was making the turn another driver going straight ran the red light causing him to slam into my husbands brand new car that he has only had for 3 weeks on the driver side. The owner of the vehicle has insurance but the driver who was at fault maybe excluded from the policy. Ok so what if I crashed and when the cops came me and my friend said it was him but now he has got a letter he was going to get sued but after a while they sent his dad a letter that he was going to get sued so what should I do about that they gave him a court date for it now aswell

Please help! I let a friend drive my truck to the parts store. He backed into a truck in the parking lot. They want to go through my insurance it was my truck. I don't want this claim on my policy. (Not my fault) If I claim my friend did not have permission to take my vehicle will this go to his insurance? If so, what are the negatives I could face from that? It depends on the state your in but even if it goes through your insurance, most companies will let you unrate claim because you were not the driver. You can check with them but if your friend didn’t have permission, your insurance could sue them or seek legal action against them more so than just go through their insurance. It’s theft if they didn’t have your permission

I was sick I let my friend drive my car, he dropped me off, and parked the car, when he went to get the car from the parking lot he got involved with the small accident hit the bumper from the back whic has small dent, I wasn't in the car in that moment. The police got involved old lady said doesn't need ambulance and everything was fine. Till I heard she is claiming with her insurance medical claim also, she was fine and refused to have ambulance and said to the police she is ok. Unfortunately now they are getting ready to claim medically, I am very disappointed, out of nothing they are trying to get advantage. This issues happening in New Jersey. My insurance company Travellers, also my insurance company said won't renew my policy, please advise

See if they’ll non rate the claim off your record because you were not the driver. It’s a possible fix for them non renewing you. If they say no, you’ll start looking for new insurance about a month before your effective date/policy ends.

The claim can get removed from your name with most companies since you weren’t the driver. You’ll just call them and request to have it fixed if it affects your renewal. If not, you may have to shop.

Hey please help me, I have liability insurance with Geico in California, a friend of mine borrowed my car and rear ended someone very minor hit, my friend has an out of state drivers license but she has been living in CA for a while, will my insurance cover this claim? It’s called permissible use. Unless they are excluded from your policy and if you have collision coverage, you should be covered.

If you were affected or injured or they caused damage to the car, you would hired a standard lawyer. You’ll need to research which lawyer would be best for your situation. I’m not knowledgeable enough to give you advice beyond that.
