$30 in uncrustables....get 3 loaves of bread and spreads and have a little working bee in kitchen to make and package for freezer. Won’t take long with a few helpers. Save money and teach the kids and bonding time!

@@Alex-sb4op Use a glass cup to press the circle shape out of the bread or like a cookie cutter. Then use a fork to crimp the edges so the peanut butter doesn't squish out.

Good trip! If you want to save some cash there are a couple ways to trim it down more. One, rabbit hay at Walmart is exorbitantly priced. Find a farm store like Bomgaars or TSC or any kind of farm store or a farmer and buy Timothy or prairie hay by the bale. It will last you more than a year, maybe even two, and be less than $20 or so. We keep ours in a new empty trash can so it can be outside and not get rodents in it. Also next time you have waffles as a meal, make double the recipe batch that feeds your family and freeze the leftovers. The kids can toast the waffles later. It will be far healthier and cheaper than buying Eggo. If you do this when you are making them anyway it's an easy way to save and plan ahead.

A tip for looking at prices don’t look at the actual price but the unit price if u want to save money. I do that all the time at Walmart

I would most definitely go for quality over price. So if name brand is the same I’d go for it but if the ingredient list is long with a bunch of ingredients I don’t recognized I won’t purchase. Nutrition is so important for growing kids. Fun watching the shop.

They usually do have great value brand Minnesota but they're not next to the regular brand same thing with like the spaghetti sauces when the boys said there was no generic they should look at the prices though because there's usually stuff that's less expensive than the ragu so you can still get brand name and save money and unfortunately a lot of the Great value items these days are more than the brand names. It's really about looking at the value to see if it's really worth getting the generic. This is a sad time or in the price of everything is just ridiculous. You guys always seem to do very well though what you spend a month in groceries for your family is not bad at all. There is a family in Rochester that has a show where they're feeding 14 people every month and she spends 4200 to 4500 a month on groceries

That was a fun grocery trip! I feel the same as Tom and certain brands I will not replace. For example Great Value cream cheese does not work as well as Philadelphia Brand when baking my 1000 's of Kolaches at Christmas time. With the dough having a significant amount of cream cheese I can tell the difference!

A great Christmas gift for ur cat if your Walmart has it is a water fountain. I bought one for my cats after my nephew and niece in law in Arizona recommended it . Maybe u can look into getting that if u r looking for a gift idea for ur pets this year

Good savings for the first time. Hunts Spaghetti Sauce or Great Value Spaghetti is less than Ragu and preferred here. Great Value for Brown sugar is also available. I agree with others to spend some family time making the uncrustables and freezing them would save a lot. Keep up the good work.

Walmart Brand Garbage Bags are EXCELLENT. My favorite with no complaints. I had a person tell me the only ones their Trash Pick Up will accept. I highly recommend.

You got to the apples and it reminded me of the thing called Apeel a new produce coating that is made from the fruits and vegetables, do you have that up there yet. We do not have it in the mid-west yet, but it does help the produce last much longer, pretty cool to see on the website.

Completely understand the dust pan issues!!! So aggravating. It use to be a no brainer, now you have to try them out in the store! I shopped at Walmart today & purposefully put the cheap boxes of Kleenex in my cart but it rung up at the register as the high priced Kleenexes. So I complained & they gave me the cheaper price. Happens a lot at Target. They are nice about changing the price for me tho.

I get a combination of brand name and store brand. Somethings that are store brand taste awful like, spaghetti sauce, ketchup, chips, etc. Its a waste of money to get these things when my family does like it and won't really eat them. I have tried to put store brand stuff into brand name containers but they can tell the difference. Especially with tomato products.

Good job at trying no name products. I buy a fair amount of generic brands. If you cut down on some of the processed foods it would help bring down your prices. I used to buy instant oatmeal and now I buy large packages of oats and cook them up. Only takes a few minutes. I know the kids get treats but maybe you could cut down on the amount. My guys used to get a pudding cup for dessert every night after supper but we now skip it. All the little cuts do help.

If you have coupons for the product that you want to purchase that is fine. As you walk down that isle to purchase that particular product, be observant of the Greneric product ounces, quality, and quantity. If the generic product is worth price...go for it.

The boys could of gotten lots more generic in the chips and especially the Nestle Chocolate chips aren't generic. The cinnamon french toast sticks are very good in the Great Value brand. Your children might like them for breakfast too. Also I have only bought Bounty paper towels until recently and the store brand of the strongest great value are about the same. Good haul! Hannah is a little doll!

Honestly it makes me really curious how good the Great value items are in America because here in Mexico (yes, we have Walmarts too haha) every time I've tried them they're just a let down so for 10-15 more pesos I just get the "original" ones. I've tried cereals and cookies & they were like cardboard, cheese has a weird plastic taste, I think the last thing I tried was the great value generic Nutella and it tasted like vegetable shortening 😖 the only thing with good quality and actually cheaper are nuts, almonds and dry chilies haha

I was interested in the cost of fuel. US gallons to litres it works out at just over 83 litres (1 litre is 2.2 pints, the imperial pint is a little over 19oz compared to 16oz in the US.). Currently 83 litres of petrol/gas would cost us well over $210 NZ! Convert that back to US $ and it's $128, so quite a difference. Okay - commented on the first part, now to watch the rest!!!

There are many creative ways to cut back in these insanely expensive times. Start growing your own veggies in the summer. I’m using up the last of my scallions in NYC. You can peel and cut your own french fries with a bag of potatoes. You can make chili with ground beef or turkey with beans in a croc pot in the am. You can bake a cake and/or cookies versus buying so many treats and controlling the sugar intake. You can make overnight oats instead of buying instant oatmeal - the kids can add fruits, nuts or a touch of syrup for flavor. Popping your own popcorn at home. Off brand chocolate is ok for baking. Great Value tortillas are good. You can also cut them in triangles and make your own nachos. Doritos are too expensive for me. You can make your own chicken strips instead of buying them frozen. You can buy off brand hot cocoa and marshmallows and it’ll come out way cheaper than Swiss Miss. You can freeze lemons if you get them on sale for cold remedies or lemonade in the summer. Meal prepping helps keep costs down since you’re planning every meal. You can dedicate an hour once all the kids are in bed to save headaches the next day. I agree with the majority: Great Value isn’t always the best value. You are doing a FABULOUS job 🎉

I always check the price labels on the shelves for the price breakdown to see what is the cheapest. Sometimes name brands are a better buy. I always wondered why you didn't go to bulk stores like Sam's, BJS, or Costco. ✌🏼💕😊

If you have Kwik Trip Gas station there they have butter $2.99, Bacon 2/$4 with app coupon, chicken $5.99 for a roasted one on Monday, $1 rolls, 35c' pound for onions and bananas, $1 for 5 lbs of potatoes, $2.99 per pound of hamburger 70%

I don't mind store brands but there are just some things I can do. I won't deviate from Peter Pan Peanut Butter, Heinz Ketchup & Kraft Miracle Whip. I'm sure there are others but I can't remember them off the top of my head. I grew up on those brands. But some store brands are ok.
