Great video Paul! The Castlegar area also has lots of amazing walking and hiking trails around and the best thing is they are not saturated with people! Often you don't even run into anyone so you get the whole trail to yourself!

Thanks for showing our beautiful hidden gem called Castlegar. I have lived here since 1963 and no it does not smell at all. It USED to smell but not since the 80s. I know all the hiking trails. Our health care is excellent. I just broke my hip 3 weeks ago. 15 min wait in emerg, then xrays and sent to TRH by 2, in surgery by 4. Not bad at all. Excellent care and no infection. Got home the next day. I would not live anywhere else.

Did you know the streets in downtown Castlegar became reversed around 1978? 2nd Ave became 10th. I always wondered why.

Think it had something to do with the Kinnaird amalgamation. They probably changed the orientation so they were both usng the same address and fire number scheme. It's a guess though...

I drove through Prince George BC recently and oh that smell. Perhaps the same culprit.

Definitely an acquired taste (easier to acquire when the pulp mill signs your pay cheques) but if well managed, they bring a lot of benefits and employment to the area. Thanks for chiming in!

No jobs, poor transport, lack of sidewalks yet high taxes, crazy old Doukhobors who think they own the entire place and overpriced real estate, of course, welcome to Castlegar.
@dogwood9023 Жыл бұрын
Wow, we have EXCELLENT health care, buses that run regularly and the most beautiful mountains and clean water everywhere. There are plenty of brand new sidewalks everywhere and also jobs. My grand daughters have had many jobs in the 2-3 years post grad in vet shops, boston pizza, a&w and in group homes for mentally disabled. Doukhobors are wonderful spiritual people. I married one and have never felt more accepted. I was raised here and love it. I would NEVER live anywhere else. Taxes and real estate prices are not unique to this area. YES, WELCOME TO CASTLEGAR!
@Butterflies-are-free Жыл бұрын
@@dogwood9023 I agree with all the wonderful things you’ve said about Castlegar 💕, however, I’m in an electric wheelchair and most of the sidewalks truly are terrible and even impassable for me in some areas.
