Video shot 2 years ago?? Watt's upload schedule must be insane hahaha. Jokes apart, good to see you deliver these goated commentaries again Watt-sensei, this one was truly insightful and it also made me remember when the anipiano community was still thriving on youtube :p

I don’t feel very connected to Lang Lang's music. It comes across as somewhat cold and lacks the emotional depth I look for. There’s a sense that his approach doesn’t vary much between pieces; he seems to play everything in a similar style, aiming for the same effect and level of showmanship. This consistency, while technically impressive, makes his interpretations feel static and unchanging, as if he’s somewhat detached from the music itself.

Really nice analysis Watt ! Lang Lang sometimes is trotting like a horse, but I really like his interpretations, he just gives an exciting and fresh interpretation to almost every piece.

Sometimes it's a little bit too much, what Lang Lang does with this waltz, but I must admit, I like it. He at least tries to play his own version... Btw it was already Mozart, who played every repetition slightly differently and he's writing it even in the compositions ( and a lot of good musicians, which aren't first international class, do it according to their academic education; so this is like a standard in today's musicianship ).
