The reason this cooler works is specifically because of the gasket. If you have a fan pushing air into a space that is sealed, and the only way to get the air out is to push it through the vents on the laptop, well there you go. With other open coolers, this just blows air at the bottom of the laptop, but doesn't really have air forced through the vents. Couple the gasket with a powerful fan, and you're pushing ludicrous amounts of air through those vents that the built in fans could only dream of.

Doesn't that foam block intakes on big laptops? (asking for my Alienware M18R1)
@MashITTech7 ай бұрын
No not at all and I did test on the blade 18" the foam does not block the intakes and because it seals it, makes sure the intakes are getting pure cool air. I was a bit worried myself when I first took it out of the box, I had never seen a laptop cooler with foam before

One of my concerns is with the squared foam "O ring" on top. Will it actually cover some of the underside vents on my Alienware X17? :) But, at least it will match my laptop's aesthetic. Thanks for another video I can use.

I was also concerned when I pulled it out of the box, I had never seen a laptop cooler with foam before. Fortunately it works well by sealing the laptop onto the cooler and then ensures the laptop is getting only the cool air being pushed into the air intakes

This looks like positive testing of one product, and the product being reviewed is the most expensive one on the market. The advantages of the llano seem to be the high powered fan and the foam surround. Looking at @1.15 on the video, the foam is not stuck down and simply rests on the cooler, so you could have just put it on a cheap cooler and seen how much difference it makes. Off that revelation, I bought a technet (cheapest decent standard laptop cooler on Amazon) and put rubber draught excluder (not foam and not the stuff that looks like fur) around the area my Acer Predator Helios would sit on over the fan grill on the Technet, thus sealing the laptop to the cooler, forcing the air through the laptop. The cheap technet went from not working to dropping 6C from the max temp on the GPU! Previously maxxed out at 81C (running stable diffusion), now a much less worrying 75C, which is closer to 'well ventilated desktop temps' for the RTX3080 in the Acer. Looks like the llano drops still x3 of my modded solution because of the more powerful fan specifically designed to create a pressure differential, but the llano is also more than x3 the cost, much bulkier and not very portable, and needs its own PSU (no ability to use USB from the laptop so even less portable)… and dropping 6C for 20 quid seem like enough (and a better deal!) anyway. So yeah, look at reviews, but be wary of ones that look like positives-only reviews of a single product and push you to the most expensive option vs a little bit of thinking out of the box. You might save some money. EDIT - for the rubber draught excluder tape I used, search Amazon UK with 'B0BXP1MDGZ'. Seems a lot more durable than the cheap foam the llano uses... maybe they should upgrade it to flexible PVC or rubber!

Fantastic video bro, I wonder how well this cooler will perform on the alienware x15 r2 with inverted motherboard given the fact that it always heats up to 100c instantly.

I can ask! I did just buy an iets 600 as so many people have requested it. Might give it away myself if postage isn’t too crazy 😂

I just ordered the x16 r2 after watching your video! I know you weren’t impressed by it but the aesthetics was too nice to pass on, especially when it’s mostly used for on the go gaming. Worried about the potential heating tho so this would be nice to pair with it!
@MashITTech7 ай бұрын
It wasn't that I wasn't impressed, I was more disappointed. I absolutely loved the x16r1 and the x16r2 is almost identical which is my problem, the CPU is more efficient but not as powerful as previous r1 13th gen. And all the other manufacturers are using better screen options, now there is nothing wrong with the current screen but having a 500 nit version would have been much much better plus maybe a mini LED or OLED option. Either way, I love the x16, I just think Dell have been very very lazy this year. With regards to heat, I think I just got unlucky, hope yours has better thermals
@andylin637 ай бұрын
@@MashITTech yea a better screen option would’ve been nice. I like to game in a darker room to began with so screen isn’t too much of an issue with me although having a brighter screen as an option would’ve been nice. And thank you I hope my thermals won’t be an issue

Would it help for the razer blade 16 as well? As it has vapor chamber cooling ??
@MashITTech3 ай бұрын
Yes, it certainly helps but the reduction was not as impressive as on the legion for some reason!
@k1cs1m3a83 ай бұрын

I've watched a lot of videos on these laptop coolers, and I've come to the conclusion that the Llano V12 and the IETS GT600V2 are the best premium laptop coolers. IETS edges out Llano a bit and has more features: more RGB modes, magnetic foam pad, higher elevation stand etc. but Llano definitely wins in the drip department, it looks so good. Looking forward to buying either one of those for my ROG Strix G16, when their prices drop a bit.

Thank you friend, subscribed. Additional like for wrigting temperatures for each test like this 9:09 on the right 🙏 First person who did this and it makes difference 100% Good test. If I will win pad, if it’s not too late - want this pad to be gifted and sent to someone in Indonesia (or who really need it in any other country and has hard times getting/buying it). Already ordered it, have a hope that my first delivery from abroad, from Amazon will be successful 😅 and I will be already owner of this hopefully working 😅 awesome device. Really big gratitude to Llano!

for those who bought llano v12 without rgb then fear not just buy a smart rgb with bluetooth led that sync with your phone music then connect it to a power supply. There you go an Ilano V12 with smart RGB.

Fantastic review. In fact I've watched a ton of your videos this week and the quality of them all is amazing, great work. Would you recommend this cooling pad for the Legion 9i, or would that be a bad idea given the intake on the top of the keyboard? Thanks
@MashITTech7 ай бұрын
Thank you mate. The legion 9i still takes a lot of air through its bottom intakes so it will certainly improve temps though maybe not quite as well as the Legion Pro 7i

Should have also compared this to just a simple rack that lifts the laptop up from the desk. Could also try just removing the bottom plate of the laptop and put it directly onto the cooler lol. Did you also notice a edcrease in fan speed of the laptop fans with the cooler?
@MashITTech7 ай бұрын
I am going to do a follow up video soon with a few more coolers and in that video I will also compare just raising the laptop and also using a stand with out fans at all. And yes, the fans didn't spin up as much on the laptop but with the noise from the cooler you would hardly notice

Man, this would make my set up run a lot more nice. I live in a pretty dusty place, so a cooling pad like that would be super helpful.

Impressive help with the heat that is generated. My laptop always runs on the hotter side. This would be a bonus in helping even the worst cooled laptop with airflow.

Great video Dave I appreciate the review as I've been using a ~10yr old lap desk and have been looking for a good replacement. The Legion you got looks very similar to the one I got after returning my Alienware x16 r2 after you put out that review. It's the Legion 7 pro with an i9 13900k and 4090. Cheers!

yes, almost the same, mine is the 4080 version so will have the same TDP. I was more than surprised with the difference it makes, it can get quite loud though so I kept it at 800rpm when gaming. I am going to buy a few more top picks from amazon for a follow video as I have had a lot of requests
